I great book, over looking Schulz's body of work, as well as bits about his life and quotes from the man himself. Kidd's design is the perfect showcase for the art. This is a book you never really finish reading, cause you always come back to it again and again.

This is my first Peanuts hardback, and it's already taken a special spot in my heart. I've been a Peanuts fan from my childhood, and this book gives a glimpse not just into the history of the strip, but also into the history of the creator of the strip. As I understand it, in this book are never-before-seen examples of Mr. Schulz's sketchpads. Some that were never published before in their raw, unfinished form.

Throughout this beautifully bound book are pages that chronicle "Sparky's" life and career -- childhood photos of his family, his page in his high school yearbook, his sketchpad from his time in the Army, various pictures of his first strip "Li'l Folks"... the list goes on. There are also pages here and there showing some of the Peanuts collectibles such as slateboards, games, comic books, ViewMaster reels, and figurines etc. And of course, this 336 page book is full of Peanuts strips --in black & white and in color-- taking you through the years in your memories.

Also included is a touching introduction written by his wife, Jean Schulz, and his 'signature' on the inside cover. If you are a Peanuts fan, you won't be disappointed with this book.

The Peanuts are pretty much everywhere you go. It is kind of sad in a way that their creator, Charles Schulz, is not. Makes you kind of appreciate the fact that our creations go on long after we have departed. Like the Chinese Philospher Lao Tzu said, "We will never know the results of our actions..." Contemplate this for awhile and it will really begin to blow your mind. We don't really know who we will affect in life with our thoughts, with our words, and with our deeds. We all have an inward duty to be the best that we can be, because the world is just a bunch of individuals and if each one of us decides to think better and do better with the gifts we've been given, then the world will be an even better place to live.

Charles Schulz and his comic strip, The Peanuts, bettered my world and it continues to do so. He has been gone almost six years now and I still miss him. Isn't that strange? I never met the man. I never heard him speak. The only thing I really know about him and his life is through his comic strip.

I was introduced to the Peanuts when I was four or five years old. My dad used to read me his comic strips and do the voices of Charlie Brown, Linus, Schroder, and Lucy...his impression of Lucy still makes me crack up when I dip into my fondue pot of memories.

I got this book because I wanted to really know more about Charles Schulz. What kind of man was he really? What drove him? What inspired him? Turns out that he, himself, was baffled by the Creation Process just like all "true" artists are. True artists are very humble beings. They know deep inside that they are not responsible for their creations, they are merely the channels through which the power of creation takes place. Being an artist and a writer myself, I know that sometimes I'm in this zone where the process of creation is moving through me so powerfully that all I need do is surrender to It and everything is all taken care of. Not to be preachy, but that's Spirit, that's Love, that's the Light we were all created in and out of. And because all of us are made in the Image and Likeness of Light, of Spirit, of Love, we are all creative and we are all creators. The question then becomes, "What am I willing to create?"

This book makes me cry. Not in a sad way, but in a way that just makes me miss my friend. And although I see evidence of his being here all around me, I know that this world is never going to be the same without him.

Peace & Blessings, Mr. Schulz.

STOP!!!! Don't Read Another "Acting" Book Until You Have Read This One...

The Theatrical Juggernaut is by far the most common sense, cut-to-the-chase, practical book in the entertainment industry. Period. No if's, and's, or but's about it. If you are ready to take control of your career and hold yourself accountable to your choices in this industry, then buy this book. Monroe delivers information in this book that you can objectively apply to your career....what a concept!! I have not read another book claiming to be about "acting" that has done that yet. So as the book suggests, stop blaming others, create your own breaks, put the odds of success in your favor and order this book. There will be zero percent cognitive dissonance(a feeling of having made the wrong decision)after buying this book. Don't invest another dollar into your career until you have bought and read this book, and then read it again.

I wish this book were available 12 years ago.

The Theatrical Juggernaut is not only one of the most inspirational books any actor can read these days, but the pieces of advice dispensed by Monroe Mann, are really proved to work in the hard and unpredictable business of professional acting. I'm a living proof of it.
I am an actor who has succeeded and risen to the top of the voice-over business in Brazil and I've used almost every advice from the book, but BEFORE it got written! The actions mentioned in the book are mostly the ones I took to succeed in the beginning of my career and some others are procedures I still practice, up to today. Not to mention many other "techniques" I learned from Mr. Mann and intend to start using soon. I wish this book were available 12 years ago, when I started in the business. This way I wouldn't have had to figure everything out by myself and would probably have had more energy to get where I got faster. It was so much fun to read that I spent 8 straight hours in the tub (where I do most of my reading) and only got out when my wife barged into the bathroom saying: "Honey, get out of there or you're gonna turn into a raisin".
I recommend it to any fellow actor trying to make it out there and even to those seasoned professionals like me who have already gotten their share of success and intend to keep the good times rolling.

I was surprised at how much I liked this book. It was a quick read, very conversational in style. But, it shook me. I was embarrassed that I was not doing all I could for my career. It was the kind of tough-love scolding you can only get from someone who cares. It inspired me to get off my lazy butt to go and take some action.

An absolute must-have for any fan...

This enormous volume is a must for any fan of Marilyn's. There are over 400 pages of beautiful, high-quality photographs and photographer notes. Known as 'The Complete Last Sitting' (although it wasn't her last), the photographs are among the most stunning and haunting of the screen legend. Taken by photographer Bert Stern for Vogue, the session was a milestone for Marilyn. After winning her battle with Fox and being rehired for Something's Got to Give, the shoot was in many ways a celebration. At 36, Marilyn is luminous. Prior to the days of plastic surgery, she is as real as it gets. She doesn't try to hide her flaws. Scars, wrinkles, and smile lines are not hidden. The orange 'X's you see are where Marilyn scratched out the negatives, unhappy with anything but perfection from herself. They also serve as a sad reflection; that the most beautiful creature on earth thought she was anything but. These priceless pictures tell countless stories, frozen in the camera lens. The book is worth buying if only to view an actress who was so totally in control that she could convey a thousand different feelings with the arch of an eyebrow, the curve of a lip, or the slightest posture change. She is brilliant.

I am so happy I finally bought this book. I was hesitant to spend the money on something not entirely useful but it's breathtaking and so refreshing compared to all the red lips/platinum hair shots we see of her. The book is thicker and heavier than I imagined and has found it's place on my coffee table, partly because I can't move it around so easily. I am so so happy with this purchase!

The book is very well made with great quality paper. There is a little introduction by Bert Stern at the beginning and then all the pictures of the last sitting in chronological order. You can see big images, the ones that Stern thought were the good ones, and then the little ones which are very interesting and funny too. It's an incredible book, you can see a new Marilyn, more mature and prettier on the inside and on the outside.

4 1/2 Stars -Pretty Good 'Moon' Theme Anthology
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2006-08-06
I liked this one. Very different than any other anthology that I've read before. All three stories are based upon the effects of the Blue Moon (rare 2nd full moon during a month). Foster's is about a man who can read people's thoughts. Monroe's is about a women who gets 'magnetic' during that time and has to avoid anything with a computer and Castell's is about a women tossing her wedding band in to the fountain at a precise time & moon phase resulting in all her wishes coming true.

In all three stories the couples have steamy love scenes and fall in love. Is it for real or is it the moon?

Very cute stories. A good way to spend a lazy afternoon.

Great!!!!!!!!!!!!

Once in a Blue Moon by lori foster was great. Stan Tucker has wanted Jenna Rowan since he first moved to Delicious, Ohio, but he never thought she was intersted in him. That is until the blue moon comes and he suddenly knows all of Jenna's thoughts. The pretty, shy bookstore owner is having some hot ideas about them and they all include burning up the sheets. But now that he knowns she wants him he intends to do something about that before the blue moon ends.

Moon Magnestism by lucy monroe was wonderful too. Ivy Kendall can't stand the full moon. Since long before she was born the women in her family have been extremely magnetic on that day. That's why she has resisted her boss's Blake Hawthrone every suggestion on moderizing the hotel she has been working at. But no longer will Blake put up with this and by the time he's done he'll teach Ivy a lesson in Cooperation that will last a lifetime.

Moonstruck by Dianne Castell was a great read. Juila Simon has had the worst luck for years. Frist she married a jerk who cheated on her. But now Juila's looking to change her luck big time. Ever since she prefromed that blue moon ritual everyhting she wishes suddenly comes true. Like wanting hot passionate sex with P.I. Msrk Adams and guess what it happens. Now she can't help wondering if it's just a spell or the begging of something real.

I have to say that out of all the stories i thought Lucy Monroe's was the best. I LIKED ALL of the stories but lucy's was the one that i just had to read over and over again. They were all a great read.

I have briefly looked over some biographies about Marilyn Monroe and have got upset, but this book is the most touching I have read. There is not much truth that is told about the great baseball legend Joe Dimagio and his love for Marilyn. However, it is the Hollywood industry that makes up lies and untruths about her in ruining her image. We need to give credit to the author for being a caring and generous man who deeply respects Marilyn's memory. She would be in approval of this book because it can help her rest in peace. People need to know the truth and should really get to know that she is a good lady.

More than 600 books have been written about Marilyn Monroe since her death in 1962. While most of them have focused on the theories surrounding her apparent suicide at age 36, author Gary Vitacco-Robles focuses his new book on the actress' last home. Cursum Perficio: Marilyn Monroe's Brentwood Hacienda/The Story of Her Final Months reframes and redefines Marilyn through the context of her efforts to establish a secure home following a childhood spent in a succession of foster homes. The author theorizes that the actress was trying to correct her past by putting down roots of her own. While several previous authors depict her final months as tumultuous, Vitacco-Robles provides evidence that suggests Marilyn was trying to pull her life together and give it some personal meaning. During the spring and summer of 1962, Marilyn embraced her newfound domesticity by pulling weeds in her garden, writing recipes in her copy of The Joy of Cooking and actually using the pots and pans in her kitchen. The book contains actual photographs of the house, interspersed with realistic renderings of the home by artist Brandon Heidrick. The author divides the photos and illustrations with floor plans for each room and includes pictures of an architectural model that depicts the entire property as it appeared in 1962. After she purchased the 2,300 square foot house, Monroe began extensively researching authentic Mexican design, landscaping and furnishings in an effort to slowly transform it into the home of her dreams. She arranged for an 11-day trip to Mexico where she painstakingly selected fabrics, tapestries, painted tiles, pottery and art. Monroe met the native artists who had made by hand the objects that she would later display in her home. Vitacco-Robles is donating a portion of the royalties from sales of this book to Hollygrove Children and Family Services, formerly the Los Angeles Orphans Home Society, where Marilyn Monroe lived as a child.

There has been some confusion about the second edition of this book and the sales information on this site. According to the publisher, Iuniverse, the hardcover edition offered here is actually a "second edition" released in October 2003, although the release date printed is still listed as 2000. This is because it is a "re-do" under the same title previously released by the publisher. The new second edition cover for the paperback and hardcover depicts Marilyn standing beside the gates of her home and sell respectively for $20.95 and $30.95. The first edition was only published in paperback with a different cover for $11.95. The publisher says that vendors will continue to sell the first edition paperbacks until supplies depleted. The second edition contains new images, new chapters, re-worked chapters and information not included in the first. Having seen this book, the quality of photo reproduction in this new version are far superior than in the first. It also includes professional, "photorealistic-style" illustrations by artist Brandon Heidrick depicting the interior and exterior of Marilyn's home and furnishings. The images serve as a "virtual tour" of Marilyn's last home similar to the author's website.

When I first received my copy of Cursum Perficio: Marilyn's Brentwood Hacienda, I wasn't sure what to expect. Much to my surprise, I was enthralled and fascinated by the details of Marilyn's final months, so eloquently chronicled by Gary Vitacco-Robles. Void of any media hype and speculation about the cause of her death, Vitacco-Robles explores how Marilyn searched and found the perfect place to call home...a respite from the choatic life she led in the media spotlight.
You will journey with her as she went on shopping sprees for furnishings and ornaments in a quest to make the only home she ever owned a reflection of herself.
The book contains a vast collection of actual photographs, as well as impressive photo-recreations of the home's interior as it looked in 1962 and now.
I applaud Vitacco-Robles for a superb testamant to the woman so many longed to know. This book reveals a whole other side of Marilyn that has never been revealed.
A MUST HAVE for any Marilyn enthusiast!

My husband and I bought this book in the French Quarter on our honeymoon in 1976, and in spite of the care I've taken to protect it, it is now in tatters from all the use. Every recipe I've tried is wonderful, and many are standard fare now. For example, the Dutch Baby is a Sunday morning favorite, and Lemon Loves always get gobbled up first when taken to a summer party.

The amazing ladies and gentlemen who submitted the recipes use real ingredients for authentic results, and I'm thankful for the chance to get a new copy of this Southern classic.

This was one of the first Marilyn books I owned and I have to say it still stands out as one of my very favorites because it is so intimate, and the pictures show a very down to earth Marilyn that you feel like you could reach out and touch. George Barris was actually a long time photographer of Monroe, he had the pleasure of catching some of her most iconic moments on camera such as the famous shirt blowing scene from THE SEVEN YEAR ITCH and many more. These are by far his best of her though and I personally favor pics from Marilyn's later years (60's). I love the stories that Barris tells and I am getting ready to reread this book as it has been a few years, I think it is the type of book one can read over and over anyhow. As I have said all the pics are amazing especially the ones of Marilyn on the beach. These however are not the very last pics taken of Marilyn, just the last photo session. The very last shots of her can be found in the book "Mr. S.: The Last Word on Frank Sinatra" when she was on a yacht with Sinatra and at the Cal-Neva Lodge & Casino shortly before her death. Over all though this book is HIGHLY recommended and is essential for any Marilyn fan!

I was surprised at this book in Marilyn's own words. This interview was only a few weeks before her death. The pictures were amazing and beautiful. She did not seem at all depressed and was looking forward to the future. Makes you wonder if she was murdered. Surely seems that way after I read the book and looked at those pictures. It almost seems to say "see I want to live" and little did she know that her life was in danger! Poor Marilyn. I hope wherever she is, she knows that some people believe that she did not kill herself. And I hope she is at peace.

This was indeed a touching tribute. I felt very connected to Marilyn while reading her stories. The photos were just as gorgeous. I could have gone without George Barris' interjections as they usually just repeated what Marilyn said. But it was his book and she was apparently his friend, so I suppose he deserves some spotlight too.

Add this to your Monroe collections! It's a definite keeper.

I have to say that it is just amazing how after 44 years Marilyn Monroe is still considerd one of the most beautiful women to ever live. After seeing the photographs of Marilyn Monroe taken by Mr. Barris in this book I am not suprised that people are still captivated with the beauty of Marilyn Monroe. The pictures of Marilyn in this book are amazing and beautiful. Marilyn shows her true character in the most natural looking pictures I have ever seen of her. Each picture tells a story and shows you the woman Marilyn really was. Marilyn truely was a naturally beautiful woman and it shows in this book. This great book also lets you read and learn about the real person Marilyn Monroe was in her own words. Marilyn tells her life story in this book, taking you through her young years as Norma Jean to her Hollywood life as Marilyn Monroe. When you are reading this book it is very interesting to hear Marilyn talk about her life in her own words. Marilyn takes you along her life journey through the pages in this book. The only sad thing is when you are reading this book you wish Marilyn's life story would continue past the inevitable days of Marilyn's death on August 4-5,1962. I alreadly knew Marilyn was going to die before reading but it really made me sad because after reading this book it makes you feel like you actually knew Marilyn personally. That just goes to show how well written this book is. I have to say Mr. Barris you have done a great job writing this excellant book. Marilyn would truely have been happy with this book. Whether you are a Marilyn Monroe fan or you are just curious about this iconic Hollywood actress this book will definitely be intresting to read. Before I read this book I thought Marilyn Monroe was all Hollywood glitz and glamour. After reading this book however I found that Marilyn was a sweet down to earth woman who just wanted to be loved. I only hope Marilyn made it into heaven, because in her life most of the people that said they loved her and called themselves her friend only used and betrayed Marilyn. I hope that one day Marilyn's death will finally be proven as murder and this case of wrong doing can be closed so Marilyn can finally rest in peace.

My daughter brought this book home from her school library and both my husband and I were touched by this book so much that we ordered a copy for our family. This a great book for teaching the true meaning of friendship to all ages. I would recommend this book for anyone who works with children. It will be a tradition in our house for a long no matter what the season.

This is a wonderful book. My grandson loved the story and wanted me to read it to him many times. A nice twist on the sometimes touchy subject of cutting down a tree for Christmas.

I loved this book but from the cover art to the copy there is a tone of sadness. I bought it for a niece who is particulalry sensitive and it bothered her from the beginning. While I stressed the 'happy ending' the cover art really held her captive but in a sad way. It is a beautifully illustrated book but just know the child you are buying for. She is 6 and capable of understanding the difference between a book and reality so I tried to make it a teaching moment. Sadness is a real emotion so we talked about it in the framework of how life can be sad but it also often works out just fine.

A very nice story, with great illustrations. Good for all ages. It's not often that you see a book this meaningful, finished off so nicely.

I have a 2 and 4 year old, and I would buy this again. They'll understand it more each year, but it's a sweet storyline. I bought it used and it was aok.

This is a great book, and for the price, you can't go wrong, but the genuine article is the first edition from 1999. Much nicer covers, beautiful color prints. If you only buy one, the first edition is a MUST for any Marilyn Monroe fan!

I absolutely loved this book! It was fantastic. Marilyn Monroe was such a beautiful, talented person and this book definitely shows it. The pictures are sharp and bright and the captions are wonderful. The variety is nothing short of impressive. I highly recommend this "coffee table book" to any Monroe fan!

Now in a revised second edition, Marilyn Monroe: Cover To Cover by Clark Kidder is a unique collection for the fans one of Hollywood's best known personalities, as it features full-color illustrations of numerous magazine covers that showcased this talented actress and American heartthrob. Each picture offers a brief caption or memorable quote (often by Marilyn herself) about the picture, as well as the average selling price for good condition copies of the magazine. Marilyn Monroe: Cover To Cover is a very highly recommended resource for celebrity memorability collectors in general, and Marilyn Monroe fans in particular.

This thoroughly unique and enjoyable approach to the documentation of Marilyn's career is a comprehensive collection of magazine covers from all around the world, featuring her throughout her career. The whole is an eclectic gathering of photos highlighting her metamorphosis from unknown young model to luminous superstar.

Although many of the more well known American covers are absent, there is plenty here to satisfy! The variety and sheer number of colorful covers is impressive. The memorable quotes that accompany so many of the covers capture the essence of her endearing personality without being an actual biography, and the timeline is a good but brief overview of many of the important events in her life.

Although I am not an avid collector of MM memorabilia, I'm sure the pricing information would be valuable to those who are. I found comparing the various values to be very interesting reading. I can only imagine the painstaking work that went into identifying each of these photos and determining the worth of each cover.

This would be a welcome and unique addition to any MM library - highly recommended!

The author explains in plain english, complex subconcious thinking patterns that all of use to sabotage our growth, personal achievement and success in life. It's a pity this knowledge is not "mainstreamed" and taught in grade school, if it were there would be alot less suffering in the world! A must read for anyone wanting to better their lives!

This is a cutting edge book. If you are like me an adepte of self education and self improvement, this book is a gold mine. Unlike a lot of books written in this erea, the Powermind System's approach is a scientific one. The way the 12 lessons are organized makes very easy to read and understand the concepts of universal laws. In short this is a must read and must keep!

This Book Will Forever Change Your Personal, Financial, Business, and Spiritual Life

I buy a lot of self-help books. This book which is part of the Power Mind System is one of the most practical self-help books that I have ever bought. I have learned techniques from this book that have enabled me to make tremendous progress in my business, personal, financial and spiritual life, including techniques from the book that helped me tap into my subconscious and superconscious minds. I am now effectively using the book's techniques of purposeful saving methods to become financially independent.

The author's own amazing story will also inspire you to accomplish more in your personal and business life. But the two most valuable things that I walked away from this book are the 8 scientific goal setting techniques and strategies that you can use today and the system of autogenic conditioning and scientific prayer.

An Excellent Synthesis

I would guess Mr. Kieffer would admit that he is more of a synthesizer than an originator. I think he does a wonderful job of bringing the ideas of many mindpower/success gurus together in one place. His enthusiastic presentation is infectious. If you like books of this type I think you will find it comprehensive, clear, and inspiring.

I was really looking forward to receiving this based on the glowing reviews. Call me a crazy fool, but I found it uninspiring and hackneyed. Maybe that's because, like many reviewers, I've read them all from Napoleon Hill to Tony Robbins to Brian Tracy to Rosalene Glickman, etc, so perhaps I'm becoming a bit jaded. Keifer seems similarly to have read them all, and he isn't shy about name-dropping at the front of the book, as if the illustrious roll call added more weight to what is a derivative end product. He's obviously taken copious notes, come up with a new 'system' and joined the self-help bandwagon (complete with allusions to God - ACK! - a major turnoff for me, but hey, whatever floats your particular Noah's Ark...)

Disappointingly, there's nothing new or original here. The book reads more like a manual for fixing your car than an inspirational tour de force. If you're unfamiliar with the genre, maybe you'll find it a worthwhile read. If you're unfamiliar with any of the greats, do yourself a favour and pursue the far more rewarding and satisfying goal of reading them first - as Keifer has. That's why they're the best - they're the best motivators. The Powermind System may be 'scientific', but it's insipid and dull in comparison. I literally fell asleep reading this. Go figure.
