This book has absolutely everything just as the title states.
The best part is the size of the book, and that it lies flat, for the full size Quilting Designs, which are Spectacular, there all Full-Size(no connect here!), as are all the Applique Templates(no enlarge 400%). I Love the Coxcomb Quilt, it is absolutely a pleasure to make, and then have all the Quilt Designs as well, so you don't have to go to 3 different books to finish one Quilt. Excellent Book, soooo Glad I purchased it, It was a wonderful Surprise, especially since there was no photo, better than most books, that had a cover picture!!! Oh! and Great Price!!!

At the heart of this brilliant book is the historical concert at Massey Hall, Toronto with Dizzy Gillispie, Charlie Parker,
Charles Mingus, Max Roach and Bud Powell. The author begins the book with bios of each man, tracing their musical evolution
and significance in jazz up to the moment of the concert. After the incredibly detailed description of the concert, Haydon
follows each player as they go their own way into jazz history.
Haydon is that rare sort of music writer who has an incredible technical grasp of his subject and is able to write about it passionately but without gushing effusion or mystification. His analysis of the music of the concert in particular is remarkably acute and perceptive. He writes about each man with great clarity and humanity. I found his narrative about Bud Powell particularly fascinating and well done.
He also devotes much space to describing the important recordings of the men prior to and after the concert in the same highly detailed fashion.
Wonderfully readable and informative, this book should be in the library of anyone interested in bebop in particular and jazz in general. Excellent stuff!

Ask the Man Who's Flown One

Aviation history usually is produced by dedicated enthusiasts who have never flown the airplanes they describe. In fact,
many competent authors have never flown anything. But Bob Powell's history of the Vigilante is unusual in that he not only
knows the subject, he's flown the RA-5 and "waved" it as an LSO. The result is an unusual depth of knowledge for this topic
and for the Osprey series on combat aircraft. Tracing the development of heavy attack in the US Navy, the text describes
the design and development of the beautifully crafted "Vige", its combat employment...and something more. Within the "VHA"
squadrons there emerged an esprit and sense of community that remains unsurpassed not only in the navy but in military aviation.
The pride and satisfaction of mastering a demanding aircraft are part and parcel of the RA-5 story, and are well described
here.

A great read for anyone that grew up in a "foreign" country- especially if those countries include South Africa, Australia
or Brazil. The book is a pleasant mix of nostalgia and historical trivia that dovetail in a series of short chapters that
chronicle the author's fascinating life.
I thoroughly enjoyed skipping around the chapters (they do not need to be read consecutively), each one tied to a particular moment in history or triggering a fond personal memory. Buy this book and read it bit by bit; you will enjoy.

The book talks to young people where they are. The stories are moving and very real. I feel anyone of any age would do well
to read it.
The photographs and poetry are excellent. Not prechy. With 1 in 3 teens admitting to depresion it should be required reading. Would like to see more from this author

This thin little volume is a fine example of the "recorded sayings" genre of Chan/Zen literature. Enigmatic yet humorous,
unpretentious yet profound, terse yet poetic. William Powell really catches the flavor of the text in his translation, and
his introduction and annotations helpfully orient the reader and fill in the knowledge that the anonymous writers/compilers
would have assumed on the part of their readership. The approach is scholarly and sensitive to the work's literary qualtities
and religious significance at the same time. An afternoon with "The Record of Tung-shan" is an afternoon well-spent.

The reason I love this book adaptation of the film is because it goes it to details that are not shown in the film. You
get to enter in to the thoughts of the characters. Considering what a expressive film The Red Shoes was, that this only
brings more depth to it is wonderful. That only increases my love of the film. It is one of my favorite film of all time,
but not just that all of Powell's and Pressburger's films were amazing. I recommend it to ballet fans everywhere.

The authors illustrate this coevolution convincingly, mostly by the case of brother-sister incest.
In fact, this theory tells us how the mind is 'formed', but doesn't explain the origin (come into being) of the mind. The title is a little bit misleading.
It is an original work, because it broadens Darwinism with cultural aspects.
It is also an important work, because it counters the Standard Social Science Model which proposes a fundamental division between biology and culture.
Not to be missed.
