The number of reproductions and the quality of the printing in this book is unsurpassed in any other Bellmer book i have seen. I own seven others, which were nearly impossible to track down, and cost me and arm and a leg.... and if this book were out earlier, this one alone may have completed my Hans Bellmer collection.
for me, what really drew me in to getting this book was the number of paintings that are reproduced- this is rarity, as most books focus either exclusively on his drawings or photography.
the range of work represented in this book is astonishing, and makes it a truly comprehensive retrospective of Bellmers life work. there are examples of his early drawings, portraits, and landscapes- which very early on turn to twisted erotic scenes that develop in intricacy and refinement as the book progresses. many paintings and photgraphs are reproduced- the only thing missing seems to be examples of his etchings (which are collected in the book "Graveur"- definitely up there as one of the best).
the complete text of Bellmer's essay "the Doll" is included, as well as some decent essays by art theorists.

if you are a Bellmer fan, this book is a must have. it is a godsend for people who have been so far unable to find books of his work- and as a person who already owns a bunch, i can tell you that it is a unbeatable purchase even if you already have a smattering of his books. this is the only one i have been turning to lately, it has basically trumped the others. get it while you still can!!!

I was bitten with the Founding Fathers bug a short while ago and had an urge to read a book on an early American luminary. I was browsing through my library's Founding Fathers book inventory when I somewhat randomly grabbed this Ben Franklin biography. Wow! What a treat. Combine Ben Franklin's dry wit with the author's OWN sense of humor and you have a historical biography which isn't boring or dull but will actually have you cracking up in laughter! There were several occassions when I had to practically put the book down and laugh out loud. What a hoot! I hope Phillips Russell wrote other biographies because I am now a true fan.

Whenever I have a question about my baskets I can refer to the Bentley Guide, It has been helpful to me in my years of collecting and I cannot wait until June when they bring out the sixth edition!

This book is a "must have" for longaberger collectors. All second hand baskets are based on "the bentley". You won't be sorry you made this purchase.

This is one of my most-used cookbooks. It got so worn out I had to order a new one. The range of recipes is amazing, from regular breads to cinnamon rolls to holiday breads to pizzas and calzones. The pictures are extremely helpful, the recipes are well-explained, and they give wonderful hints as to if the dough can be frozen, etc. I had never made bread before I got this book and now we are hooked on having fresh bread. I especially appreciate the breads that rise overnight in the fridge--I can come home from work and still have fresh bread for dinner. They are also much healthier than many breads because they are low fat and you can make rye, whole wheat, and even herb bread. My friends now request that I bring the dinner rolls to every gathering and potluck! And the pizza and cinnamon rolls are a big hit with kids.

Using the 7 Promises of a Promise Keeper as an outline, Bishop Porter addresses issues which speak to today's families and the men which are trying to lead these families. In a frank discussion of issues facing men, he speaks to the hearts and minds of today's men. If you've ever heard Bishop Porter speak or attended a PK event, you will be convicted and have your heart moved. This book is a must read if you wish to become a better father, husband, and mentor.
