My professor recommended this book to me because I hated the book that the school uses for Western Civ... this book is easy to read and understand I highly recommend it.

Saving time when read it and reduce space during busy time, special for me as salesman (account manager)in specialty chemicals manufacturing. This is will be useful for me.

I used this book as a supplement to my A&P lab. I found the pictures to follow along with every lab chapter that included microscope work (which was almost all of them), including skeletal, cardiac, & smooth muscle tissue, and the many types of epithelial and connective tissue. It also gives some great photos of the cranium, vertebrae, and all other bones of the skeleton, skeletal muscles of the human body, a cat dissection, and many more photos. The quality of the photos are first rate and very helpful. There is little time in lab to memorize all of the types of tissue and bone seen through a microscope and this caused us all some stress to know we had to memorize these microscope views for the following week's quiz. There are few locations where you can find microscope photos outside of class, and this is one of them. I found that I often had an advantage over other classmates by studying from this book outside of class for the next quiz. And, I did get an "A"!

I'm a Biology Professor. I bring this altas to class when I teach plants and the students love it. It has great colored pictures, lots of labeling and an excellent reference when they look at slides.

This book is one my favourites. The author brings you in a very positive and gentle manner to understand that you can make the sun shine in your life. The daily exercices can take only a few minutes in your shedule, precious to create the life you imagine for yourself !

Perry's work could well serve as a model for other authors writing about trees. He clearly has a vast knowledge, based both on scholarly research and on field experience, of the world's most complex national pine flora. For each species, he presents a detailed description, a detailed description of its habitat, an excellent range map, several photographs (always in black-and-white, unfortunately), remarks on its taxonomic status (essential in light of the uncertain evolutionary relationships among Mexican pines), and a description of where the species may best be seen and exactly how to get there. This last feature will be particularly appreciated by anyone who has had the ambiguous pleasure of wandering around an unfamiliar country trying to find an unusual plant! I also appreciated the fact that Perry is not slow to point out that many of these pines are rare and that they may be in danger of extinction due to logging and habitat destruction. The two chapters dealing with this problem are a worthwhile read for anyone concerned about the loss of forest habitats due to population and development stresses in the Third World.

This third book of the Some Die Mad series deals with Malcolm Ward in the general population of a 1950's Insane Asylum where, it turns out, the superintendent is wackier than the patients and out to do one poor girl grievous sexual harm. Malcolm and friends conspire to foil a true monster who not so incidentally holds their lives in the palm of his hand. This segment is outstanding, superbly written and boils in the conscious like a nightmare already dreamed.

This gorgeously rendered world of the grim and deadly Insane Asylum of the Fifties is a testament to the survival of its author.
