A very useful radical , exceptional bookReview Date: 2001-05-20
The style of the authors is about the best that I have ever read, honest, blunt, and to the point.
A must book for the few people who are ready to look within.

A WHOLE NEW PERSPECTIVEReview Date: 2006-05-27
A heady, fantastic read for those who are open to the broader viewpoint. To me, the book says basically that we need to evolve away from hating, disliking, shunning or rejecting certain ideas, people, places, and so on. We need to become whole. Jesus said we should "love one another," and I believe Paul Twitchell said, "Never find fault, never criticize." One reason for this is, as Healing Power points out, things we reject/hate just show up in our lives as illness. They show up so we can confront them - because we must! Life wants us to become whole, loving, enlightened - however you like to put it.
And there's much more here. Highly recommended - along with The Flute of God, another major, more-than-inspiring book.

Valuable Reading!Review Date: 2003-04-03
The author provides us with an autobiographical personal saga that is truly riveting; but more importantly he has discretely woven his methods of overcoming his seemingly uncompromising afflictions into this narrative - which are simple, practical techniques that are ours for the taking.
Not your typical novel - and not a traditional self-help guide (although as effective); this book is a treasure-trove of valuable solutions for those who have struggled with maintaining sobriety. I also recommend this book to anyone who could benefit from empowerment, self-love, and peace - especially those who have had difficulty with the concept and achievement of the same.

After reading Mr. Duffy's life story, I am amazed he is on this earth to tell it.

The Amazing "Time Machine"Review Date: 2008-04-14
Pretty neat idea and well-told storyReview Date: 2005-05-09
Of course, it's all well and good to say that recovering images from the past is not the same as being there so it won't violate the laws of physics. *But* photons, while they have zero rest-mass, still interact with other kinds of matter and so it seems to me that removing some of them from the past would have, in principle, the potential to change the past and create paradoxes. After all, if you could remove the photons and hence prevent them from hitting the retina of some important person who, had he or she perceived them, might have ducked ... But, hey, OK, it's science fiction.
This book is a great read and good food for thought. Just don't get too attached to - or identify with - the characters who get killed off! This author (or, rather, the bad guys in his story) or BAAAAd people!

Very Helpful For Your NeedsReview Date: 2003-02-23
This tape helped me feel a sense of closeness to the Holy Spirit like never before. I loved it that Ron is very to-the-point. He doesn't congest his message with superfluous material or stories that go on and on and on and on for 20 minutes and carrying only one point. Rather, every minute is chokeful of information for you to think about and ruminate over. Repeated listenings will cull new information.
It is also very inspiring when you need a pick-me-up on those days when you forget about the power within you and its limitless potential to help you in your difficulties.
hope this helps.

The Right and Righteous Stuff!Review Date: 2001-06-12
Especially so as this book focuses on the actual experience of the Holy Spirit as opposed to some abstract theorizing that the Holy Spirit is 'just' a metaphor etc. This book is a good antidote for the devotees of the it's-all-just-a-metaphor theory!
Now having read most of it, I find it to be a valuable 'hands-on' (hehe) guide to prayer and study excercises designed to orient one to receiving this power in their life.
It is not an exhaustive history or 'exegesis' (thank God!), but a very personal account of what one long-time minister, Ron Roth, has found to actually work in conveying the Holy Spirit to others.
I also appreciated Mr. Roth's descriptions of how common it is nowadays to feign or fake the experience of the Holy Spirit in contemporary American Christianity. This explained a lot to me about the excesses of contemporary televangelism etc.
There are also many references in the book to other faiths and traditions, such as Rumi etc, which may turn off those of a fundamentalist bent, or those opposed to any tinge of 'New Age' ecumenicalism, but this may also encourage others, such as the fans of Matthew Fox or Thomas Merton.
Though there is some discussion of the cross-faith experience of the Holy Spirit, as in Rumi, I dont recall him mentioning the kundalini experience per se, which many consider to be a different name for the same thing.
One other very minor detraction of the book for me, was the emphasis on a 'positive thinking / prosperity' message. Those of us who suffer from depression (and who, God knows, could use the Holy Spirit's healing) may find themselves being 'put down' (though no doubt unintentionally) for their depression before they can find the healing they seek from the Holy Spirit.
I have read in the African-American Gospel music tradition that depression can be a sign of seeking, such as in the descriptions of the 'Mourner's Bench' and being 'Heavy of heart' and feeling 'oppressed' (see the classic book 'God Struck Me Dead' by Johnson).
So a more sympathetic treatment of the sufferers of depression (or 'loser's limp' as Mr. Roth calls it) might help Mr. Roth's message, in my very humble opinion.
After all, the Gospel music experience of 'Getting Happy' doesnt always come without a little time spent on the 'Mourner's Bench'!

A marvellous tribute to a marvellous actor & gentleman!Review Date: 2004-11-15
In all sincerity, Peter Cushing is my favoriteReview Date: 2006-02-17
To begin with, Mr. Gullo is not a particularly engaging writer, even taking into consideration that this is basically a movie bio. He's stiff, and his grammar is not the best. He also likes to add his personal critique of each film, which is generally fawning, and eventually annoying.
Then there's his accuracy. I'm a big fan of the early Hammer works, especially The Curse of Frankenstein, and Horror of Dracula (in fact, I don't think that they receive the credit deserved for the high level of fright delivered to their unsuspecting audiences, with taut screenplays, vivid effects, dynamic scores, and believable acting). So I was dismayed when Mr. Gullo recounted storylines from both of these little classics incorrectly. It made me wonder if he had ever seen the very films that launched the horror career of the subject of his own book. He then refers to a trademark Cushing habit of holding up his forefinger to emphasize a point as having originated in The Hound of the Baskervilles, which is inaccurate---Cushing does this in both "Frankenstein" and "Dracula", and both predate "Baskervilles"---irritating to the devotee.
So, is this book worth buying? Yeah, if you're a Cushing fan. He was the greatest. The best Baron Frankenstein and Van Helsing that I've ever seen. There are interviews, some nice pictures, and interesting tidbits (such as Cushing and Lee loving to watch Warner Brother cartoons together). It's a little pricey at $24.99, but with the extra cash maybe Mr. Gullo can now buy The Curse of Frankenstein and Horror of Dracula on DVD and see what he's been missing.
If you love Cushing, buy this book!Review Date: 2005-02-26
This is the first time I observed such a faux pas from Amazon and I hope this can be rectified as the book deserves to be easily found via a regular title search.
The title refers to the way Cushing always signed his letters or autographs. It's become such a trademark for him that if you ever come across a signed item from him that does not carry this sentence, it more than likely is not authentic.
Cushing was one of the most popular actors of the Horror Screen. Both admired by public and fellow colleagues as the "gentle man" of horrors, he was one of the last of a breed of courteous and ever polite people who seem to belong to a long forgotten era. There doesn't appear to be *anyone* who has even the slightest disparaging thing to say about him.
There are already a number of excellent books on Cushing on the market, but the angle of this one is that the author had approached as many of Cushing's fellow-actors and directors that he could get in contact with.
As such the book is told from the perspective of celebrities who knew him and freely shared their insights into this man's personality. His love for his wife Helen is well documented and runs like a thread through the whole book.
When I initially heard about the project I expected a thin booklet with a couple of quotations by the people interviewed. I couldn't believe it when I noticed that the final product covers more than 400 pages and as such is one of the most in depth books about the actor on the market. It is very well researched and the only thing annoying is the lack of an index, something that would have come in handy to find all the relevant quotations again. The actual interview passages are also a little bit too much in the simple form of "What was it like working with....?", but these are only minor niggles and shouldn't deter anyone from reading this book.
At the beginning of every chapter you will also find illustrations from comic artist Neil ("Black Forest"/"Wicked West") Vokes.

From here, the more complex issues of special relativity are dealt with in an orderly fashion; e.g. rigid body dynamics, relativistic hydrodynamics and electromagnetic theory from a relatavistic point of view.
General tensor analysis is covered in a separate chapter for pursuing the general relativity chapters of the book. Incidentally, this chapter is among the most clear expositions on tensors out there.
Finally, general relativity is covered in the same stepwise fashion as was done in the special relativity chapters. The natural introduction of more complex ideas which start from basics is perhaps, the single reason why this book is a hard to beat introduction to relativity.
After a thorough digestion of Bergmann, one is ready to spring up to the next level, the masterful Weinberg.

The reader will also get an overview of early approaches to unified field theories. Historians of science will be interested in particular with this discussion. It is amazing how much has changed in this area since this book was published in 1942. The advent of superstring and M-theory has given physicists a view of reality that is set on a mathematical structure that is quite formidable. It now takes years for a student to obtain the necessary mathematical background to reach the frontiers of unified theories. In this book, it only takes the reading of the first two parts to be able to understand the author's overview of unified field theories. Particular attention should be paid to the treatment of the gauge-invariant geometry of Hermann Weyl, because of its relevance to the construction of gauge theories in elementary particle physics. The geometry of Weyl is constructed using a symmetric tensor representing the gravitational field and a pseudovector that represents the vector potential. When a gauge transformation is applied to this vector potential, it changes by a gradient, which, as the author remarks, is the historical reason for calling the addition of a gradient to the electromagnetic vector potential a gauge transformation. In addition, variational principles play a role in this discussion, and these principles have wide applicability to the quantization of gauge theories in modern developments. The role played by adding extra dimensions to formulate a field theory is summarized here by the author in his discussion of five-dimensional field theories and Kaluza-Klein theories. Ten- and eleven-dimensional theories now dominate modern unified theories. It would be very interesting to know what the author and Einstein would have thought about the theories of today, entrenched as they are in the most complex mathematical constructions ever applied to physical theory.

Rather than blocking or destroying illness, we can learn from it. Paradoxical, yes. Give a minute of your thoughts to this affirmation. Our body is just showing us the way we were unable to follow in our free consciousness. Learn from your illness, then your illness becomes useless and fades away. Illness represents the last opportunity for evolution. Whatever you do for healing, pay simultaneous attention to the only true healing. Take the challenge!
