Readers Beware - You will be Unable to Put this book Down! Review Date: 2008-08-03
Hancock takes the ultimate fear that all parents and grandparents have of having a child kidnapped and makes it a story that is so much more then just the crime. This book explores the hearts and souls of those involved and weaves us a storyline that captures the reader's attention and will not allow you to put down the book until you find out will happened next.
Hancock has shown he has huge talent and good word skills but he has also shown a creative imagination that is second to none. One certainly gets the feeling that this is just the first of many more stories within this man's head that will some day be put into another fine novel. This was a fully satisfying reading experience.

Good Book on an Underrated PainterReview Date: 2003-07-05
The book includes a chronology of Bonnnard's life, three excellent essays, and some notes from Bonnard's journals. One essay discusses Bonnard's innovations, especially early on and especially his use of photography as a way to prepare for his paintings. Another essay shows how Bonnard's paintings were influenced by his reformed education. A final essay demonstrates Bonnard's debt to Japanese art.
Bonnard's longevity, I think, has kept him from having more of a reputation as an innovator. A quick overview of Bonnard's work shows that he was still painting postimpressionism toward the middle of the 20th Century. His use of different points of view and contrasting colors, and the subservience of the object to the idea make him more than a late impressionist. Basically, I like this guy's work, and this book helped me answer my question, "What is it about this man's painting that I like?"

John W. Brunner has been a college professor for many years and is quite familiar with the craft of research. This study is based on documention in the US National Archives. (For a detailed discussion of the socuments see my review of the author's OSS Weapona)
The book is now in high demand in the after market and brings a premium price.
For most it will be interesting reading but it ia so specialized that few collectors will need it. And who has one of these bows anyway? ;o)
