Terrific Book....Even better than I expected !!!

I want to say first off I have been a big fan of Alabama ever since 1979 when I first heard 'My Home's In Alabama' so I had extremely high hopes for this book and I wasn't disappointed at all...as a matter a fact it's even better than I could have imagined.

The book starts out with Randy going for his morning drive around Lookout Mountain to start his day.....His and his daughter's dogs all go on this drive through the country with Randy describing the area and how beauiful it is and how much he loves it....From that first chapter you feel like you are going along for a ride with Randy and he is talking to you telling you his story...The book is written in such an easy fun style to read...It makes it very enjoyable...I read it in less than 2 days (for me that is pretty remarkable---never read a book of almost 300 pages that fast before )...I just couldn't put it down !

You will read so many things you never knew..... Like when you hear them sing about a place in one of their songs...you find it's a REAL place that they went to and wrote it into their songs....There is a line in one of their songs called 'Vacation'...Where he talks about going swimming in the Blue Hole...Come to find out in this book....there really is such a place...but you probably wouldn't know that if you didn't live up there....Another cool one is the song 'Ole Baugh Road' on the Southern Star album.....He really did grow up on Baugh Rd !

Liking Alabama as long as I have I feel like I was right there with them all these years and knew the guys (Randy, Teddy, Jeff and Mark) pretty well....but there are so many things that you don't know since they are all private people and don't want to be all over the news (that's a good thing !)....Anyway...some of the things you will remember right along with Randy and some will be brand new ! (For example---In the video 'Tar Top'....That is his son Heath riding the bicycle)...Growing up reading everything I could back then about Alabama...I didn't know that.

He also mentions Dale Earnhardt in here a couple of times (Dale is a big hero of mine) and I didn't know they had known each other since 1981...I knew they were good friends..but had no idea it was for such a long time.

Randy talks alot about his wife (Kelly) and his 3 kids (Alison, Heath and Randa)....His parents also play a huge role in the book.....St Jude's Childrens Hospital is also metioned obviously since it's such an important part of his life....I just can't see how the book could be any better...He intertwined his personal life with his life with the group Alabama so perfectly.....you really get to learn about the whole person...not just the singer.

Honestly I would recommend this book for anyone to read it's just a terrific book, period....but for fans of Alabama this is a must read !....All my friends are wanting copies after seeing mine and hearing me talk about it....Oh yeah I almost forgot...there are some wonderful pictures in it I had never seen before too !

A treasury of classic literature

Boy in Darkness and Other Stories assembles works of fiction by author Mervyn Peake (1911-1968), who is perhaps best known for his trilogy of Titus novels set in the decaying castle of Gormenghast. The novella "Boy in Darkness" was originally conceived during that trilogy, and features an unnamed fourteen-year-old boy, most likely Titus Groan himself, in a dream-like adventure that stretches beyond his rigidly ritualistic home. As he wanders a bleak landscape, he is captured by the malevolent Goat and Hyena, the henchmen of an implacable evil seeking to steal his soul. The five other tales in the anthology are resurrected after being out of print for many years; they range from a grim ghost story to tongue-in-cheek character studies. They are "The Weird Journey", "I Bought a Palm-tree", "The Connoisseurs ", "Danse Macabre", and "Same Time, Same Place". Further enhancing this collection are a selection of original drawings and paintings by the author, most in black-and-white but a very few in color. A treasury of classic literature, highly recommended for personal reading lists as well as public and college library collections.

Nice book but not a perfect one

To Breaking 90, someone may expect some swing drills especially from Johnny Miller but sorry, it doesn't.

The books itself is target to the one those already know how to hit the ball well. It will give you the suggestion, information and knowledge on how to play "Good golf" but not how to do "Good Swing"

The first section, "Johnny Miller's Better Golf" is the most valuable section for me. Its give you a "better" idea on how to play and how to practice. Other sections later in the book, are just "experience sharing" section which is nice to read but may be not good enough to remember.

Overall, if you are a good golfer and would like to get someting from the expert to make you even better. This book is the good one. But if you still fighting with your swing flaw, try another one.

I use this text to help children with special needs develop math concepts. It is easy to use, very visual and helps keep the material fresh by rotating concepts. A bit on the old side, but math really doesn't change that quickly (and often the changes are less than helpful).

This is a great book on the history of BSA motorcycle production. Wright tells the story of how the Company lived and changed through decades of manufacturing. BSA was a very strong brand at one time and even advertised themselves as, "The Most Popular Motorcycle in the World." Wright explains the marketing decisions BSA made through the years and why they moved in the directions they did. Wright is obviously well informed and interested in the subject, which makes his style very classy. The Birmingham Small Arms Company did not always make the best decisions, but even when describing the company's downfalls, Wright treats the subject with respect. His reader is kept interested with "insider" details about the Company and there are enough pictures of BSA bikes to keep any owner satisfied. The book contains detailed information about individual models, so you can learn about bikes you may have only heard of or seen once. All the bikes are in there, from thumper to tripple with clearly reproduced photos. This book is a must-have for your BSA library.

A great educational toy for boys who love bugs

My son received this book and Build It Dinosaurs: Book and 3-D Models (see my review) for his sixth birthday. He had both books open within minutes and we spent the rest of the day building 3-D models. He's been quizzing me on facts about the black widow spider, the praying mantis and lots and lots of other bugs!

This is a great learning toy but you've got to be ready to sit down and play with your child. Some of the models are a little tricky to build (there are instructions, relax) but this is a toy best shared with an adult.

I had attended a "virtual Usborne book party" online give by a cousin last year. My son is 11 and abosulely loved the internet linked books I purchased last year, not only for the books but for the wonderful safe websites we could visit. We could watch videos of the animals and learn together. I was SO happy that I could order additional books at a fractions of the cost from Amazon merchants. I would highly recommend these books, they arrived promptly in great condition!

In every generation there are the outsiders, the postmodernists, the ones that aren't afraid to express themselves regardless of how others may react. Butterfly on a bullet casing does just that, it brings you into the mind and experiences of the author and his unapalogetic confessions and observations. An emotional rollercoaster, going from dark and angry to light and positive (sometimes within the same piece). Filled with brilliant and original lines and quotes that make you want to read them over again for the sake of feeling a connection with what Brink is trying to convey. A promising piece for an up and coming writer.
