Perry Books

I was very surprised to pick up this book when I was in the Put in Bay/ Marblehead, Ohio region. If you must have every book about Put in Bay then don't pass this up. This books tells all about the construction of the famous Perry Peace Monument on the island. Pictures show early construction to completion. Another book I'd quickly purchase before it goes out of print.

In 1981 while I was attending a French Immersion Program at Laval University in Quebec, I came across this book at the campus library. I read the book in one sitting, finding it to be well written and fast paced. After a recent vacation in Quebec, I decided to order the book to read again. Although it took two sittings to read it a second time, I found it to be just as good as the first time. Furthermore, the latest edition with additional maps, diagrams, pictures and comment by Donald Graves makes it even more informative and descriptive. This book is highly recomended for a thoughtful and informed knowledge of the events in Quebec in 1759.

In book 9 of this great Space Opera, Rhodan and his friends continue their quest to discover whether or not "The Planet of Eternal Life" actually exists, or if it is just another rumor.

Rhodan and his pals actually journey through time (using one of the machines left behind by the rulers of the Planet of Eternal Life) to visit a long-dead Arkonide that visited this area many years ago.

If you've been enjoying this series as much as I have, you'll enjoy how Perry Rhodan and a hand picked number of his Mutant Corps use their abilities to get the secret that the long-dead Arkonide holds for them. Without the ability to travel thru time as well as space, the secrets of the Planet of Eternal Life would remain forever undiscovered.

It also amazes me how so many different authors could put together these very interconnected sections of a super Space Opera. Also in this issue was the informal introduction of a character that would play a crucial role in later books. But due to his original German name ("Gucky") a contest was held to decide his new name here in America. Although the picture is of poor quality, you can see what makes Mouse-Beavers so darned funny!

This book also contains another editorial, another science fiction movie section, and another fan letters page. Well worth reading the entire series.

Gai Perry's designs are traditional with a contemporary flair and her directions are excellent. You will be sure to find a quilt you like in this book!

This is the best A&R resource on the planet. Everything is completely updated every other month (6 issues a year). I used this for my band a while back and scored some major contacts that we later used for film placement. We had a demo deal on the table with Elektra (I cold-called them using this directory) until our bass player decided we needed more studio cash and refused to sign the contract. Anyway, this is a great tool to have if you're looking for music industry contacts. I got my copy at getsigned.com and saved about $10 there.

Timothy S. Perry has written a good exposition and introduction to the thought of Hendrik Kraemer. I am student of Dr. Perry at Providence College and Seminary and know him to be an incredible scholar.

No discussion of Religious Pluralism is complete without touching on Kraemer's critique of the entire endeavour. Perry outlines Kraemer's life and thought in the first few chapters and then goes on to both critique and defend him.

I have used this book as a quick resource in a couple of academic papers, and it has pointed me to further study in Kraemer. One idea that I have found particularily useful is Kraemer's idea, and Perry's treatment of it, that there is no such thing as true Pluralism. In the same way that there can never be an unbiased position in debate, Pluralism is nothing more than broad form of the exclusivism that it finds so offensive.

For the Pluralist and the Particularist alike, Perry's introduction to Kraemer will prove to be a valueable read.

The town of Hazard in Perry country, Kentucky is one of the more isolated in the country. In the days before the construction of the railway travel was very difficult, basically only by river.

In 1911 the railroad was coming to Hazard. Uncommonly the railroad hired John G. Kinner to photographically document the 1910 survey and the acquisition of the right-of-way for for the Lexington and Eastern Railway Company. He continued as the official photographer during the construction of the railroad.

Now, almost a hundred years later, the director of the local museum has collected almost two hundred photographs to form the core of this book. As best I can tell, these represent the only collection where the photographs from a single photographer cover the advent of railroading. Only in the last few pages that cover more modern years have other photographs come in.

And if you take the time to stop and look around, you'll discover a new way of seeing things--with humor, insight, and compassion---that you wish you could make your own. I cannot recommend this book highly enough.

This didn't get to be a classic by poor talent or poor writing. Back from when shows made you think, Perry Mason still remains one of the best, relying upon real acting instead of shock value. Plots are actually intelligent, and for most of the episodes, the whodunit strategy is logical.
