A blueprint for character Review Date: 2007-02-11
A valuable resource for anyone of any age, and far from being a "How to succeed in business" manual, it has an underlying philosophy clearly rooted in the best of American transcendentalism.

Book helps engineers looking at an introduction to BiologyReview Date: 2002-11-28
The main purpose of the book is to remove any phobia one might have towards biology. It neatly explains that Biologists do not know everything about cells (a common misconception of non-biologists). It also shows how they know as much as they know today. Finally, it has passionate interviews from the researchers who say why they continue to do biology daily.
The material is basic enough to be followed, at the same time, informative enough to go to the next level - understanding how genes work. I myself have now become a researcher in biology, thanks to this book. If you have never done biology ever in your life, this book is for you.

FABULOUS! FABULOUS! FABULOUS!Review Date: 2008-07-19
Secrets, secrets, secrets. This book is loaded with them.
Oh, and the transformation in Tiffany is absolutely delightful. Now, you may be wondering who Tiffany is. I'll never tell. Buy the book and find out.
Then there's Jeremy. Oooo la la! Talk about hunky-poo. And British too! Blast! He's one hunk of a man, to be sure. Can I have him? ~wink wink~
And what a better romantic setting than a beach--in a house that gives the word "ugly" a new definition. How Tiffany and Jeremy, along with a few others, end up at the same beach house is hilarious. Even more hilarious is the string of events that happens once they do. Unlike anything I've read before, that's for sure. Fresh as the ocean breeze itself, Beach Dreams, is.
Just who is this Zeke person who seems to show up at the most "divine" times? And then disappears just as quickly as the ocean waves.
Then there's Eve. What can I say about her? Well, remember the first woman Eve in the Bible? Well, there's a reason they share the same name for sure. I'll let you figure out what they have in common.
Oh, and then there's Patti. Eve and her friend are quite the pair.
Orville's a sweetheart. He's the perfect father, to be sure. And what lengths he goes through for his daughter. I love it!
Sean and Vera...who could help but love these two? Even if they...nope...not gonna tell ya anything about them.
Well, I could go on and on about some of the most amazing characters ever. Even those you love to hate. But I'm not going to. You really must buy the book to find out. I'd lend you my copy. But no way! It's a keeper, to be sure!
So, grab your beach towel, your suntan lotion, your picnic basket and cooler loaded with food and cold drinks, and have a fabulous time at the beach...the beach in the story, Beach Dreams, that is.
Happy reading!
Loved this story! Very romantic and fun.Review Date: 2008-07-07
I loved the setting and the activities that took place. The language used by the English was quite fun, if you fancy that sort of thing, LOL! Anyway, Tiffany, the mean girl from the first two books who was humbled and softened at the end of book two, returns in this story as the heroine. She still fights the urge to tell people off and resists the temptation to return to her old ways on occasion, but that made her more real to me.
There were two different times when I got choked up toward the end of this story. I can't tell you what those things were that emotionally moved me because it would spoil the story, but I'll just say that sometimes what you think people believed about you and what you think they meant is not always true. That's the beauty of learning to communicate from the heart. While this book is a great beach read and loads of fun, it's by no means shallow, and on occasion it contains excellent insight into spiritual matters. And those almost-kisses were pure torture! I'm just sad the story had to end.

A welcomed and timely reference...Review Date: 2004-01-27
Dr. Skiffington's coaching books have become industry standard materials throughout the global coaching community and make valuable reference resources for any coaching program.
Today, more and more professional coaches are moving away from reliance on simplistic and mechanical proprietary coaching systems taught by the many commercial coach training schools and are seeking to work with theoretically grounded and empirically validated approaches.
This text book is a detailed and well-crafted exposition of the behavioural science of executive, workplace and personal coaching -technical enough to satisfy the theorists but accessible to those without a background in the behavioural sciences. Authors Dr Skiffington and Zeus present an integrated model of evidence-based coaching which draws on adult learning principles, psychology, management and leadership literature and have integrated it with their considerable experience and research. Some of the key features of the text include: coaching as personal development; learning and behavioral change; the practice of behavioral coaching; client-centered coaching for internal/external coaches; and how behavioral coaching is being used today.
This work makes a significant contribution to establishing coaching as a well-grounded cross-disciplinary means of facilitating human and organisational change. Readership: It is a must-have for current and potential coaches, trainers, HRM personnel, consultants, management generally, academics, small business proprietors, students, professionals and even sports coaches etc.

Blackbeard: The Real Pirate of the CaribbeanReview Date: 2008-07-18
Sand on the DecksReview Date: 2007-11-14
The only fault I can find in the author's delivery, almost to the point of distraction, is the constant use of Thatch as Blackbeard's real name. Most author's that I have read over the past 10+ years favor the use of Teach as the preferred name. That aside, I found the story line well paced and easy to read. The added bits of pirate history, including the obligatory references to Anne Bonny and Mary Read, were well placed in the chronology to give the reader more of a reference to the time period.
The author has omitted an index, but does include a Sources and Further Reading page. The bottom line is that this is as good a biography of the pirate as I have found, and an enjoyable read to boot.

This very fine book represents a catalogue of the project to move Bacon's studio intact to Hugh Lane Gallery in Dublin where the curators have seized on documenting every tube, brush, tossed away sketch, collaged photos, small reproductions of famous artists' works (such as the Velasquez popes), bits of cloth and canvas, and photos of his models, his lovers, and his associates - a daunting task but one so important that it takes this book to define.
Richly photographed by Perry Ogden who manages to capture the atmosphere of claustrophobia that pervades the studio, this book is indispensable to the scholars who find Bacon's visual influences as important as his paintings. The writing that accompanies this photographic essay is highly informative and immensely readable: Gallery Director Barbara Dawson offers a probing insightful examination of Bacon's personal and artistic history in 'Francis Bacon's Studio: A Stimulating Solitude' and the Curator of the Francis Bacon Collection essays 'Finding order in chaos: Francis Bacon's Studio contents'.
Though the book is small (61 pages) it is of utmost importance to those fascinated with the expressionist art of Bacon. An added bonus is a brief but thorough Timeline of Bacon's life. Highly Recommended. Grady Harp, January 06
