This is a fantastic book, Mrabet is a master story teller. His lines are raw and simple, chisled directly into the paper. At times the style reminded me of Hemmingway. His works have been confused with Paul Bowles own before (a credit to Mrabet's own genious), mainly because of the content with its tales of swift, brutal violence,exotic enviroments, and bizarre imagination. Mrabet,though, is far more influenced by traditional Moroccan folk lore. This book is Mrabet's autobiograghy as told to Bowles. Every fan of Paul or Jane Bowles will want to check it out because it involves his job as servant to the couple. We get to see their relationship through his own eyes. Most of the epiosodes in his life involve robbing ,manipulating, and conning rich american tourists. Theirs also a great deal of Moroccan superstitions, magic, poisons, witchcraft, and plenty of other real life adventures into the under-belly of Moroccan culture. A valuble and fancinating take on a world and way of thinking us westerner's will never get the chance to experience.

Based on a childhood experience observing a chain gang working on the roads near his home. I liked this book!

The day after I read Paul Leet Aird's Loon Laughter, Ecological Fables and Nature Tales, I left my suburban home in Pennsylvania, drove north to the Pocono Mountains, parked my car, laced up my hiking shoes and walked. I got lost. I loved it. The experience could only have been improved if I had been in Aird's Canada woods. Thoreau MacDonald's loving illustrations complimented a charming book. (By the way...as far as we know, we have no relation to each other!)

I purchased this book after reading a review in a local paper. The authors live near my town and that also influenced my decision as well as my love of pirates and stories. I wasn't disappointed as I found it to be of great historical interest as well as a wonderful book of art and lore. I highly recommend it to the lover of pirate lore as well as those interested in treasure maps and such.

Mary Land's Louisiana Cookery is a fascinating and highly readable popourri of the cookery and culture of all areas of Louisiana, with emphasis on preparation of fish and game .This book, first published by the L.S.U. Press in 1954 must be the foundation of many of the later books on Louisiana cuisine as it encompasses the history of Louisiana food and drink.No part of a meal is neglected ---this book has it all. Highly recommended by one who loves to both eat and read about good food

Taking the course from Tom Owen-Towle entitled "Love Meets the Dragons" made my last year of seminary the equivalent of a ministerial finishing school. Tom is experienced, energetic, and ebullient. He is not a dragon-slayer, but rather a dragon-trainer, a bright-spirited knight.

Very well written book from a great graphologis

This is a strange book - it is a very long narrative poem, some of which is based on "Lavina" by George Sand. It is a familiar love story - falling in love and losing love has been told in tales forever. But not in poetry such as this. It's an interesting read, just to see how the writer manages to make a poem of this length flow together into a story.
I recommend it highly.

I enjoyed this great collection of golf stories. One would have to buy dozens of books to have access to these wonderfully written pieces otherwise. Conveniently organized into different categories for easy reference. This book takes you back into some of golf's greatest historical writing as well as a taste of some of the best contemporary work. I'd strongly recommend adding this gem to your library.

I've had this book for a while, and used just about every trick on my friends. From melting screens to fake error messages to mice that won't stand still, this little gem has them all. Very easy to use...fun to read. A little bit of history since this works only on the older, pre OSX macs.
