Everyonce in a while a truley remarkable book comes along. "Who is PEE DEE?" is one such book. Although written for children, on their level, this book is an excellent resource for explaining Parkinson Disease to anyone of any age. The pictures really capture the story and together explain Parkinson's in everyday language. I have used this book to explain my disease to my neices and nephews as well as a learning tool in the support group that I run. I recommend it to everyone who is living with Parkinson's or who knows someone who is.

Book has Me Playing Better than Ever at Age 50

Review Date: 2001-12-10
With age has come the need for increased flexibility, strength and better balance on the golf course. This book has been a big help for me. The "Short Set" is an excellent warm up routine. It's easy and really improves range of motion from swing one. Have also never been as "smart" as I need to be on the course. Cissne's book has me thinking my way through the round much better than I ever have before, and I'm actually managing my emotions and channeling my energy with really positive results. It takes a little effort to complete the workbook but doing the work is what brings the reward. Have found myself thinking about how the book's teachings apply to my life off the course as well. The Om CD is a very peaceful stress reducer.

Proving the obvious is never simple

Since you know the what from the very beginning you're left with finding out the who and confirming the why. Morgan throws in just enough plot twists and turns to keep you turning the pages. Well crafted characters and a subject that needed to be addressed. This short novel can be read in one sitting but won't easily be forgotten.

A splendid and compelling first novel, but no mystery

This novel captured my interest from the start and kept it throughout its short 244 pages. Mary Morgan explores the complex interplay of the legal and medical professions both sensitively and even-handedly. There is no mystery, because what might have been so, the death of a black child in hospital, is revealed right at the beginning, but the actions and emotions and the players, parents, nurses, doctors, lawyers, and the rest, keeps the interest level high until the last dramatic scene (not to be divulged in a review)

An excellent book for Honda racing fans

If you enjoy hearing how an engine was developed for CART by some of the team members which developed the Honda engines that took Senna and Prost to F1 championships, then you will enjoy this book. It details info from the engineers at Honda and in the US and how they underestimated the complexity of CART and had to re-group and re-design the engine after failing to qualify for Indy. It is a book about the "inside" story. Not quite enough pictures about the engine or its internals (top secret I suppose), and a few too many of CART cars, but the text is where it's at with this book. An enjoyable read if you are a Honda racing fan.

A must for the Honda Racing Fan

This publication is of a very high standard in both content and production. Make sure you have a sturdy coffee table as it is a weighty volume.
Not only does it cover the Honda years in CART, but also gives an excellent overview of Honda's determination to succeed in all forms of motorsport both past and present.
Absolute value for money and a must for anyone who appreciates Honda's dedication to quality and winning.

What an inspiring book. Sometimes what should be common sense is easier to digest when it's presented in a format like this book. Most football analogies are lame and overused. Winning in the Fifth Quarter gives a fresh perspective on understanding and reaching your full potential. Great stories! You can almost hear the crowd. Whether you've played the game or not, whether you are a football fan or not, you should get a lift from this book. Wish I had read this when I was 25!!

I didn't know there was a 5th Quarter!

Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2EZTW4F02XRBU Do you know the secret of football? You have watched the game, maybe even played it. But, do you know that football has a 5th quarter? Beck entertainingly explains why so many corporations look to hire ex-football players, why this game is so important to our culture, and how anyone can take the lessons football teaches and use them to achieve their life-long dreams.

Players at all levels, parents, and fans all will all benefit from finding out why football is so unique and how is offers timeless lessons that set a foundation for life-long success. As Beck says, "Football is emulates life in many ways. The lessons it offers can help everyone to be build a strong personal foundation."

If you're a player, you need to read this book to remember why you're playing this game. If you're a parent of a player, you might find a great way to relate to your kids about life through the game. But most important, this book is for you, to help you succeed and get the most out of your life! It is not often a book can truly impact a person's life. Success in the 5th Quarter will have a positive impact and make difference to everyone who reads it!

Great read, inspirational and movitational, couldn't put it down!

The point at which I am at in my life is a very hard and trying time. I'm a biology major in college and I'm working very hard to get into a medical program. Everyday is a constant battle to study hard, stay healthy, and attempt to maintain some type of social life. I struggle many a morning to rise and go do the monotonous chores of everyday life along with my schooling and such. I was feeling caught in a rut for a while, I felt like I was losing my motivation in certain areas and I began procrastinating on important things, (i.e. exercising, studying, calling family members). And as I'm sure most of whoever is reading this review knows, these are really good things that should never be put off. Now, to the point. After feeling slightly demoralized from the stresses of life I picked up Bob's book. I swear to you, immediately, just after the first chapter, I was hooked! I felt a new fire inside me and inspiration was firmly in my grasp. I discovered new reasons to get motivated and to get back on track. It almost seemed too easy. You must read this book, even if your life is perfect and you never falter, there is definitely something to gain from this read.

TOUCHDOWN! What a great book.

What's up everyone?

Okay, first off, I will be honest, and let you know that I am Bob Beck's publicist. However, I will be even more honest and tell you that I would not have taken Bob on as a client if I didn't honestly think his book was a winner. As a 5-time published author myself, and someone who LOVES inspirational business books, I assure you that this book is truly a gem. It takes a lot to impress me, and Bob Beck has most certainly impressed me. It's rare to find someone who is so successful as a businessman who also wants to help others succeed like he has. Well, that's Bob Beck---a prolific businessman; a former college football player; a wonderful writer. His book, "Winning in the 5th Quarter" is an uplifting, motivational, and easy to read book chock full of gridiron lessons for life. Now, I am not a huge follower of football; rather, I am one of those, 'So who's playing in the Superbowl?' type of fans. And yet, I could understand this book. In fact, I actually know a heck of a lot more about football as a result of reading it. But more importantly, and why I love this book so much, is that I myself now am inspired to 'win in the 5th quarter', because this book is NOT about football; it is about how to apply the lessons of football to the game of life. And play on I shall! You see, I am a pretty successful guy already, but now, after reading Bob's book, I am inspired to become even more successful. I am ready to take on the 5th quarter---the quarter known as life--with a vengeance. And you will too. "Winning in the 5th Quarter" is the perfect book for everyone interested in business, football, and success in general. That's you, right? And who better to learn from than Mr. Beck. Bob Beck is an expert at overcoming obstacles and helping others to do the same through discipline, planning, and a gridiron mentality. SO ROMP ON! And meet you at the top.

A New View on Football

Wow! Someone finally gets the real meaning of football! I'm not a huge fan of the game, but I've always had respect for the players who would go out and work their tales off to win--or at least to play a good game. When I read Beck's take on the game, I knew why I respected these players! Even when they're little, they have the chance to learn success principles that really will help them in the rest of their lives! I'm all for anything that teaches people to put themselves on the line, to "test their mettle," as Beck says, to learn how to play in the face of overwhelming odds, to dream big and to make those dreams happen. Thank you Bob Beck for putting it all down on paper. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants another take on how to improve their life!

Beautiful, Concise Biography Of a Beloved Childhood Author

For anyone who wants to learn more about the woman who gave us such memorable equine heroes such as Misty, Sham, Black Gold and Little Bub, this is the book for you! The photographs alone, particularly of her husband Sydney and collaborator Wesley Dennis, are worth the purchase price. I was raised on Henry's stories and to this day, I still read her works; to anyone with a child, I would recommend her writing. It has a genuine, literary appeal to both parents and kids. If you are a Henry fan, or would like to know more of her and her work, this is the book to buy!

Marguerite Henry loved horses, and she wrote a number of the most memorable horse stories every written. This book tells about her life, from birth in Milwaukee to her death in 1997 in California. What I liked was learning how she wrote MISTY, KING OF THE WIND and all the other books about horses. There are lots of good tips for writers in this book too. If you want to know about a great author, fun horses and how to write better, read this book.

Morgan has once again used her background as a historical researcher combined with an easy flowing style to give the most succint encapsulation of at least 100 books, covering several genres. Better than reading a review in the New York Times. It almost allows you to talk as if you have read the whole story without having to do so. It provides insights about many of the authors, that provides a colorful background tapestry, that makes you want to rush right out and read all of the books she has reviewed.
