We love this screwball feather-brain!

My 2.5 year old just loves Minerva Louise. What a funny hen...even the name is very catchy! My daughter delights in telling Minerva Louise how mistaken she is in her "know-it-all" assessments of the world! And Minerva Louise is often listed as one my daughter's "friends" whenever we're going down the list of her good friends! We read this book thru the library, but now I am ordering all 3 books on her. What a funny, silly, and love-able hen!

She may be a chicken, but she's no bird brain!

The world looks different when you're a chicken. Your kids might know what a school looks like, even if they haven't spent much time in one, but to Minerva Louise, an inquisitive hen, that big empty building she encounters during her early morning walk is a wonderful, fancy barn. She filters everything she sees through her own experience, so that the custodian raising the flag becomes the farmer hanging his laundry out to dry, and the wastebasket at the side of the teacher's desk becomes a feed bucket. The kids' cubby holes are nesting boxes -- there's even one with an egg in it. To Minerva it's an egg, but your kids will recognize it as a baseball nestled in a ball glove. This is another great book if you need something light-hearted to calm first-day jitters. The illustrations are crisp and bright, and it's hard not to like Minerva Louise, even if she is a silly goose, er, chicken.

If you are unsure of how to do "hands-on" inquiry based science lessons, this book is for you! The lessons are detailed and based on sound pedagogy. The resources needed to teach the lessons are basic to any classroom and thus are not costly to prepare. This is the second book published after the highly successful "Picture Perfect Science" and was much anticipated by all.More Picture Perfect Science Lessons

A model of accurate scientific content and sound teaching strategies

A publication of the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA), "More Picture-Perfect Science Lessons: Using Children's Books To Guide Inquiry, K-4" is the collaborative work of Karen Ansberry (a classroom teacher and science curriculum coordinator for grades 5 and 6, Mason City Schools, Ohio) and Emily Morgan (science consultant for the Hamilton County Educational Service Center, Cincinnati, Ohio). A compilation of fifteen lessons in science incorporate the use of picturebooks to enthuse young students from kindergarten through the fourth grade with an interest in science and reading, "More Picture-Perfect Science Lessons" also features reproducible student pages, assessments, and reading-comprehension strategies. Drawing upon both fiction and non-fiction books, each lesson is in full accordance with national science education and curriculum standards. A model of accurate scientific content and sound teaching strategies, "More Picture-Perfect Science Lessons" is a unique and confidently recommended addition to any private or public school K-12 science curriculum, and so `user friendly' that it would be readily applicable by parents engaged in home schooling children ages 5 through 9.

As one who teaches Internet classes, I can tell you that this book is just full of great facts about Internet history, Internet infrastructure, Internet technologies, and where various Internet-related businesses will succeed (and fail). If you only buy one technology book in the next six months, it HAS to be this book! It is essential to read this book because your competitors and your customers will read it

As historically accurate as any story I've yet to read! A provocotive and compeling Drama, I couldn't put the book down.
one of the very few stories I've read that is totally unpredictable.
Gregory Alan Hawk will no doubt be one of the great authors of the 21st Century.

It's a great way of presenting ways to tackle the issue of erotica in roleplaying. I wish there was a little more about converting some ideas to D20 but I still think this is the best and most professional of erotic roleplaying guides. And it works well, used it with my girlfriend one on one before presenting it to my friends.

Even better than the Book of Erotic Fantasy

There was a huge uproar when the "Book of Erotic Fantasy" was announced and published. That allowed this book to fly under the radar. This is a shame, because this book is far better than its more famous cousin. This book as a real GURPS flavor to it. It covers sexuality in gaming in not just a fantasy setting, but in historical, modern, horrow, and future campaigns. The book is well crafted in that even if you are not using d20, you can easily adapt it for your setting. It does have ready made spells for d20, but this is a bonus, not something which draws away from the rest of the book. In fact, this bok is almost a lesson about sex that every teenager could gain from.

Trust me; this is a book required for any decent game library.

Rob was very kind to dedicate this volume to me and I in return am very honored to recommend his work. It is typically Rob Morgan, full of insights, fascinating stories, and heavy with verbal products. In my business as an Army Chaplain, I find this sort of product is a key compendium to enriching my vocabularly or enhancing my vision "outside my world." Rob was always good at visualization of images, making words live with color and movement. I recommend everything he writes. Excellent. Just Excellent.

Excellent Resource for Busy Preachers

I have bought preacher's annuals and sourcebooks before, and never found much of use in them. This resource, however, has proven to be much much different. There are several options for each Sunday of the year, excellent pastoral resources, and illustrations that really illustrate. The convenience of the book being available on CD-ROM is a HUGE help to me. I have preached several sermons from this resource and have found it to be very practical. I look forward to the 2003 edition.

This book is a fine reference to computer scientists who wish to understand the protection and restoration background of different networking techniques such as SONET-SDH, IP and MPLS. This book is also a unique exemplar in the field of network recovery which strengthens its position further. It is well written and easy understandable.

I found a very good introduction in each chapter in the book. Each theoretical section is followed by examples that makes the subject more understandable.

I highly recommend this book.

Most of us plug our computers into the internet, then we fire up IE or Firefox, press the "get email" button on Outlook or Thunderbird, and forget there's a bunch of beeping and blooping going on in the background.

This book explains what's going on behind the curtain. It explains it in fairly simple terms. Non-computer scientists can understand it. There are handy analogies. Good graphics illustrating the text.

This book does *not* explain *how* to network computers. It does *not* explain how to write networked applications. The "new" computing infrastructure isn't actually all that new anymore, but it is newer than telephones, which is the networking infrastructure most of us are familiar with (spoke and hub).

Good basic text for non-computer programmers who would still like to communicate with them.

Excellent!

A Real Page Turner
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2006-08-04
Let there be no doubt, Ann Baker's debut novel "No Coincidence" captivates its readers from the very start-a real page turner. Baker has created a riveting murder mystery-romance novel that not only compels the reader to solve the murder of Morgan McGee's husband, Greg, it also explores-in a fair amount of detail-the secret, guarded world of law enforcement in the Tampa, Florida area. Ian Greer, a deputy sheriff, has a nagging infatuation with Morgan--one that could make or break his career after he unexpectedly witnesses Greg's murder. However, as a career deputy, he doesn't let his personal interest in Morgan negate his professional instincts. He launches a murder investigation of his own while also taking charge of the distraught and highly vulnerable Morgan--a role she initially seems to play all too well, until the end.

Baker's characters are well-defined and completely engage the reader. The premise of her novel is appealing and well executed. She's a master at weaving together the complex pieces of a murder mystery-romance. The plots, twists, and turns hold the reader's interest throughout. This reader is a "sequel" aficionado. And Baker has filled the bill, as the conclusion and climactic scene were not a let down. "No Coincidence" screams for a sequel, which the author was kind enough at the end of the book to offer a peek of the next Morgan McGee installment--"Timing Is Everything." I can't help but anticipate that the sequel will be another page turner.

Excellent reading.

"Morgan Mcghee" held my undivided attention. I shall "keep watch" for any future publications of Ann Baker and look for-ward to reading them. Hopefully, a sequel!!!!!

This is a finely illustrated book for beginners through advanced oil painters who are interested mainly in landscape painting. Even the table of contents is illustrated with photos of her paintings and short descriptions for easy access to chapters. Demos are illustrated as well, including how to use and hold brushes, preparing surfaces. The book also examines the basic tenets of painting including value, composition and design, effects of light on color. This is a useful, lovely book to read and use in landscape painting.

Too many colors on your palette? Are you a beginning oil painter? This is the book for you! Morgan Samuel Price lays out the theory and techniques of painting with a basic palette...a few primaries, a couple of earth tones, and that's it. Several lessons are presented for the reader to follow along with. This book will definitely improve your painting.
