Using this book to teach reading to 7-8th graders in a special education class. The students remain interested and get excited about reading these stories. The students are challanged, as well as feeling good about themselves because they have read a whole story and can still remember enough about it to make the final decision of guilty or innocent!

When I got this book, I hadn't even started gymnastics. So I could't do most of the stuff in it. So I only recommend it to people who are beginners and who's coach has already gone over it.

This is a very good book for young beginning gymnasts.

I thought that it was a good book for just beginning, but if you want to get it make sure you are just starting or it will be all stuff you already know and it wont be of very much use. I was in level 2 when i got it, but i think it would be of more use if i got it last year.

A GREAT BOOK FOR GYMNASTS!

This book is great for young gymnasts. Or any age as a matter of fact. The foreword is by Shannon Miller, America's most decorated gymnast. This book tells you how to do some basic skills and warm-ups. It covers each apparatus in gymnastics, including rhythmic and sports acrobatics. If you're a gymnast, then this is the book for you.

Monumental Achievement!

Rabbi Miller has given us English readers a wonderful insight into the spiritual dynamic within Judaism. It is both thorough and most accessible. A fascinating read for those seeking to understand more about the world, creation, and figures from the Torah.

This volume starts off with the Beginning, Genesis year 0000, and continues as our forefathers come of age. Rabbi Miller explores the significance of the flood and the generation of Noah; the monumental events that led Abraham to leave the house of his father and ultimately become the father of nations; and other famous occurrences.

I enjoyed this work immensely, and I eagerly await the concurrent volumes.

Rabbi Miller has done the English-speaking world an invaluable service in this accurate and beautiful translation of the Zohar. His authoritative introduction is an excellent, concise and clear exposition of the fundamental concepts of Jewish mysticism, and would be a worthy addition to any library in and of itself. He then goes on to trace, line by line, the first four portions of the Torah, from "In the beginning . . . " to the binding of Isaac, introducing the relevant passages from the Zohar which comment upon, elucidate, and expound the inner esoteric dimensions hidden within and alluded to by the text. Rabbi Miller's own helpful commentary interspersed within the passages guides and informs the reader through the more difficult sections, and provides a wealth of background knowledge and interpretation unavailable to all but the most diligent of scholars. Thoroughly annotated and with extensive bibliographical references and a concise glossary of Kabbalistic terms, this first of what I hope will be many volumes opens up and reveals to a spirit-thirsty world what the Torah has meant to those who most fully lived and breathed its words and walked along its holy and life-giving path.

Outstanding, Insightful, and easy to Comprehend.

A major work translated into English for all to gain the Sacred Wisdom from the Zohar. The Zohar is one of the classic texts of the Kabbalah, which means "received tradition," for the teachings of Kabbalah were handed down from master to student, from generation to generation. But it also means "parallel" because Kabbalah in general, and Zohar in particular, draws parallels between things which have no apparent connection. The Zohar does this by examining the spiritual root of things above, and finding that ultimately everything is connected in and through their original source. Wisdom for all to receive.

Assessment by a Technical CEO

This 83-page book handles an all-too-tacit subject that affects all of us, with refreshing realism, projected recovery duration, and an optimistic outlook for the future.

Part of the helpful realism candidly shown throughout this thought-provoking book is an ongoing assessment of the medical profession's pros and cons which is well worth many times the book's price. Through the author's experiences we can armor ourselves against the shock of unrealistic expectations and misplaced guilt regarding the medical profession and all other aspects of this phase of life which none of us can escape.

An optimistic sense of recovery is expressed in Chapters 12 and 13 that provides hope and guidance for the wife/now widow. Chapter 15 ends with a message that is universally good and correct: celebrate being alive. CELEBRATE BEING ALIVE! CELEBRATE LIFE.

This story is told in a chronology of fifteen chapters followed by "A Short Course on Goals" and a bibliography in a highly useful book completion.

This book spoke to me in a very special way

This afternoon I planned to skim the manuscript "#1 Mensch: How I Survived the Death of My Husband," by April Miller. I have a very busy life, but must tell you I couldn't put this book down. This book spoke to me (and I am 46 years old, married with two teen-agers), in a very special way.

I had expected a sentimental, blubbering story of a grieving victim, "how unfair the world is to widows" type personal account-but this is not at all what the book is about. True, it is one woman's personal experience with the various stages of grief, recovery and enlightenment, but it is also about appreciating life's gifts and tackling head-on what life hands out. We see through this manuscript a spunky but quite ordinary person taking on the medical establishment, looking into choices and alternatives, becoming the strong one in the relationship and eventually growing from dependant to independent and an achieving survivor.

What did I learn (after all, I have a living, healthy husband) was the stuff you don't learn in school, the things that people don't talk about: how to cope with adversity, resources to tap into, and what one might expect when caring for a loved one who, unlike a child who does more each day, can do less each day due to a terrible disease.

"#1 Mensch" is most readable, real yet full of hope. I would recommend this book to those coping with loss of a loved one, whether a spouse, parent, sibling, child or friend, and to those who some time in their future will need to face these difficulties -- for no one gets out of this world alive.

I really liked this book (and the series of 100 Classic Hikes). I live in Illinois, but do a lot of hiking in Colorado and these books are very helpful in getting you to the location and then describing the hike. I have yet to be disappointed by one of the hikes described in these books.

We visited Asheville, NC in the Summer of 2008 and absolutely loved it. I have posted more information on a few hikes in North Carolina and Colorado on my climbing/hiking website at www.MountainInsider.com

An Excellent Choice for the Early Intermediate Blues Guitarist

A turnaround is a lick played at the end of a section of music. A blues turnaround would be played in measures 11-12 of a 12-bar blues, or measures 7-8 of an eight-bar blues.

Electric urban blues turnarounds are fairly easy to play, and the difference from one to another is subtle. Having the ability to play a variety of turnarounds is an important skill in blues guitar playing. This is the best book I know of that addresses exclusively the subject of electric blues guitar turnarounds.

This a book for a VERY ambitious beginner, or an early intermediate guitarist who has an interest in Chicago blues in the classic style of Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Jimmy Reed, etc.

The licks are all arranged in the key of C. This is for ease of analysis and comparison. The user is encouraged to transpose the licks to other keys - a worthwhile project for exploring and learning the fingerboard. Very, very good practice for learning the art of blues phrasing.

Great book from one of our leading authors. My students (and myself) have consistently benefited from the interesting instruction contained here.

My students and I work from a several of Larry McCabe's guitar books and find that the books produce consistently high results.

This book, like the others, is exceptionally well crafted, specific in intent, and the guitar lines are accurately written exactly as they are heard on the CD. Larry McCabe books are the work of a dedicated teacher who has achieved a high level of respect nationally in the field of music education.

Larry asked me to write a review for this book, and I am happy to do so. The object of this book is to teach the art of playing blues guitar turnarounds to a guitarist who has some prior experience but is just beginning to explore electric blues.

If a student knows how to bend the strings and perhaps play slurs, slides, and hammers, blues turnarounds are not difficult to play. What is important is to play them authentically and with conviction. This book does a very good job in advancing those objectives.

A component of this book that is quite effective is that every phrase is written in the Key of C. The student should then transpose each lick to other keys, a desirable skill that encourages individual incentive and ability to solve arranging problems.

The turnarounds sound exactly like the ones played on classic blues recordings by the great artists from Chicago and other urban areas.

I know other teachers who swear by Larry's books, and I am one of them. Great book- effective in its aims, ambitious content, fun to work through, and a great value.

I think this may well become the standard reference guide for glass collectors. Beautifully designed, accessible and I thought very comprehensive in its coverage. Starting with blown and cased glass then pressed and moulded, iridescent, enamelled, painted, stained, engraved and finally cut glass. Each of these sections is broken down into national styles, for instance, the Scandinavian section of blown and cased glass covers Kosta Boda, Orrefors, Holmegaard, Riihimaki and Karhula-Iittala. All the glass shown has a caption that includes a dimension and price guide. The back of the book includes a glossary, dealer and museum addresses and that all-important index.

A particularly interesting chapter is the last one, contemporary and studio glass. Eighty-two artists are featured with one or two examples of their work. This is beautiful fine art glass and with some items it is hard to believe that they are made out of such a brittle substance. Predictably, there is not much in this section costing less than a thousand dollars.

I think it is worth commenting on the presentation. All the pages are very cleanly designed with typographic clarity for the main text, captions, key dates and designer information. The photos (over a 1,100) are presented as cutouts and almost jump off the page, all this glass looks just stunning.

BTW. The main US publishers of collector's books should study '20th-Century Glass', this is what highly visual titles should look like!

I have recently read Mary Lyn's book The 8 Myths of Making a Living (and the Truth of Making a Life). I have found the book to be truely inspirational. Mary Lyn's ideals are the foundations I now use as the basis for chartering my own life's course. I keep refering back to it for guidance as I move forward towards my life goals. I guess you could say that 'The 8 Myths' has become my Bible for navigating my way towards the passionate life I was meant to live! I highly recommend this read for anyone interested in living a passionate, hopeful, and inspired life.
