Fast-paced story with lots of medical action that will leave a smile on your face! My only complaint is that there isn't a sequel - I'd love to spend some more time with Keely and Zach!

Description from the book back cover:

A family in need ... Casualty officer Keely Thompson is determined to prove to her boss Zach Jordan that she is no longer the scatty teenager who once embarrassingly declared her love to him. Dynamic A&E consultant Zach has also changed since then - he's now a single father! When he needs temporary help with his little daughter Keely steps in, though living with him throws her emotions into further turmoil. Zach and his daughter Phoebe clearly need help, but even if Zach can see Keely as a desirable woman, he apparently doesn't see her in the role of wife and mother ...

An exciting adventure written for children of all ages.

Healing Today (Journal of the National Federation of Spiritual Healers) July, 1999 Reviewed by Shirley Brooker

Emily and the Angels is an exciting adventure which possibly was written for children but holds many thought provoking ideas for adults. Like the Wizard of Oz, the Narnia stories and many other so-called children's books, there are different messages to meet the needs of the reader. It is a story of personal unfoldment and the search for wisdom.

Sarah is a young girl who longs to do more to save the world than just recycling bottles and papers. She is led into a maze by little Emily and meets with a group of others. They find their way out into a world where many of the people have caught a virus and become detached from their shadows. These people are enslaved by the evil and scheming Krinlins. The girls take on a mission to seek help and their journey is frought with danger and temptations that distract them from their task. There are exciting events, which lead them deeper into personal understanding and awareness of other levels of being.

An adaptation of the book is produced in the form of two audio cassettes, a total duration of three hours. It is read by Jeni Barnett in a way more suitable for children than adults.

As a lover of children's stories, I found Emily and the Angels refreshing to read. It contained gentle reminders of how best to deal with issues that arise in life. I enjoyed the book and recommend it for adults and children alike.

A Story Not Known Well Enough in the West
Helpful Votes: 6 out of 6 total.
Review Date: 2005-07-06
It was said that at the height of the Mongol empire a virgin with a hundred pounds of gold could travel from one end of the empire to the other with no fear of losing anything. That was, however, after the conquering phase.

While a country was being conquered it was pretty rough. The standard rule was to approach a city, if the city surrendered all was fine. Any resistance at all and everyone in the city was killed. This tended to make the next city surrender.

By any measure, Genghis Kahn was one of the great military leaders of all time. The empire he conquered stretched from the shores of the pacific to the very gates of Europe. His exploits are less well known than others because of his Eastern origin, yet his empire was twice (or more) the size of that conquered by Alexander.

This is a small book, intended for younger readers, but gives an accurate telling of this rather unknown story.

A Cogent Preparatory for Finals

This book was written clearly and concisely. It was excellent preparation for my finals--the content and wording of each question was spot on. Thorough and accurate, I found this study guide to be head-and-shoulders above other similar texts. Unlike other guides that seem to waste time with a lot of extraneous hoopla, this text was apt and straightforward. It was well worth the time and money.

Amazing Novel.

Review Date: 2005-05-05
The daughter of a powerful celtic chieftain, Rhianna longed to be as free as the wild hawk soaring above the mists of ancient Britain, Instead her tribe trembled in bondage before the hated Roman invaders. And Rhianna was further bound, haunted by her mystical gift of prophecy, enchained by her betrothal to a Celtic Barbarian.
Then, as had been foretold in a terrifying vision, Rhianna was attacked by a raging white boar. As in a dream, a man came forth like a magnificent god and swept her into his strong sheltering arms. He was the Roman Tribune, Marcus, and in Rhianna's exquisite beauty he found a prize he would risk his honor and his life to claim.
Yet even as Marcus's kisses ignited an unquenchable fire, Rhianna's gift warned of betrayal. Ahead lay a perilous odyssey into the heart of Nero's divided Rome, and a road that led from the heat of passion to the flames of battle where all would be lost or won for dazzling indomitable love.

This was an excellent novel. I enjoyed it so much I had to buy it. Marcus isn't the modern man. He puts up with everything Rhianna throws at him. To think that she hurts him so much and yet he can never harm her nor stop loving her. Rhianna wasn't the best of women but she is a great heroine. She put others above herself and even above her love for Marcus. Most people would hate this book but you got to see it on a different level.

All three authors outdid themselves. Madeline Baker's "Heart of the Hunter" has captured the essence of time and love once again. You won't be able to put this book down until you finish it!

Ann Avery's "Dream Seeker" was astounding! I have never read her work before and would like to read more of it now. She did a wonderful job of combining the depths of space and love. What a romantic!

Kathleen Morgan's "The Last Gatekeeper" was romance at its best, to say the least! This one was extrodinary in the romantic way a world was saved. You won't want to put this book down!

This is the book for nostalgia seekers and lovers of branch line trains. From the early 50's it details in loving prose the branch lines of the now EEC. In my opinion the best book ever written on the subject. Beautiful photos bring back memories of those lines now mostly long gone.

Superb Intro to Social Justice for Engineers
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2008-06-27
Riley provides an impressively readable introduction to social justice theories and practices for engineers. By using jokes about engineers ("What stereotypes do these contain?") and real world cases about whistle blowing and other engineering ethics challenges, Riley makes the likes of Marx, Paulo Freire, and Augusto Boal accessible to someone otherwise not versed in this world of philosophy. Her later chapters suggest practical steps for beginning to incorporate these thought patterns into daily engineering life and the engineering educational process. As an engineer herself, Riley adopts a writing style that conveys the ideas without finger-wagging; you don't feel criticized while reading it. Yet the contents will likely make readers think and create a self-driven interest in pursuing ethical engineering practices.
