After I read this book, I passed it to my Engineers, and afterwhich I never have a chance to access it anymore, as both my Engineers just won't let go!

This is indeed "THE BIBLE" for Failure Analysis. It covers most of the techniques needed for each type of FA, like X-ray imaging, SAM, Thermal imaging, Metallography, Chemical Characterization, SEM/EDX, and Electronic Failures. The best of it all is that in Part 2, it is organized in terms of equipment techniques; in part 3, it is organized in terms of products, like PCB, PCBA, connection, component, etc. As such it give you the flexibility either go to Part 2 and learn about how and what types of failure analysis a particular equipment can perform, or go to Part 3 and find out the sequence of which equipments is to used first for a particular failure mode.

However, I need to highlight that the though there are tons of photos in the book, the quality of the photos need lots of improvement. Many a times, it takes me long time to figure out what's in the photos. Maybe some highlights or markings at the particular spot of interest in the comparison of the photos would help some novice readers to appreciate better

"Elegy for the Floater" explores the human elements of love, death, and life, with a primary focus on healing from psychological damage inflicted by the sudden suicide of a loved one. Deftly crafted with beautiful imagery throughout, "Elegy for the Floater" is highly recommended to any who have lost a loved one to this terrible occurrence. This is a stunning debut from the author. Sad, funny, poignant, in your face, depressing, alarming, all of it. You read the poems and prose in one sitting and you can't put it down until you are finished and at the Coda. Then, you come up for air and realize you are alive and that it feels so good to breathe.Teresa Carson has something to say here and it is moving and eloquent. If you have been affected by suicide or trauma in your life, this collection of poems and prose will spin your head but also help you heal. Highly recommended and worthy of a National Book Award. She is one of a group of new authors that is to be watched in the years ahead as a tour-de-force in the world of published authors.

This is the best resource on becoming (or having) a spiritual "armorbearer" that I have found. Whether you serve as an adjutant, helper, or assistant to your leader, or if you are a leader and need insight in how to relate to those whom God has assigned to serve the vision of your ministry, this book is for you! Embracing the Spirit of the Armorbearer is uniquely designed and formatted so that half the book is written from the perspective of the one serving, while the other half is designed for those leaders who have armorbearers in their lives. Buy it and sow it into the lives of your leaders. Pastor Mallory has years of "back room" experience that gives rise to the saying "more is caught than is taught." His book is jam-packed with Word-based, spiritual impartation along with practical tools for every-day life application. You won't be disappointed. If you are a leader or if you are an armorbearer to a man or woman of God, you will find this book an invaluable resource for your life, and the lives of those who serve the vision of God alongside you.

Space Opera at its greatest

How much do I love this series? Well, I bought a German course for my computer and have started ordering the originals from Europe. This book introduces the most prolific science fiction series of all time. When the first US rocket lands on the moon, the astronauts find a crew of Arkonides marooned on the dark side. Perry Rhodan, the commander of the US ship, offers to help them in exchange for technology and embarks on a plan to bring the earth up to the level of the Arkonides.
From this book, 2500+ adventures were launched in Germany. The series encompasses a pulp style weekly, comic books, paperbacks and dozens of other products and publications.
About 150 of the novels were published in the US including several books containing 2 stories and about 20 or so published by a now-defunct small publisher. In those available in the English, you'll find such pulp-SF staples as aliens, robot brains that rule entire empires, atomic mutants (from before the X-Men craze), survivors of Atlantis, and a dinosaur infested Venus. Perry's succession of giant spaceships is amazing.
Warning-prepare to be addicted to the series after the 1st several books. My one gripe with the English version is the prevalence of very bad puns inserted by editor Forrest Ackerman. They don't appear in the first few books but become a nuisance after that.
Give it a try.

First book of the world's greatest Space Opera

Review Date: 2004-11-07
"Enterprise Stardust" seems like such an inauspicious beginning to what is now the world's greatest Science Fiction Space Opera.

Although only about 125 books (still an incredible number for any series of books) were translated and reprinted in America, over 1800 (yes, that's right, over one thousand eight hundred!) have been printed in Germany and reprinted in almost every country in the world. The series is still being produced on a weekly basis.

In "Enterprise Stardust" were are introduced to the major characters for the next few years. Two humans, Major Perry Rhodan, commander of the first nuclear powered rocket to the moon, and Captain Reginald Bell become embroiled in an interstellar conflict when they find not only the ruins of a gigantic spaceship on the moon, but they also realize that it is still occupied!

Krest, an Arkonide Scientist, and the military commander, Thora, are found in the ship, along with a few other Arkonides. Krest gives Rhodan access to some of his civilization's fantastic creations in exchange for a promise to attempt to cure a strange disease that he has.

Upon arrival on Earth, Rhodan takes what seems to be at first glance to be a stupid idea - he realizes that the nations of Earth are not ready to handle the technology of the Arkonides, and lands the ship in the middle of the Gobi desert and activates a special force field (of Arkonide design) over the ship. He uses this base to start what will eventually be a galactic empire based on Earth (or what Perry calls "Terra").

Meanwhile, he sends a couple crewmembers to retrieve the material Krest needs for his condition. One is captured, but the other returns, not only with the medicine Krest needs, but a doctor to administer it to him.

This is a very good novel in the best tradition of E. E. (Doc) Smith. It's not good scifi, but it's great Space Opera. Don't let the seemingly slow pace of the first American edition stop you from enjoying this fantastic series. Turn off the logical portion of your mind and sit back and enjoy the story of what happens when one man is given almost limitless powers. It doesn't take Rhodan long to determine that "with great power comes great responsibility".

Well worth picking up an issue or two for traders, as the originals have been out-of-print for sometime. Gee, I wish some enterprising book publisher sees this and gets interested in reprinting and continuing this fine Space Opera.

A Fabulous Introduction to Fables

Review Date: 2006-03-03
B. E. Perry devoted his long career to the study of fables, culminating in his monumental AESOPICA. His edition of Babrius and Phaedrus was his last major work and he put in it every volt of his high-energy intelligence. His volume has a superb introduction that provides a history of the fable in the ancient world, a far longer and more detailed introduction than can be found in most Loeb editions. The translations are clear and Perry's annotations are invaluable. The fables come through very well, with deeply grounded scholarship but no drag of pedantry. Simply the best edition and translation in English.

~Quinn Forrester has a little girl Kristie, Kristie loves her Sunday school teacher Ellie Wayne.
Quinn wanted to find out why Kristie talked about Charles Wayne Ellie's father.
Quinn doesn't like the fact that his mother Gwen is seeing a lot of Charles. So he decides to jump down Ellie's throat about it. What no one knows is that Kristie is praying for God to get Ellie and Quinn together, so she can have a mother as well as a father.
I like Marta Perry, she doesn't preach at you and her books~~ are interesting, although predictable, lets face it if they didn't live happy ever after I wouldn't read the book.~

A FATHER'S PLACE is the fist of Marta Perry's books I've read, and it was wonderful. It was one of the few inspirational books I've read that don't preach at you or go on and on with scripture. The elements of faith were subtle but there, as it is in my own life, and didn't drag attention away from the characters and their struggles with forgiveness and trust--in themselves and in God. Definitely pick this one up; it's a book you don't want to miss.

Fascinating story of the "other" Romanovs
Helpful Votes: 32 out of 32 total.
Review Date: 2003-10-23
As a history fan I am of course familiar with the tragic tale of the fall of the Romanovs and the killings of Nicholas and Alexandra and their children. And of course I was aware that the Romanovs were quite a sprawling family, with lots of Grand Dukes and Duchesses, but I did not know a great deal about these individuals, who are all equally fascinating in their own right - and often even more so, as Nicholas and Alexandra enjoyed a quiet life.

The book commences with the assasination of Alexander II and the ascent to the throne of his son Alexander III. From here we get to know of the young Nicki (later to be Tsar) and his other siblings, including Olga, who had a life of some hardship but did not complain until she died in her 80s. The book covers the revoltion of course, but for those readers wanting to know more about that and the impact on the immediate royal family, I recommend Robert Massie's excellent "Nicholas and Alexandra". What I found of more interest was how the extended royal family fared, some being executed the Bolsheviks, some enduring amazing hardship and escapes, and others being saved by sheer luck.

The final part of the book deals with the remaining Romanovs in exile, and examines the interaction with the competing family groups and individuals who laid claim to the now empty throne. These characters include Kyrill, who is the ancestor of George, the current claimant, and Dimitri, the ultimate playboy who had an affair with Coco Chanel and married an American heiress.

This book is a reminder of how revoltion and war can change the worlds of so many people, and how that change had spread and impacted through a Europe which was also in the throes of dramatic change. We must remember that the Romanovs were descended from or connected by marriage to most of the other royal houses in Europe, and there were many political and dynastic implications of the fall of the Romanovs. This is a fasinating story about fascinating people in a time when the world was turned upside down.

I bought this book at a yard sale for 10 dollars. I knew it was a steal. Fabulous pictures, and every flowering plant suitable for cultivation is described. Arranged taxonomically. Alas...I was broke one Christmas and gave the book to a dear friend whom I had introduced to gardening. He won't give me the book back, so we have become great friends--so that I can visit my old book. I have been searching for a copy for 5 years. Please do not release this review until you find a copy of the book for me. --joe, aka dirtboy.

Just when you think there is nothing new in the world of gardening books along comes a book that restores your faith. Marylyn Abbott's "Gardening with Light and Colour" is such a book. Ms Abbott has not one but two world class gardens - at opposite sides of the world. One is a lovly old English garden that she restored and the other is in the highlands of New South Wales, near Sydney, Australia.

The writer stated out gardening in Australia where seasons change abruptly, there are long spells of 30 degree heat and the sunlight is strong and harsh. Given the opportunity to restore an English garden blessed or cursed with the English damp and misty climate she says "I did not even have the sense to be terrified."

Where she found the energy to create and maintain, even with paid staff, TWO such gardens, and write a book I cannot imagine - but I'm glad she did. (Maybe she had nothing to do on the plane flying back and forth.) This is one of those rare boos that delivers exactly what the title promises; in this case how light and colour in two very different locations affect the choices made in landscape design and plant selection.

The writer has organized her material into eight chapters. The first five each feature a colour, or related group of colours and offer ideas on how best to incorporate them. Chapter Six, "A Rainbow Garden" is about potager gardening and working with the colours of vegetables and herbs. The last two chapters, "Light, Shade and Colour" and "Sparkling Light" talk about ways to work with the colours that already exist around the garden - the house walls, the colour of the soil, the foliage of large trees, shady places, winter light and the light reflected from water.

The tone of the book is light and conversational. The writer is knowledgeable without being infallible. She explains some of her mistakes and what she has learned from them so the reader is less likely to spend time energy and money making similar mistakes.

The illustrations are sensational, possibly the best I've seen in a gardening book. Not only are they great photography but they actually relate to he text.

This is a book both to enjoy and to learn from. Buy it for yourself or as a gift for a gardening friend..

Excellent Reference for the Color Challenged!

The photography in Gardening With Light & Color by Marylyn Abbot, et al is stunning! Great care is taken with the choice of light (such as time of day) the choice of film - (obviously high quality) and the speed at which the image is taken. Truly, a professional photographer, with an eye for color has collected a beautiful journal of some very well planned and groomed gardens.

The artist has an eye for structure and design.

These gardens actually sing!

Because the writer is so conscious of these design elements- they are depicted in the choice of photographs and discussed within the chapters. The size of the garden is discussed and tips to avoid Dull, dreary gardens are discussed chapter after chapter.

These gardens create a mood which will be very helpful to anyone trying to choose what they want to do with their gardening space.

Another book- that I would NOT PART WITH!
