"Nutshells" are not just for slackers who blew off the semester and need to cram at the last minute. I've been consistently impressed with the quality of West's Nutshell series. They're excellent study aids for summary, clarification, and getting the key points and big picture. This one is written by two prominent scholars in the field, the senior of whom (Harry Krause at Illinois) is also the lead editor on one of the major casebooks (Krause, Elrod, Garrison, Oldham, Family Law: Cases, Comments, and Questions). Thus this little book is epecially valuable if your class is using that casebook.

This nutshell provides an excellent tour through all the major areas and issues of family law. There's a nice balance among history, leading cases, and commentary on how the law is evolving. It's short, concise, and, as the authors are not afraid to be droll now and then, a breezy, interesting, and pleasant read.

My family moved to Asia (from Australia) 4 years ago. At that time, we comprised of 2 adults and three rather outgoing 'typical aussie' kids (aged 6 and under).

While living in Asia, we've made an effort to travel out of country every three months for well needed 'environmental relief'.

At first we limited our travels to places such as Hong Kong & Thailand. Nothing too spectacular from memory.

Then, after that first year, I was handed a copy of 'The Family Travel Guide' by an American friend. I didn't think I'd get much out of it...

WELL, that book hasn't left the coffee table since. It's been used primarily for 'inspiration' over the years, but the contact details have also proven most useful.

My children will never forget the time they met Santa (last Easter) or the Pope waiving from his window in the Vatican City (six months prior).

To add to this, they've now been priviledged enough to visit the likes of Scotland, Turkey, Nepal, China and several other nations in SE Asia.

This book taught me that 'kids clubs' are not the "be all - end all".

More parents, if they're fortunate enough to have the funds to travel with their tribe, should curl up on the couch with 'The Family Travel Guide'. It's been a God's send to us!

I may be biased because my husband collects windup toys, but the series of popup books by Michael Welply are adorable! Wonderful artwork for hands on fun, the little details are great. Thanks Michael, these are wonderful additions to the collection! A book you can play with using your hands and imagination... And kids will like them too!

How cool it is to have this classic brought back into print! And I love the cover artwork and the internal design...a great updated look for us today.

But what is inside is the best yet. For example as I read part of Meyer's personal testimony...his longing to get what his buddies Hudson Taylor and C.T. Studd had...he asked them, "What is the difference between you and me? You seem so happy!" Discovering the answer launched Meyer out into a whole new ministry...this made me long for more too.

This is a wonderful former dissertation that became a good book, especially important now as we witness the ruin of the US auto industry, with the full complicity of its inmates. Notably, the last people to jump the sinking ship will be the UAW leadership, not the Ford or GM bosses. The UAW bosses need to preserve their pensions, while the Big Auto bosses know they are not in business to make cars, but money. How US auto came to its zombie like state now is, of course, rooted in its past, and Meyer does a fine job getting us in at the start. From Taylor, who sought to strip the mind of the worker on the job and to replace that mind with the mind of the boss, to the Christian benevolent societies that sought to Improve the Foreigners by destroying their culture---and the carrots and sticks that made that possible---all of that is here in the text. And the finger story is worth the price of admission alone.

I love flowers and this is the best calendar I've seen in a long time. The radiographs of these flowers are breath-taking. I'm actually buying a large print to frame for my living room.

I can hardly wait for 2008 when I can begin to use this calendar on my wall. The flower pictures are unique and lovely.
