A theistic theory of rights or even an argument for theism from the idea of rights is what this book presents... It does an excellent job on both accounts - I thought.

Wolterstorff distinguishes between two understandings of justice one linked to right order the other to inherent subjective rights. He finds that the major issue between the two has been missed, where it was thought to be about the existence of rights per se it is really about different conceptions of rights - are they intrinsic to subjects or are they bestowed on subjects from some norm or god. The first few chapters present arguments from the old and new testaments to show that rights are not a recent enlightenment invention but go back along way and have a theological origin that is based on the worth of the person - what it is that accounts for the worth of a person is taken up latter in the book.

after the history of rights in the bible and surrounding literature he turns to continue developing his theory of rights by showing what sort of things we may have rights to -- the happenings that contribute to a good life... Sometime is spent defining what a happening is and what a good life is - all of which is very interesting and illuminating and challenging but it's presented in a very readable style ....

And then the reasons why secularism can't work as a foundation for rights was convincing - although, admittedly I was already convinced, but now I have some good reasons to back up my convictions anyway.. Plus all the 'rights' talk surrounding different issues seems to make more sense - or nonsense - now..

This book, along with its counter part, KEY CONCEPTS IN GEOGRAPHY, would be my first choice for undergrad geography majors, whether emphasizing cultural, physical or both. As I said in another review, the Brits seem to have it together when creating digestable material for their students of geography. Highly recommended as supplements to the standard physical and cultural geography textbooks used in the U.S.

I do believe there is not an English monarch or a mover and shaker around them that Barber has not written a book about. I might be wrong, but not by much! His works are wonderfully researched and developed, making them a pleasure to read. While he has written biographies on many different people, he has a vast list of books on Arthur and Grail Lore.

I really like this one, because he looks past the valiant legend and searches out Arthur the man. Arthur - as far back as Longshanks - has been molded and used to their purposes - so it's hard to peel back all the layers and get back to original Arthur.

Barber takes on that chore of removing the many embellishments, in a work that is enjoyable for the average reader as well as the Grail Addicts. Loaded with medieval paintings and woodcuttings this book is a wealth of information.

A must for any Grail Lore Library.

I read Junior Pet Care Kittens. I thought it was a good book because it gave you a lot of information. This book talks about cats and how to take care of them. This book is in a series. There's a guinea pig book, hamster book, parakeet book, puppy book, rabbit book, snake book and, turtle book. I think kids through 6 and up would enjoy this book because it's interesting.

My kids(3 and 5 y.o.)love these know-it-all books - entertaining activity that they can do on their own.

Book is divided to three parts: first - Historical and political context, second economic context and third strategic implications. Analysis of international enviroment Korean Peninsula is deep and serious. I agre with genaral conclusions book: America must prepared to solve very serious challenges from North Korea and must cooperate with China, Japan , Pacific-Russia
and specially Republic Of Korea. I recomend this book readers want understand korean issue.

I received it on time. Perfect !! The story is simple and good to introduce basic French. Even though, there are translations in English, I hide it so my students are not tempted to read english instead of french.

This is a beautifully illustrated book by the star of sugarcraft. the techniques and skills used are breathtaking in their perfection. Nicholas Lodge is a true artist for this medium. The book is for advanced sugarcraft workers but is inspirational to the beginner. the designs are mainly classic but delivered with such class, attention to detail and an eye for good colour. not for the faint hearted but set a high standard for the rest of us to emulate.
