Park Books

Frances Park and her sister wrote a beautiful, moving story about the way families were split up during the Korean War. I bought this book initially for my daughter, but enjoyed it just as much as she did. The Korean wording interspersed throughout the book made it even more touching for me. Not only did I find the book educational for my daughter, but a great, interesting book.

The words and the illustrations condense an intense experience of family love, loss and hope into a format which can be shared and appreciated by a very wide range of readers. A beautiful work which can gently launch meaningful and memorable discussions between children, young adults and parents. The themes of sacrifice and freedom are portrayed in a manner which is realistic without being unnecessarily harsh for a younger audience. I very much look forward to future efforts on the part of the two talented authors.

I read this book with my kids and they were fascinated. They memorized many of the scriptures because some of them were also in other stories within the same book. They noticed that and were able to memorize them. I highly recommend this book because, in the world we live, kids need to know there is a God in heaven who loves them, cares for them, and wants the very best heaven can offer. Adults could also learn from the stories found in the book.

I have two daughters (4 and 1 years old) plus a 10-year old step-daughter. All three of my girls absolutely adore this book! Each devotion consists of a story about the kids on Apple Tree Lane, a "Thinking Time" for questions about the story, a "Praying Time" for talking to God about the lesson the story teaches, and a "Sleeping Time" that is a fun activity to go along with the story. My one-year-old loves finding Night Light, the cute little critter that leads you through the devotions. We love the book so much that I've purchased a second one for my step-daughter to keep at her house.

As a retired teacher of junior high students, I think this book should be in the libraries of all junior high schools. It is well written, and the story moves rapidly enough to hold the interest of students of that age.

Schullery and Whittlesey have performed a great service for all lovers of Yellowstone Park and its history. This is excellent scholarship. It is not, however, the "first full account" of this story. Chris Magoc's Yellowstone: The Creation and Selling of an American Landscape, 1870-1903 (University of New Mexico Press and MOntana Historical Society, 1999), is equally fine and indeed goes further and deeper in its analysis of the cultural and historical significance of this chapter of the park's history.

If you are a great picture lover and a big fan of U.S.A., like me, you gotta have this book! It has a lot of information about the country, divided by regions, with a lot of two-page panoramas, beautiful landscapes, cities and architecture. From the moment you open this book, you won't stop reading it. And by turning the pages, you'll find the essence of America!

This book is great for people of all ages. If you have ever wanted a book to show the diversity of America while showing how the states all work as a whole, then this book is for you. There are beautiful pictures, histories, overviews of different cities and maps to locate where things are. I highly recommend this book to anyone with a love of this country!

I always knew this area of the Southwest was beautiful, based on my limited firsthand experience. Reading this guidebook makes me want to go back and explore more of the places I missed. Mr. White's use of the language evokes not only the beauty of the area but offers fascinating bits of information about the geology and origins of the places described. Guidebooks are used to guide, obviously, but this one, thanks to Mr. White, also illuminates and entertains. Mr. Huey's photography is first-rate. Highly recommended.

This is one of a series of books provided by National Geographic featuring the famous and lesser-known, less traveled parks in the United States. The series is divided into regions and provides invaluable information about accommodations, trails, activities, optimal times of travel, etc. Don't plan a trip without perusing these books!

a very clear map of a very large area. printed on both sides, and made of tear-proof, waterproof tyvek. All trails that I was looking for were clearly marked. This 1:100,000 map is large enough to contain all necessary information to navigate the landscape, yet it's very light and packs well.

This map was perfect for my hike in the cascades. Waterproof and tear resistant. Trails were very clearly marked.

I recently bought this book (april 28 2007) and im happy to get this since i never had any idea where and what philippine national parks look like and where are they exactly located...its full of information and photography with some of the unusual flora and fauna found endemic in the country....while the book is chock full of informations and photographs, it still is incomplete as there are some more national parks not shown...a volume 2 would have been made.wish books like these are being published more for awareness of how rich and diverse the country has to offer

This book is the first and only one that focuses on the environmental aspects of the Philippines in a convincing and brilliant way. I hope to meet Mr. Nigel Hicks one day in person.

I am a substitute teacher. I am always looking for extras I can use in the classroom when we have run out of normal things to do. Sometimes I have 10-20 minutes to fill before dismissal and this book is perfect! Its educational,tactile and fuels the imagination!

Really nice drawings, much more detail, interest and discussion than with regular coloring books. Nice write-ups about each park and a map of the US with parks located on it.

Great Photos with good description of each National Park of America - what do you need more ?

I had this gem under the Christmas tree for my husband. It is such a beautiful book that we keep looking at it together, remembering the beautiful National Parks that we have been to and the ones we plan on visiting in the future. All the photograghs are beautifully shot, and the information provided is enjoyable to read. The best National Park book I have ever seen!
