This building is the perfect imbodiment of the American Democracy, it is an iconic symbol of America the world over. This
book does this great building justice, the images are crisp and vivid and the text is almost scholarly. Everytime i enter
this building i get a shiver and feel the tingle of goose bumps, and am reminded of what a spectacularly beautiful building
it is, and how the building seems to hold the most awesome power. The history in its halls and the majesty of its presence
makes the most incredible impression, if you are not moved by this building then frankly you need to check your pulse. If
you have any interest in this iconic building or just appreciate beautiful books then i cant imagine you being disappointed
in this book.

This is a wonderful book for a number of reasons: its beautiful illustrations, its wealth of detail delivered in a reverent
and infectiously enthusiastic narrative, and (most of all) its unabashed defense of classical architecture and passionate
call for a return to the style in our great buildings. One has merely to open this book to thank his lucky stars that most
of monumental Washington, DC was built before the Marxist-inspired so-called "International Style" and its degenerate stylistic
descendants inexplicably washed away centuries (nay, millenia) of Western art tradition. It's appalling to read the sort
of vindictives that were hurled against the last exponents of the classical style, men like Bacon, Russel, and Gilbert, by
so-called "modernists" when they designed stunning masterpieces like the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials, and the Supreme
Court Building. And it's galling to see what "modernists" offered the nation as an alternative to classical design: can anyone
look at the Museum of American History on the National Mall and not shake his head in sadness? The place looks like an annex
to a New Jersey shopping mall.
Reed is a wonderfully able partisan of the classical style, and dismisses so-called "modern" architecture as the "Anorexic" style for its lack of decoration. That may be overly harsh; great architects can indeed produce great buildings even in non-classical styles - the Kennedy Center in Washington is a fine example of non-classical yet non-Anorexic design. But Reed has one undeniably true point: we as a civilization have allowed ourselves to be cheated our of our millenia old Western art tradition by so-called "artists" that have translated their lunatic fringe political views (the International Style was nothing but applied Marxism, designed to reflect the "means of production" to quote standard leftist gibberish) into drab design originally meant for "worker housing" and now applied (ironically) to US government and corporate structures. This "artistic" rabble still to a large degree indulges its proclivities towards lunatic fringe politics, and continues to so savagely attack the classical style (because they in fact hate Western culture and all it stands for) that it has become unthinkable to build a classical structure in the US today. Some are ignorant enough to claim that the classical style makes them "want to throw up," but the best they can come up with is the travesty of soulless design that is present day Houston or any number of Asian cities like Seoul.
The closest we are allowed to claiming our Western heritage anymore is the so-called "Stripped Classical" applied to the new WW2 Memorial in Washington. I suppose we should thank our lucky stars that that we at least got "Stripped Classical" instead of some appalling metal and glass gimmick that - like most "modern" structures - would rapidly deteriorate into a shabby pile of rusty metal, stained concrete, and peeling paint. But like Reed points out, "A building without decoration is like the heavens without stars." Why is "stripped" all we are allowed to enjoy anymore? Because leftist "artists" that can't stand the West, can't stand America, and most of all can't stand the culture from which it sprang browbeat us into standing glumly in "modern" museums looking at unintelligible and ugly "art" (a melting toilet at the Whitney comes to mind) and won't allow us to erect magnificent Corinthian or Ionic columns anymore. Really, it is sad. This magnificent book, at least, shows us what we once had, and what might have been. Let's hope future generations of Western civilization have more courage than we do, and spend their days recovering their own cultural heritage. Perhaps they will once more build for the sake of beauty rather than that of Marxist anti-Western hatred.

This is the story of Vassili Sulich, written by him, in his own words. You can hear his voice as you read it. Dancer, choreographer,
painter, & poet; it's a fasinating life story of a man filled with many famous names in dance and theatre. For anyone interested
in the world of dance, classical or theatrical, it's filled with stories involving many legendary names. For someone that
worked with Vassili for many years, it's a revelation. His story is a part of the heritage that makes the dancers of today.
And finally, the entire book is an affirmation of his drive to communicate life through dance and the great joy that he has
in it.

Undertanding Karma, Disease, and Healing

In her book, What Goes On Beyond the Pearly Gates?, Miriam Bostwick, trance medium and ordained Spiritualist minister, expands
the conceptual knowledge of medical practitioners in important directions. She opens our eyes to karmic reasons for major
diseases, putting illness into a very different context. Illness is couched in the needs of the soul. The patient still
has the illness, but the attitude toward the illness is changed if viewed as an opportunity to work off negative karma. Bostwick
offers theoretical underpinnings of idsease and health exploring why attitudinal healing is so crucial. Attitudinal healing
is crucial not only to the health of the body, but more importantly, to the development of the soul as it progresses over
many lifetimes. In this context, the physical and mental woes of this life become details in the evolution of the eternal
soul while in spirit and during reincarnations.
I see that inclusion of spiritual knowledge can be an important arm of medical practice. Rev. Bostwick successfully incorporates solid spiritual principles with current medical reality. How comforting it is to read communiques from spirt physicians and teachers, to learn how healing in the here and the hereafter takes place by changing our attitudes, and to be able to apply this wonderful knowledge in our lives and in service to others.

Miriam Bostwick in the first two chapters of "What Goes on Beyond the Pearly Gates?" presents a case for reincarnation and
karma using references and examples from both the New Testament and Old testament, as well as teaching from the early church
fathers. She refers to other source documents that show how Islam, Spiritualism, Religious Science, and Buddhism affirm this
teaching.
This book may be controversial to many readers, however, it is the hope of the author that the principles and discoveries presented will be of comfort and healing to others while dispelling the fear of the unknown.
Bostwick has provided thorough documentation on studies of the brain, the nervous system, the musculoskeletal system, the respiratory system, the digestive system, as well as other bodily systems and functions. Her writing is influenced by "voices from the other side." These studies are detailed and illustrated with charts showing how the physical and karmic interact in determining a person's well being. Therapeutic techniques are introduced for reversing Alzheimer's disease, autism, schizophrenia, bi-polar conditions, and other mental disorders, as well as physical illnesses and emotional disturbances.
Consideration is given to inter-dimensional communication, concepts, of the physical body and its' importance to the spiritual body, soul development, the sub conscious mind, and attitudinal healing.
The question of finding purpose in life is introduced as soul unfoldment, "utilizing our relationships circumstances, environmental factors, situations, responsibilities, duties, and work as opportunities to apply spiritual principles - not as religious dogma." This is an important work, for students of New Age philosophy, providing profound insights into reincarnation, karma, and life after death.

Getting to the Root of the Problem

Many people blame others for their maladies, mishaps, and miseries. Sometimes they blame God. But the students of reincarnation
and karma come to realize that we, in our pre-birth soul condition, often plan our own misfortunes as a means of evolving
spiritually from lifetime to lifetime in our march toward the Godhead. "The soul is drawn intentionally to a family who can
meet the necessary conditions for that soul to free itself from karmic bonds incurred in a past life," author Miriam Bostwick
writes, adding that a person may choose to incarnate even as mentally challenged or physically deformed.
Bostwick, a trance medium, collected stories from some 90 spirit healers and teachers, most of them telling about how various afflictions, including a number of dreaded physical and mental disorders, during their most recent life times helped them work out their karma and progress in their spiritual journeys. After dying, they did not find themselves in the humdrum heaven or horrific hell of orthodox religion, but rather they found themselves reviewing their earthly lives, continuing to learn on the Other Side, and sometimes preparing for a return trip. From their stories, we learn that the more spiritually-challenged often take their problems with them and must undergo a healing process (a change in attitude) in spirit before they can progress spiritually. Those who pursue a spiritual path in the material world can undergo the healing here, and not only be perfectly united with the etheric body upon transition, but will merit going to higher realms of light. That's the crux of this intriguing book.
Besides reincarnation and karma, Bostwick discusses the etheric body, the chakras, the soul contract, transition, and attitudinal healing in the afterlife in Part One of the three-part book. She points out that some people take the memory of their physical disabilities with them into the afterlife and are slow to awaken to the fact that the physical body has been shed and that they are now in a spiritual body which is perfect.
In Part Two, Bostwick discusses various diseases and afflictions of the physical body and how they may relate to the past lives. For example, sometimes high blood pressure may result from having mistreated others in a past life, while a type of high blood cholesterol known as hypercholesterolemia can stem from a lack of being loving in a past life. A Dr. Wren communicated that he came back as a dwarf in this life because of extreme vanity in several prior lifetimes. Much of the work of the angelic healers is in helping others to review their earthly lives and to gain an understanding and acceptance of the role karma played in bringing about the problems and disorders these individuals suffered while on earth. These healers lament the fact they were not aware, while on earth, that karma was the missing link to the effective treatment of a variety of problems.
Part Three deals with the karmic aspects of various mental disorders, such as Alzheimer's, autism, schizophrenia, and multiple personalities. One master teacher communicated that multiple personality disorder is often a result of the person trying to live in a fantasy world and thereby attracting spirits from the lower realms. "The spirits do not get complete possession," he states. "They are only in maybe for a few minutes, and others will stay for years."
Bostwick frequently calls upon Scripture to support the assertions regarding reincarnation, karma, and healing, pointing out that reincarnation was accepted as dogma by early Christian leaders until Emperor Justinian banned the teaching in 553 A.D.
This book gives real meaning to life's many adversities and challenges. It is interesting, informative, intriguing, and inspirational.

This is by far one of the best books I've ever read and am glad to have it in my library. It is a must-read if you're in sales,
real estate, insurance, self-employeed, mlm or any profession that benefits from networking and building relationships. I
have also had the pleasure of meeting Mary as a member of one of her Ideal Network Clubs and she is a great speaker, trainer,
mentor and motivator. If you have the chance to attend one of her seminars or events, do. If not, don't miss this book. It
will exceed your expectations and help you excel in your career.

Prior to reading "Who's Hiding in Your Address Book," my networking skills have been very limited. Actually, you could probably say that I have been abusing and wasting them. I just never got organized, or formed a plan, about putting networking to good use. I am good about helping other people network, but I haven't put any skills to use to help myself. This book is organized so well, it makes it look like it will be easy to do.
I really appreciate Ms. Kurek's organizational skills. She lays her material out in a way that gives the reader steps to follow, without boring them. She asks a lot of introspective, questions and thought-provoking activities. In addition to offering a wealth of great advice for networking, she also gives inspirational examples of successful women.
"Who's Hiding in Your Address Book?" left me feeling motivated and excited about getting organized. By doing so, I will be prepared for last-minute events and I can better help others to network. No more throwing out business cards, now I will organize them, noting details about the person who gave them to me. When I attend my Rotary meetings, I will pay more attention to information about the other members present and the guest speakers.
In addition to offering advice about useful steps to take, she also discussed things not to do. The one that I need to listen to most is in regards to talking less and listening more. This will have a much more positive impact on the people whom we are trying to establish positive contact. Truly, "Who's Hiding in Your Address Book?" should be given as a gift to all female college graduates. This will make sendoff into the business world so much more efficient and effective. Men would benefit from this book as well, but I think that women need all the advantages that they can get!

I came across this book recently and although I clearly don't usually read books for successful women (I think that this is
just a target audience) - I have to say I really liked it and got some very good ideas from it. It is partly a book about
getting organized, but unlike for example David Allen - it is much more about networking and creative networking. Because
it simplifies the subject into specific tasks - it makes it all seem very simple. That is where its strengths lie. Overall
- excellent book, full of ideas.

There's a great photo of the author holding the first flying model of the M2F1 he built and tested, standing next to the M2F1!
That's just one of many. The paperback edition has an update from 2005; what a treat that a program from the 1960s has such
an up to date publication. If you're a junky for experimental aircraft you have to have this one.

I've studied these vehicles for years and thought I knew a lot about them. But Dale Reed was there and does a masterful job
of melding the history time line with the results of the program. There are probably only a handful of people who could
have written this book which is as rich in detail and "colorful" stories as any reader could want. If you've read the story
of the X-15, this is the next logical step. If you haven't, you need to to really grasp what was going on at Edwards during
this time. Fascinating!

A well written book from the engineer that was at the center of this small group of specialized aerospace vehicles. While
detailed and somewhat technical, the author still manages to convey the sense of personal excitement, accomplishment and,
at times, frustration experienced by everyone supporting these vehicles. A must-read for anyone interested in these vehicles.

I strongly recommend this book. I'm an experienced speechwriter and I found myself rereading several sections. This should
be an indispensable guide for speechwriters at all levels, from beginners to pros. The author gives seasoned and candid advice
about such tricky areas as writer-client relations, capturing the speaker's voice, the politics of language, and the realities
of the speechwriter's lot. You'll come away with a comprehensive understanding of the frustrations and rewards of the profession.

As a professional speechwriter, this is the one book I turned to most in my younger days. Well written, great examples, logical
layout and plain, practical advice for the novice or experienced writer. One of the best books on speechwriting on the market
today.

I have written a few speeches but wanted some professional information on how to write them and get validation of what I've
been doing. I looked at a number of books in the libary and found this one to be the most useful. It's written in a direct
style and has lots of good advice. That's why I ended up buying my own copy.

This is the book that I constantly return to when looking for ideas for making the Catholic Faith come alive for my children.
The book is also full of very wise counsel in discipline and understanding children's behavior. Mrs. Newland was an excellent
writer and a very creative mother. You will find yourself laughing out loud, and then eager to try some of her excellent
ideas. If you cannot tell your children what the liturgical year of the Church even is, this is the book to buy. If you
already have several books on the liturgical year...you still need this one. Kristen West McGuire

I know the religious writings of Mrs. Mary Reed Newland. More importantly, however, I was privileged to know her, and I graduated
in 1964 from Monson (Massachusetts) High School with two of her sons, James and John. Mrs. Newland writes with keen insight
and with unfailing grace; quite simply, she wrote the way she lived. Any Catholic, any Christian--indeed any person--will
benefit intellectually as well as, more critically, spiritually from the work of this wonderful woman. If you enjoy the
works of the late Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen, you will similarly enjoy (and greatly benefit from) Mrs. Newland's work. It
is at once practical and spiritual, academic and accessible. I simply can't recommend her works highly enough!

This is the best book I have ever read on the Catholic liturgical year. It was written in the late 1950's and has many traditional
and economical ideas for families wanting to celebrate the entire liturgical year in their home. I learned a great deal about
my faith by reading this book not to mention what my children got out of the fun activities.

My daughter who is almost 4, just loves this book. Usually she is more interested in storybooks, especially about princesses.
But 1001 Words just captures her imagination, everything from the silly faces to the pictures in the back book cover. Now
she is learning how to spell the things for which the words are listed underneath and is doing quite well. We can only read
this book when our local library has it, and no one else has checked it out. I have tried every way to try and purchase this
book to no avail, hopefully the publisher will reprint 1001 Words.

Since I have become an avid crafter and enjoyed selling some of the items I have made with my own hands, this book has given
me a tool by which to expand my craftyness all over the place. I was introduced to this book by a wonderful woman who has
been weaving baskets for 20+ years, Melissa. She moved out of our area and left the book behind me to enjoy the pleasures
of people raving over works I created. It is a great tool for those who need a place to start. There is just one downfall,
no fault of the publisher, not all events in your state are listed. Too bad for them!!! However, you can find out how to
register and get involved by the little known publishings your area puts out. On a wider scale, if you are traveling you
can plan a trip and make some dough and possibly write the expense off. This is a great book.

Tom Massey explores sound, unchanging principles of behavior in this simple, understandable guidebook for enriching your life.
He leads the reader step by step to inner strength and achievement. The format of the book takes each letter of the alphabet
represented by two words. Each short chapter is made up of a succinct inspirational challenge, an activity, and an affirmation.
It is made up of 52 words or chapters designed to be read, reviewed, and assimilated for a week.
Topics include principles of acceptance, attitude, exercise, hope, humor, joy, knowledge, music, sleep, tolerance, virtue, youthfulness, and forty other tips for personal and professional benefit and growth.
I was reminded of the importance of offering validation and encouragement to those I care about, as well as looking for opportunities to commit random acts of thoughtfulness, and caring to others, sometimes perfect strangers, knowing that what I give away will come back to me.
Tom also gave practical suggestions for confiding your feelings to a daily journal. By journaling these thoughts and cares daily I am growing personally as well as enhancing my total health.
Through application of these workable, practical, suggestions you will experience enrichment, enlightenment, and empowerment for abundant living. From "Acceptance" through "Zest" you, will benefit from these stimulating, practical tips.
