I found this book by accident, although I had read other Mason novels. It was a delight, painting a compelling portrait of both the man and the times in which he lived. The detail was well-researched and thorough. In my opinion this is a much superior portrayal than Michener's in "Caribbean," in which Morgan is just passed off as the bad pirate that sacked Panama. I have learned that John Steinbeck's first novel, "Cup of Gold," was also about Morgan and hope to read that as well.

Shawnee rememembered Ken Forest as a fling long ago, a chapter that issued ---a son. But she neglected to share that info with
Ken who dumped her, years ago. Now Ken is back, with love in
his eyes and a determination to share it. How can she refuse him, how can she not and then need to face the sticky situation of explaining her kid was "their" son. Fun.

A stupendous translation achievement with useful explanations of the complexities of cynghanedd. There is no parallel
Welsh text but it follows the Thomas Parry edition of the Gwaith Dafydd ap Gwilym (which you can get from the UK Amazon.com site). An alternative would be the Rachel Bromwich edition with parallel texts published by Gwasg Gomer. I don't know of any translations into modern Welsh. This is very difficult Welsh and the honest truth is that much is lost in translation because so much of the artistry is in the intricate patterns of prosody, and of alliteration rather than rhyme.
I genuinely like this stuff. It often light-heartedly expresses the poet's sexual frustration as much as romantic love. It's not what you'd expect from fourteenth century Wales and the fact that it comes from that place and time probably has much to do with why I liked it.
Kingsley Amis, amongst others, suggested that there is something of the pseud about trying to read, and pretending to appreciate, medieval Welsh poetry. I suppose critics of the effort have a point. You can go to Athens, Georgia and see a magnificient replica of the Acropolis that is much better in many ways than the crumbling thing in Greece, but an irrational part of the mind tends to get more of a kick out of the twenty-five hundred year old thing. When I'm reading this, and trying to read old Welsh aloud, that irrational part of my mind is at work.

ALL TRUE WARRIORS!

Mike Morgan does it again in his book "Daggers Drawn" which is a treasure trove of vignettes on Britain's most colorful and heroic individuals to ever serve in the most elite units in Britain and arguably the world. The book covers the exploits of these individuals while serving in Special Boat Service/Squadron (SBS) and Special Air Service (SAS) during the early years, which revolves around World War II era. Many of the gentlemen (Paddy, Sterling and other great unsung heroes) are "plank owners" and were integral to the evolution and expansion of these units in post World War II. This book brings light to other historical works giving them much more character and understanding of the individuals and not just a cursory blurb. I highly recommend this book for the true military professional and historical military reader. I would also like to recommend you read Mike Morgan's book "Geordie - Fighting Legend of the Modern SAS" about another great warrior.

Excellent book.........

This author as far as i know has only written two books, this one and Wild Flower Wind - wish I could find more books from her.. she manages to create vulnerable heroines that have a backbone of steel - something that is very hard to find in romance books I have read recently.

This book is another favourite of mine - Barrett's character is strong, throughout the book you can see his love for Caroline. The heroine is a good strong one and her love for her sister is touching. The Hero's character is what carries the book through to my list of favourites, as the background storyline of abuse pretty much NEEDS his love to show for this to succeed as a romance - without his obvious love for the heroine this book would have been another in a long line of flunks, as had his character been ruthless and cruel - with us playing guessing games as to what he would cruelly say to her next - I would just think the cycle of abuse continues.. I don't like abuse story lines that have H's who are in themselves abusive.

From the Back:

She would have done anything to get this job

Caroline hadn't meant to deceive Barrett Rossiter into thinking she was married and had a child, but if that was the price she had to pay for the job she so desperately needed, she'd pretend to be anything.

She had to support Stacy, and protect her at all costs.

And she had to continue lying to Barrett, if only to prevent him from finding out the shameful truth about her private life....

Why waste your time reading 600+ pages to learn how to create a database? You can read this book and it is less than 300 pages! It covers everything. I recommend this book to anyone that wants to know what makes a great relational database work regardless of the DBMS. This is for beginners wanting to learn for the first time to those with DB experience that want a refresher on the fundamentals!

This text is a must for all people in not only coping with death but also preparing yourself for the inevitable. The author is brilliant and takes a step by step approach that allows for better understanding of the grief process as well as a valid and thought provoking insight into preparing yourself and your estate for life's final certainty. Bravo, DR Straub, Bravo!
