BE YOUR OWN EXPERT GUIDE IN TRUE LEARNING

Now I don't need to write my book anymore. It is already written, and probably much better...
Rather than blocking or destroying illness, we can learn from it. Paradoxical, yes. Give a minute of your thoughts to this affirmation. Our body is just showing us the way we were unable to follow in our free consciousness. Learn from your illness, then your illness becomes useless and fades away. Illness represents the last opportunity for evolution. Whatever you do for healing, pay simultaneous attention to the only true healing. Take the challenge!

A very useful radical , exceptional book

This book is for the brave few, who want to know why something happens to them , why they get diseases, how to interpret them, and more importantly to take ownership and responsibility for their illness, rather than blaming germs, viruses, genes and the like.

The style of the authors is about the best that I have ever read, honest, blunt, and to the point.

A must book for the few people who are ready to look within.

This book is for select few, who are willing to see reality as reality - not fantasy. It deals with how mental inclinations lead to illness and shows means to have power over illness

Seminal metaphysical work

For those who find meaning in the books of Louise Hay and other "heal yourself" thinkers, this seminal work may come as a surprise. Originally published in German in 1983, it is in fact the forerunner of many books written in the '90s about the mind/body connection. Deeper and more powerful than the more popular works, it is a perfect gem. When you read about the influence of the mind on our various body systems, you will instantly recognize the symptoms and connecting psychology of your friends, your family, and even yourself. There's more than theory here, too - you'll find questions that will have you re-examining every concept you ever had about illness.

A WHOLE NEW PERSPECTIVE

One man's opinion:
A heady, fantastic read for those who are open to the broader viewpoint. To me, the book says basically that we need to evolve away from hating, disliking, shunning or rejecting certain ideas, people, places, and so on. We need to become whole. Jesus said we should "love one another," and I believe Paul Twitchell said, "Never find fault, never criticize." One reason for this is, as Healing Power points out, things we reject/hate just show up in our lives as illness. They show up so we can confront them - because we must! Life wants us to become whole, loving, enlightened - however you like to put it.
And there's much more here. Highly recommended - along with The Flute of God, another major, more-than-inspiring book.

G. Peter Duffy graciously escorts us through his troubled life...his own experience of repeated attempts at sobriety offers us exposure the virtual hopelessness of the chronically addicted; and then he proves it all wrong - his complete account convinces us that no one is hopeless!

The author provides us with an autobiographical personal saga that is truly riveting; but more importantly he has discretely woven his methods of overcoming his seemingly uncompromising afflictions into this narrative - which are simple, practical techniques that are ours for the taking.

Not your typical novel - and not a traditional self-help guide (although as effective); this book is a treasure-trove of valuable solutions for those who have struggled with maintaining sobriety. I also recommend this book to anyone who could benefit from empowerment, self-love, and peace - especially those who have had difficulty with the concept and achievement of the same.

After reading Mr. Duffy's life story, I am amazed he is on this earth to tell it.

"Hey God I'm Home," is a must read for anyone who has experienced the crisis of addiction, self loathing, loss, abandonment and every other human dilemma that we are prone to. We are born innocent but our indoctrination from the cradle to the grave tells us we are guilty. What is it we are actually guilty of-- is the question G. Peter poses--our own sins or the sins handed down to us? G. Peter Duffy weaves a personal philosophy that is universal. As soon as we forget the sins of our father we can get on with ourselves. "It's about time we gave our thinking some thought...We all live with second hand beliefs..." The author takes us on a journey from his gutter bound existence to a Jacob's Ladder. G. Peter Duffy tells his true story and leaves nothing out. If you don't come out of this reading with a better grip on yourself, well then you didn't read it right. If this man conquered what he truly says he did, well, then there's hope for all of us. A must read for anyone struggling with addiction as well as looking to find their inner source of spirituality. G. Peter Duffy tells it like it is but tells it like no one else ever did.

This is a wonderful and insightful read. COL Hilgartners literary approach to his experiences in Korea and Vietnam is simple but poignant. Leadership is an art, but this tried and tested combat commander provides his readers with the basic foundation necessary to develop successful warriors even in todays modern military. The author uses anecdotes of his times in the Naval Academy, serving in multiple facets of Marine Corps life, and even his hunting expeditions in the woods of Northern Virgina to ensure the book is fun while at the same time teaching a critical lesson. Even this Marine's insights will be good for those of us that call the Army home - Three HOOAHs for this book. Outstanding Job, Semper Fi.

A thoroughly enjoyable read. Witty and engaging, but at the same time, thought provoking and full of wisdom. Leadership is an art. Like any other form of art it requires energy, enthusiasm and creativity. A select few are masters of this art form, blessed with the intuition and insight which mark the truly great leader. Colonel Hilgartner is such a leader. The anecdotes which pepper his narrative provide valuable lessons for those who would lead others, whether in battle or in business. The short vignettes which make up this book make it an ideal read for subway commuters and others who are often interrupted. Its easy-going humor and thoughtful insights make it a book which I will go back to over and over again.

This book is an easy read about achievement of goals and successful leadership of Marines. It focuses on three important battles in Vietnam fought in the spring/summer of 1967 by a Marine officer who also served in Korea. His competency and bravery as a soldier are inspirational to me as I also served in Vietnam. There are great anecdotes about him and his men and the combat stories are gripping. I don't usually like books about Vietnam but this one was an enjoyable read.

Hindsight is a well-written look at what would happen if we could look into the past, at any time and see what really happened. It explored the kind of people who would want to see this invention succeed, the people who would want it to fail and what happens when these sides clash. I read this book within a matter of two days, and found myself unable to stop wondering what was going to happen next. I'm hoping and praying for a sequel!

No, it's not _The Great Gatsby_ but I gave this book 5 stars because I've always liked stories about marvelous new machines/technologies with world-changing potential and because the idea of a time machine that could simply recover images from the past is such a simple one that its surprising that no one's written a story (at least I don't think so) about it before. The author does a good job of sketching out the potential for spying, law enforcement, historical research and, yes, revisiting alleged miraculous/supernatural events including those on which major world religions were founded. Even then he's barely scratched the surface (which is all we expect a good storyteller to do).

Of course, it's all well and good to say that recovering images from the past is not the same as being there so it won't violate the laws of physics. *But* photons, while they have zero rest-mass, still interact with other kinds of matter and so it seems to me that removing some of them from the past would have, in principle, the potential to change the past and create paradoxes. After all, if you could remove the photons and hence prevent them from hitting the retina of some important person who, had he or she perceived them, might have ducked ... But, hey, OK, it's science fiction.

This book is a great read and good food for thought. Just don't get too attached to - or identify with - the characters who get killed off! This author (or, rather, the bad guys in his story) or BAAAAd people!

Hindsight is a interesting story about scientists who create a machine that allows them to look back in time. This simple concept is handled quite well with a mix of realistic hard science fiction and suspense that makes it hard to put down. The characters are compelling and believable and the plot twists are unexpected. Most interesting (to me, at least) is how the author delves into the far reaching effects that observing past events can have, both on individual privacy and on society as a whole. Overall this is one of the most enjoyable technothrillers I've read.

Closer to science fact than science fiction

I am a techie (Silicon Valley electrical engineer, MIT grad) and never enjoyed science fiction. While Hindsight might technically be classified as sci-fi, it is not of the shoot-'em-up outer-space vintage. Rather, this novel is well grounded in physics, life on earth, and human nature. The story is entirely plausible and is well developed. Hindsight is the kind of book that makes you want to stay up to read the next chapter to see what happened.

I loved this taped series. It is very energetic and lively. The information is succinct yet well explained. I felt surges of excitement listening to this. I also felt myself slowly being enlightened. I am a Christian myself, but I did not have a problem learning from Ron's teachings. What he taught increased my faith for healing.

This tape helped me feel a sense of closeness to the Holy Spirit like never before. I loved it that Ron is very to-the-point. He doesn't congest his message with superfluous material or stories that go on and on and on and on for 20 minutes and carrying only one point. Rather, every minute is chokeful of information for you to think about and ruminate over. Repeated listenings will cull new information.

It is also very inspiring when you need a pick-me-up on those days when you forget about the power within you and its limitless potential to help you in your difficulties.

hope this helps.

I was listening to the tape one night when I was in the midst of a crisis with my health. As I listened, I brought my full intention to Ron's words, praying for a direct experience of the holy spirit. I suddenly became aware of a very large bright light expanding outward from my heart. It lasted about 4 seconds. I felt this remarkable feeling of warmth, comfort and peace that did not take away my problems but soothed me and made me feel like everything *was* alright. If anyone is looking for a way to bring the holy spirit directly into their experience, I highly recommend this book. Ron Roth is such a strong conduit for the message that the holy spirit is there for us to experience, we just need to get out of the way (I am obviously a work in progress in this regard). Blessings to all.

The author of this book is himself an exemplified power house of energy, love, Spirit and Mysticism. Should the opportunity to attend one of his seminars present itself...run, don't walk. In this book he offers the reader a clear explanation of the underlying principles of Spirit. It's done so with humor, honesty, wisdom and exhuberance. If you have ever challenged, questioned or encountered self-doubt with regard to the presence of Spirit within yourself or others, you will find this book presents a modern, objective non-idealistic view of God. As a former Catholic priest with an extensive background in theology, his intrepretation of liturgy, symbolism, scriptures and Spirit is appealing and simplistic. This book offers practical appication of Spirit energy to every day situations from diet to business endeavors. Regardless of religious denomimation this book promises to be both an enjoyable and empowering read.

Being a fan of author Peter Occhiogrosso's other book - 'Through the Labyrinth' - and having had some small experience of the vast love and power of the Holy Spirit myself - from listening to African American Gospel Music (by sister Dorothy Love-Coates et. al., 'THE GREAT 1955 SHRINE CONCERT' on Specialty CD# SPCD-7045-2) I was eager to read this book on the Holy Spirit.

Especially so as this book focuses on the actual experience of the Holy Spirit as opposed to some abstract theorizing that the Holy Spirit is 'just' a metaphor etc. This book is a good antidote for the devotees of the it's-all-just-a-metaphor theory!

Now having read most of it, I find it to be a valuable 'hands-on' (hehe) guide to prayer and study excercises designed to orient one to receiving this power in their life.

It is not an exhaustive history or 'exegesis' (thank God!), but a very personal account of what one long-time minister, Ron Roth, has found to actually work in conveying the Holy Spirit to others.

I also appreciated Mr. Roth's descriptions of how common it is nowadays to feign or fake the experience of the Holy Spirit in contemporary American Christianity. This explained a lot to me about the excesses of contemporary televangelism etc.

There are also many references in the book to other faiths and traditions, such as Rumi etc, which may turn off those of a fundamentalist bent, or those opposed to any tinge of 'New Age' ecumenicalism, but this may also encourage others, such as the fans of Matthew Fox or Thomas Merton.

Though there is some discussion of the cross-faith experience of the Holy Spirit, as in Rumi, I dont recall him mentioning the kundalini experience per se, which many consider to be a different name for the same thing.

One other very minor detraction of the book for me, was the emphasis on a 'positive thinking / prosperity' message. Those of us who suffer from depression (and who, God knows, could use the Holy Spirit's healing) may find themselves being 'put down' (though no doubt unintentionally) for their depression before they can find the healing they seek from the Holy Spirit.

I have read in the African-American Gospel music tradition that depression can be a sign of seeking, such as in the descriptions of the 'Mourner's Bench' and being 'Heavy of heart' and feeling 'oppressed' (see the classic book 'God Struck Me Dead' by Johnson).

So a more sympathetic treatment of the sufferers of depression (or 'loser's limp' as Mr. Roth calls it) might help Mr. Roth's message, in my very humble opinion.

After all, the Gospel music experience of 'Getting Happy' doesnt always come without a little time spent on the 'Mourner's Bench'!

In fact, my younger brother had failed an LPN course with the Army; I rushed him the book and told him to follow Ron's advice. I would highly recommend it to anyone else that needs a book for the same purpose...If you are learning Illustrator for the first time or need something to really go deep into the program you might be better off with another book

The book is organized in logical steps and the authors speaks in plain english which makes the instructions very easy to understand. The method of teaching in this book allows you to understand why you're performing a certain action. The book shows you how to create results with detailed instructions and mini pictures of Illustrator's tools and menu system. I found that the lessons tied in nicely and it provided me with a natural progression of learning. This book is great for print and web professionals. I found the chapter named Web to be very helpful to myself because I intend to use the complete Creative Suite to create my web pages. There are examples for each technique that is explained. If you have basic or decent Illustrator skills I can't see how this book can't help you. I became so proficient at Illustrator in such a short period of time that my wife marveled at some of my designs. I couldn't believe it myself to be honest. I've never learned software from a book form; I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised with the results. Even if you don't absorb all of the information in the book, the index makes it easy refresh your memory or learn of a new technique. There is a pattern to this book that allows you to absorb the information very easily. Outstanding book.

I purchased this book upon the recommendation of my professor for a college class in Computer Design. It is my first experience with the Visual QuickStart Guides and I am very impressed. It has been a valuable tool in helping me understand and use this previously unfamiliar software application. The table of contents is clear and well organized and the index is very extensive--I refer to it constantly. The book uses many illustrations with clear instructions and explanations. Commands and shortcuts and given for both Mac and Windows. I would definitely purchase another Visual QuickStart Guide.

The book has helped me learned or brush up on the application in matter of minutes. It's concise and it saves time when learning new things during crunch time. For more, in-depth, sunject matter, a more advanced book is required. This done does a job well for beginners!

If you are a fan [like many of us] or just have a passing interest in one of the truly great actors of the past 60 years, then this book is a must. Although there have been plenty of recent books devoted to the life and times of Peter Cushing, this volume stands out due to the meticulous research by the author along with it's easy flowing style. A joy to read and a future source book for fans of the great man I'm sure - packed from cover to cover with fascinating details of the great man and his career. Well done Chris - step out!! 5 Stars!

In all sincerity, Peter Cushing is my favorite

Author Christopher Gullo chronicles the career of Mr. Cushing, from his earliest work to his last days, and in general it is an entertaining read; it does, though, have some shortcomings.

To begin with, Mr. Gullo is not a particularly engaging writer, even taking into consideration that this is basically a movie bio. He's stiff, and his grammar is not the best. He also likes to add his personal critique of each film, which is generally fawning, and eventually annoying.

Then there's his accuracy. I'm a big fan of the early Hammer works, especially The Curse of Frankenstein, and Horror of Dracula (in fact, I don't think that they receive the credit deserved for the high level of fright delivered to their unsuspecting audiences, with taut screenplays, vivid effects, dynamic scores, and believable acting). So I was dismayed when Mr. Gullo recounted storylines from both of these little classics incorrectly. It made me wonder if he had ever seen the very films that launched the horror career of the subject of his own book. He then refers to a trademark Cushing habit of holding up his forefinger to emphasize a point as having originated in The Hound of the Baskervilles, which is inaccurate---Cushing does this in both "Frankenstein" and "Dracula", and both predate "Baskervilles"---irritating to the devotee.

So, is this book worth buying? Yeah, if you're a Cushing fan. He was the greatest. The best Baron Frankenstein and Van Helsing that I've ever seen. There are interviews, some nice pictures, and interesting tidbits (such as Cushing and Lee loving to watch Warner Brother cartoons together). It's a little pricey at $24.99, but with the extra cash maybe Mr. Gullo can now buy The Curse of Frankenstein and Horror of Dracula on DVD and see what he's been missing.

If you love Cushing, buy this book!

First things first: It's a pity that the author may lose a few sales seeing that Amazon - probably *the* major online venue for books - has listed this book under an incorrect title. The correct title is IN ALL SINCERITY... PETER CUSHING, not "In all sincerely" which doesn't even make any sense grammatically.

This is the first time I observed such a faux pas from Amazon and I hope this can be rectified as the book deserves to be easily found via a regular title search.

The title refers to the way Cushing always signed his letters or autographs. It's become such a trademark for him that if you ever come across a signed item from him that does not carry this sentence, it more than likely is not authentic.

Cushing was one of the most popular actors of the Horror Screen. Both admired by public and fellow colleagues as the "gentle man" of horrors, he was one of the last of a breed of courteous and ever polite people who seem to belong to a long forgotten era. There doesn't appear to be *anyone* who has even the slightest disparaging thing to say about him.

There are already a number of excellent books on Cushing on the market, but the angle of this one is that the author had approached as many of Cushing's fellow-actors and directors that he could get in contact with.

As such the book is told from the perspective of celebrities who knew him and freely shared their insights into this man's personality. His love for his wife Helen is well documented and runs like a thread through the whole book.

When I initially heard about the project I expected a thin booklet with a couple of quotations by the people interviewed. I couldn't believe it when I noticed that the final product covers more than 400 pages and as such is one of the most in depth books about the actor on the market. It is very well researched and the only thing annoying is the lack of an index, something that would have come in handy to find all the relevant quotations again. The actual interview passages are also a little bit too much in the simple form of "What was it like working with....?", but these are only minor niggles and shouldn't deter anyone from reading this book.

At the beginning of every chapter you will also find illustrations from comic artist Neil ("Black Forest"/"Wicked West") Vokes.

As the editor of "In All Sincerity. . . Peter Cushing," I am somewhat biased, but as a reader of fine biography, Christopher Gullo has done an amazing job with this book. His research is meticulous, as is his ability to tell a great story through the use of facts and data. His insight is deep yet constrained and reveals many ephemeral details that Cushing himself often glossed over or ignored due to his modesty and lack of self-aggrandizement. As his first book effort, Gullo has done himself and Peter Cushing a great service. Compared to other works on this subject, "In All Sincerity" epitomizes the nature of a true devotee and leaves the proverbial door wide open for more research and exploration on a fabulous actor and a true "Gentle Man" of the human race.

In All Sincerity, I love this book!

If you are a Peter Cushing fan, then you MUST buy this book. It will give you a detailed history of Peter's life and take you on a journey you won't forget. Knowing Peter as I did, I know he would be proud that "In All Sincerity" was written about him.

A wonderful book, a wonderful title and a wonderful writer! Christpher Gullo has left us ALL Peter's legacy to be enjoyed for years to come, and for ALL new Peter Cushing fans.

Peter Cushing was my hero.

Peter was able to give examples which made the complex easier to understand. The edges of the first sections in a copy in the Caltech library were black from use. I was privileged to be a guinea pig for the first edition.

Don't know of a superior first exposure to relativity. It starts with elementary situations and examines the conflicts with pre-relativistic kinematical viewpoints. This motivates the requirements for special relativities' postulates and their immediate consequences.

From here, the more complex issues of special relativity are dealt with in an orderly fashion; e.g. rigid body dynamics, relativistic hydrodynamics and electromagnetic theory from a relatavistic point of view.

General tensor analysis is covered in a separate chapter for pursuing the general relativity chapters of the book. Incidentally, this chapter is among the most clear expositions on tensors out there.

Finally, general relativity is covered in the same stepwise fashion as was done in the special relativity chapters. The natural introduction of more complex ideas which start from basics is perhaps, the single reason why this book is a hard to beat introduction to relativity.

After a thorough digestion of Bergmann, one is ready to spring up to the next level, the masterful Weinberg.

A masterpiece in physics.

This book describes the foundations of relativity in a clear and concise way. The development of tensor analysis is especially clear. It is great for anyone who has studied calculus, differential equations, and classical physics. I highly recommend it.

Hey, it's endorsed by big Al, himself. The math intro pretty much does it all, but it would be good if you have a firm grasp of vector calculus, and linear algebra. And intro undergraduate physics wouldn't hurt, either.

This book is one of the first introductions to the theory of relativity that has the endorsement of the discoverer of the theory. Albert Einstein was alive when the book was first published, and writes the foreward to the book. Individuals who want to learn relativity should still take a look at this book, in spite of the somewhat outdated mathematical notation. In more contemporary textbooks and monographs the physical intuition is usually sacrificed and replaced with mathematical formalism. But here the author puts the main emphasis on the physics behind the subject. It is one of the few books still in print that discusses the relativistic mechanics of mass points and continuous matter.

The reader will also get an overview of early approaches to unified field theories. Historians of science will be interested in particular with this discussion. It is amazing how much has changed in this area since this book was published in 1942. The advent of superstring and M-theory has given physicists a view of reality that is set on a mathematical structure that is quite formidable. It now takes years for a student to obtain the necessary mathematical background to reach the frontiers of unified theories. In this book, it only takes the reading of the first two parts to be able to understand the author's overview of unified field theories. Particular attention should be paid to the treatment of the gauge-invariant geometry of Hermann Weyl, because of its relevance to the construction of gauge theories in elementary particle physics. The geometry of Weyl is constructed using a symmetric tensor representing the gravitational field and a pseudovector that represents the vector potential. When a gauge transformation is applied to this vector potential, it changes by a gradient, which, as the author remarks, is the historical reason for calling the addition of a gradient to the electromagnetic vector potential a gauge transformation. In addition, variational principles play a role in this discussion, and these principles have wide applicability to the quantization of gauge theories in modern developments. The role played by adding extra dimensions to formulate a field theory is summarized here by the author in his discussion of five-dimensional field theories and Kaluza-Klein theories. Ten- and eleven-dimensional theories now dominate modern unified theories. It would be very interesting to know what the author and Einstein would have thought about the theories of today, entrenched as they are in the most complex mathematical constructions ever applied to physical theory.
