What a great read! A friend recommended this book to me, and I put it off because, it's first time author, a publisher I had never heard of, and from a category I avoid. However, the cover was so lovely I decided to give it a try. I'm so happy I did. It has everything, a ghost, psychic abilities, history, mystery, and romance. The characters are so well written that I reminded of different people I know, and by the end of the book I was wishing this were a real place that I could go and visit. Give this book a chance, you won't be sorry.

I liked this book because while it seems like a fantasy, there are parts of it that seem very real. The characters, wild as they are, seem as if they could be real.
Excerpt from book review section of the Monterey County Post: Overton, a retired art teacher and interior designer, exposes a nineteen year old college drop out named Alice to the illicit pleasures available at Casa Danada, the mountain-top retreat of Pirrone Rivelli. A mysterious figure whose lifstyle includes fast cars, numerous women, and ties to the underworld. Rivelli holds a dagerous, nearly fatal attraction for the novel's young heroine.
Alice enters into an exotic world in which there are no rules. Life in this untamed milieu is lived on the edge. Alice nearly tumbles into the "abyss" as the romance of her new bohemialn life turns ugly and threatens to destroy the innocent young woman.

Lesley Farmer has found himself in a most uncomfortable situation. A huge tree has fallen through the roof of his home and despite the fact that the contractor is not his type, his body is making it exceedingly obvious that it has other ideas. As the Director of Library Services he's conservative and scholarly so why would he be getting a case of raging hormones for a woman who makes her living working with her hands.
Contractor Charlene McKinley has never experienced such a peculiar situation before. For some strange reason she's practically panting over a potential client. She likes her men buff and earthy yet from the moment she meets Leslie she's been instantly hot and bothered. Lesley works at the university library, and they couldn't possibly have anything in common.
It's obvious that neither Leslie nor Charlene is going to be able to ignore their raging hormones and they quickly give in to temptation. It's the perfect solution to get each other out of their systems but afterwards they're left wondering `what next.' Neither of them do one-night stands so the only solution is to go on a couple of dates and get to know each other. It's a little unorthodox especially since they've already done the horizontal mambo but it's worth a try. Things heat up as a series of misunderstandings and assumptions lead to a few hideous dates that have them frustrated. They're so wrong for each other and so turned on at the same time. It makes no sense for them to continue seeing each other and yet, he keeps coming up with more work that needs done on his house just to keep her around. They soon begin discovering the many things that they do have in common - besides fantastic sex. Leslie's ready to settle down and he believes that Charlene is the woman for him, but it's going to take a little work to convince her that they were MADE FOR EACH OTHER. Is he up to the task?
Morgan Ashbury will have readers in stitches over this opposites attract storyline. Sparks fly from the very first page and I got a warped sense of amusement from the misunderstandings and misconceptions which would have been so avoidable if Leslie and Charlene had only gotten to know a little about each other before their first date. I really loved Charlene's temper and how she gets even when she thinks she's been wronged. Leslie's level-headed and has to plan things out which leads to some interesting problems but he's definitely a likeable character. MADE FOR EACH OTHER is a fun filled story that will keep readers interest throughout the storyline as they wonder if these two vastly different characters will ever discover just how right they are for each other.

If opposites attract, then Lesley Farmer and Charlene McKinley are made for each other. The two share nothing in common but a powerful sexual chemistry. What they don't know is whether they can take their relationship any further than the bedroom. Lesley is an academic with more diplomas than even he can count. His fantasies never included overalls and power tools, until he met Charlie, a contractor who's fantasies never included bow ties or tweed coats. Charlie has no problem building houses but can she build a relationship? And can Lesley put logic aside long enough to see what's right in front of him?
Morgan Ashbury throws traditional relationship clichés out on their ears with this clever and passionate tale of mismatched love. A pleasure to read!

Clear photographs showing fixed and movable structures make this an efficient teaching tool. Spoken or written directions during a course are helpful, but it's great if you can preload these pictures into your knowledge base before you take the course so you know what's going on underneath the therapist's hands. Very useful information about this specific topic.

Many people avoid any connection to marketing because of a lack of understanding. For example, book authors avoid marketing their book because they wrongly believe that is the publisher's responsibility. Ali Pervez has written an easy-to-understand guide for anyone who wants to build relationships and increase their sales.
As you read this book, you will regularly reach for your yellow highlighter to be able to return to the pages over and over for inspiration. I certainly marked my copy as I read it. For example, Pervez writes in the section, Marketing Is Power, "I believe that ninety-five percent of success is about getting the right knowledge, and five percent is about applying it to get things done. But I think it's the last five percent that's the most difficult to do! Why? Because we get involved in so many different activities and are not able to make the priority and focus on what needs to be done." (page 20)
This title is loaded with insight and I recommend it.

I've picked up several good ideas from this inexpensive marketing book, it has reminded me of things I already knew I should do but had forgotten thus providing a great deal in revitalizing my skills.
The author also gives plenty of helpful tips on how to make use of all the traditional means of marketing and implement those in daily life. Be sure to keep a highlighter with you when you read the book so you can highlight the items that apply specifically to your business and refer to them quickly. I truly believe this is not just another book on marketing but a philosophy to build strong personalities.

Measuring the User Experience is a good resource for practitioners who aren't well versed in making their user studies hold up statistically. Even if you're focused on qualitative usability tests with small numbers of participants, it's important to be aware of what you're not testing. The book also includes useful advice on judging nonverbal and emotional feedback from participants, and presenting results clearly to stakeholders.

This book is absolutely fantastic. I received my copy of it last night and stayed most of the night reading through it as I simply couldn't put it down. I've been working as an interaction designer / usability tester for a couple of years and this has overnight become my new favourite reference book. It's easy to read without glossing over essential detail (a criticism I have of many modern usability books). The advice on graph selection would make both Edward Tufte and Stephen Few proud. This book is filled with practical advice on how to communicate data, manage integrity and measure the user experience in a business setting.
I agree with the previous two reviewers that this book is a must have bible for everyone involved in usability evaluation.

Finally, a book that brings together all the best practices and methods for collecting, analyzing and presenting metrics for usability evaluations from all the best (and most reliable) sources. The book is concise and succinct, and draws so much of its content from industry research and experience. It's pure gold!
I simply couldn't believe that everything I have learned (through experience) and read (through research) over the last 7 years was put into one place!
In my opinion, this book will easily become required reading (as Jakob Nielsen's - "Usability Engineering") and used by those new to the field, and practitioner's as reference.

Evaluation is near and dear to my heart and this book is straight forward, easy to read and gets right to the point. It is pragmatic and practical -- exactly the kind of book practitioners need. But it is also nice for those of us that think of ourselves as applied researchers too. It not only talks about various measurements -- how to take them, how to present them, when to use them and their positives and negatives etc., but it also gives a briefing and/or references to the related research both pro and con.
I would rate this book as a "must have" for anyone that does evaluation.

This book is one that is still near and dear to my heart, more than 18 years later. It's a simple, sweet tale that my mother read to me (and then I would later read to her) countless times before bed, but it's one that leaves you with a pleasant, satisfied feeling. It's almost magical. Its simplicity is what makes it so very endearing, and I myself would always dream about how delightful it must feel to sit upon a warm, freshly baked pie.

It's never a good idea to begin a review of one book by lambasting a completely different book. But then, I'm not too keen on good ideas. When I look at the beautiful beautiful book that is, "Minerva Louise", I am astonished by its simplicity. It's fabulous how with only a few well chosen lines, author/illustrator Janet Morgan Stoeke is able to create something as perfect as this little book. Compare this with other awful and simplistic books ("Where's Spot?" anyone?) and this becomes even more of a monumental accomplishment than it originally appeared.
The story's just as simple as the pictures. One day the sweet chicken Minerva Louise (who greatly admires the farmhouse) decides that it might be a good idea if she poked her head in and looked around. Once inside she gathers all sorts of odd ideas. A flowerpot of daisies is reduced to flattened flowers when Minerva takes it for a comfortable chair. The sleeping cat? A friendly cow, of course. In her barnyard-mindedness a tricycle is a tractor and a flower coverlet on a bed is a meadow. After further examinations (and unintentional chicken mischief) Minerva decides that she would prefer to live in the yard but that she'll visit the house. In a final panel, Minerva sits contentedly on a pie on the windowsill, "because she loved the house with the red curtains".
And I love Minerva. There just aren't enough worthy chicken protagonists in picture books today. Moreover, there aren't enough picture books that tell a straightforward story with the wit and storytelling skills found in this little marvel. I know I'm gushing over this thing, but it's one of those books you need to see firsthand to understand. Minerva's so amiable that if she was your chicken I'm sure you'd bake pies with the sole purpose of letting her sit on them. This is a very early reader book, and it will make a much loved addition to any child laden home. If I could recommend a single picture book published in the last 20 years with all my heart and soul, it would be the sweet, "Minerva Louise". Miss it, and you're missing out.

This book about a Minerva Louise adventure was a first for my five year old son and me, and he has never laughed harder at a story. The illustrations are simple and humorous, and the story about Minerva Louise's creative misperceptions is hilarious. I've ordered a bunch of these for gifts for friends and family!

When I read the original tale of "Minerva Louise" by Janet Stoeke I was charmed. It's rare that an author packs so much great storytelling punch in such a little package. So when I discovered that Minerva Louise, the extraordinarily curious chicken, had further adventures to her name, I immediately located "Minerva Louise and the Red Truck". Just as great as its predecessor, this tale tells the story of a curious member of the poultry family and her attempts to make sense of the world around her.
Minerva Louise (who is prone to loving things) loves her farm's red truck. A playful foul, she likes to dress up in the abandoned bandanas she finds in the back and create tea parties out of tools and flowerpots. One day, while playing, the truck jerks to life and Minerva finds herself driving about. While out she translates the things she sees into farm-based items. A backyard swimming pool is a lake. Golfers are farmers hard at work in their fields. Best of all, a church (to a chicken's eye) is nothing more than a, "silly barn wearing a hat!". In a nice section of the book Minerva spies a construction site and decides that it must be a farm for other trucks. Hither and yon are baby trucks and big strong ones as well. By the end of the day she's happy with what she has seen, but she's glad that the red truck has returned back to her home. That is, until she sees a bright and shiny fire engine!
Minerva is the Amelia Bedelia of the farm world. It's sweet to see how everything fits into her perceptions and misconceptions. Kids reading her books can recognize where she's wrong and feel superior that they know more than this adventurous chicklet. For my own part, I was happy that the illustrations of the little heroine show her joy and contentment so clearly. She's just so darn perky and pleased with everything she sees that it's a joy to watch her. This particular book combines farm life with construction sites. For those kids who are really into trucks and trailers, this might be an ideal storytime reading selection. It's difficult not to love the plucky (ha ha!) Minerva Louise so definitely take the time to check her out. If you've never seen a chicken beam with contentment, this should be the book for you.

Intrique, interesting characters, suspense--this novel has it all. Once I started it, I couldn't put it down. A classic who-dun-it written in a contempory style and setting. I can't wait for more from this author.

I just finished reading Misrepresented and I was very impressed with the story and the way it was written. This crime novel was well researched and the author allowed the reader to easily imagine that he or she was actually on the scene of the crimes. The plot had more twists than a roller coaster and the ending is totally out of the blue. Highly recommend this book and I look forward to Ms. Hampton's next book if and when she writes it.

Probably a very taste-specific book for those interested in genealogy and the family, but it was just what I needed to add to my library. Since I have ancestors in this book, I wanted it as a source for my work and to pass down to my children. It is filled with well-researched facts and a few portraits and drawings. It has helped fill in the missing pieces to my puzzle.
