This team of authors has effectively catogorized experience as a tool for training managers. They have a very clear understanding that most of what managers learn is done through hard fought pain and effort - rarely the classroom.

Perhaps most useful is the chapter on learning from good, bad or indifferent bosses. The best part about the book is that these authors both understand the academic, social science research behind effective management, and they have blended it with hard ball qualitative interviews with real people in real job situations. Regretably, they don't give enough emphasis on how to manage one's own job experience.

All in all, an excellent tool. I have reread it five times and consult it regularly.

This book makes learning English very easy - beautiful pictures and easy text. I highly recommend this book to any ESOL educator or student.

Chapters cover the basics of handling damaged collections and systems, and provide excellent depth and detail on the recovery options and solutions to common problems.

Palmer, a disciple of Thornwell, writes a thorough if sycophantic biography of his spiritual hero. This remains an important book for any historian of the Antebellum South and the Church for its use of Thornwell's letters. In its pages we also find a sympathetic history and character sketch of one of the most significant American Calvinists of the 19th Century (who is stilled revered by many today.)
The question of how a technically able theologian and passionate churchman could embrace the institution of slavery is a salutary warning for us today.

This book is an incredible biography that,as the publisher name says,is appropriate as the need of the times. Harris' life is at once exciting and inspiring. He truly preached in season and out and saw scores converted under his ministry. Furthrmore he faced incredible persecution in the form of angry drunken mobs who were egged on by Anglican leadership. Also described in the book are his labours with other mighty men of God, George Whitefield,Daniel Rowland,and John Wesley. Like Whitefield and Rowland he was a Calvinistic Methodist who hammered on the need of regeneration by the Holy Spirit,justification by faith, and the imputed righteousness of Christ. He preached powerful doctrinal sermons with warnings on the wrath of God and the hellishness of hell. Banned from ordination by the Church of England because of his "enthusiasm" Harris described his preaching as exhorting. Not content to see men perish Howell Harris met sinners on their ground! Only the hand of Almighty God delivered him from their hands on nmuerous occasions. Martyn Lloyd-Jones said "the best preparation for prayer is reading history." get this book and be ready to pray for a might effusion of the Spirit on our sin weary land!

G. Campbell Morgan is a master expositor. This incisive book is a marvel of expositional insight. It's clear application of the central message of a verse in context of its chapter division is so refreshing and compelling.

Life's Lessons gives a needed motivational kick to get you growing again -especially if you're in a rut. It's a shorthand formula for remembering why we put ourselves through tough times and why we postpone or deny certain pleasures. Basically it's all about wanting to change and then changing-professionally, personally, or whatever you need. It's a small manual, but it tells some big ideas - like how to create your own paradise (how to really experience the richness available to you right now), how to give up the good for the better, and what serious commitment can do for you. There are questions to ask yourself -such as 6 questions for taking calculated risks: What's the worst that can happen? What's the chance that will happen? If it did, can I live with it? What am I afraid won't happen? What's the benefit of not taking the risk? What's the benefit of taking the risk?

There are reminders about listening to people around you and the power of your words. It's a quick read with lingering benefits. I plan to re-read it yearly in a personal retreat and evaluation time.

Lifted Up

Lifted Up, by Guy Morgan Galli, is a touching story that takes place in ancient Jerusalem. I really enjoyed this book because this touching story also had a lot of description. `His eyes were strong and majestic, and in that beautiful, striking gaze I felt the presence of a king.' Right from the beginning, this book will draw you in and you will not want to stop reading until you finish it.
The main character, Simon, is enslaved for attempting to stop Roman soldiers from executing King Herod's evil order. After Simon is released, he leads attacks against the Roman Empire. After he saw the savior crucified, he finally decides to stop his attacks.

A Light for the Journey is a very uplifting and inspirational book. I can pick it up at any moment and not want to put it down. The writings and pictures in it are so beautiful. I am very happy that I bought it.
