If you ever wanted to know anything about this massive airplane you will probably find it in this awesome book. The book will take you back in time to the development and life of the greatest of bombers. The book is not just a bunch of statistics either. It is not a boring narrative, but is full of all kinds of fascinating stories and incidents that went on in the life and times of this great airplane. It is printed on fine glossy stock and has many wonderful pictures from all through the years of the Peacemakers existance. Highly recommended!!!

Good reference on the B-36 Peacemaker. Well illustrated with black and white as well as color photographs. Many cut away drawings and diagrams. Lots of background development. Good historical as well as technical information. Lacking in material on the FICON and Parasites fighter programs

It is silly to try to fault this book.
I recall being impressed, as a kid, with the Harleyford books from England--"The Supermarine Spitfire," and "The Focke Wulf FW-190." For their time, they were very good indeed.
But they cannot begin to compare with this massive book on the B-36. It is in a class of its own.
First the sheer size of this beast. Its huge, and its all about one airplane, the B-36.
Granted, you have to be fascinated with the B-36 to buy it, but if the monster bomber fascinates you, doing better would be impossible.
There are chapters on everything. The book covers B-36 defensive armament, payload, service with SAC, service in movies, the "revolt" of the Admirals, and on and on. Incredible detail.
There are more photos than you can count. There is a section of color photos. Some are very good, and quite unusual. You have not have seen them before.
I recall the B-36 as a kid. I remember one flying over my house--and being amazed by the size, noise, and sheer presence of the aircraft. I have always loved the B-36. It takes me back to a better time. I will admit that I look to the past with great nostalgia. I often look back to the days of cars with chrome, Davy Crockett caps and rifes, Ike in the White House, and the B-36. This book will take you there.
It was fun growing up in a country which not only made, but made operational, a plane like the B-36. Wow, that was, and still is , special. And so is this book.

Well, I finally finished the book. I guess I will join the many 5 star reviewers. After reading this book, I have a great foundation of all the features AE offers. I didn't want to do too much as far as working the tons of examples the book offers this go'round, I just wanted to learn the "language". Now I will go through the book again. This time tackling the projects along with my own ideas.
I was a novice going in, and still am to an extent, but the Meyer's takes the intimidation out of you and teaches you principles where when you do speak to other seasoned artist you understand and can execute anything they do.

This is a great book. It has a little bit of beginner stuff (enough to get you started if you don't know AE) and then goes into intermediate and pro stuff.
I would not consider this book to be only pro level techniques, but still full of good stuff. The content on the CD is really nice to add to the collection although some (well, all of the Artbeats stuff) is watermarked in the lower right corner. Most of the other footage is not.
This book makes a nice companion to After Effects Cs3 Studio Techniques by Mark Christensen (another awesome AE book)

Advanced After Effects Motion Graphics is for the editor with some AE miles under their belt. It is not really a beginner book, but does start you off slowly with great step by step instruction. However, you will eventually need this book but buy it together with the Meyers' After Effects Apprentice which starts you off in the AE wourld. Any of the Meyers books are just what you need to learn AE. Highly recommended!!

My mom bought me chicken soup for the kids, preteen and preteen 2's soul. I fell in love with the series. Well, my Grams and Grandpa's anniversery was coming up so I thought a rose bouquet, a card, and a chicken soup book would be perfect. I looked for a chicken soup book that would be for 60+ people and I found this! It's just great. But one thing thats not true: Anyone can read this and enjoy it! I am just a kid and I liked it. My grandparents definetly liked it. I recommend this book for everybody!

This is number six in the series and it's a considerable improvement over number five. The first story concerns Jack's aborted career in Hollywood after leaving Fabletown in possession of a large quantity of stolen loot. As a talented con-man, he turns out to be a natural in the movie world and his first project -- a LOTR-like trilogy about his own fairy tale career -- is enormously successful. But he's still a louse, which is why the miniaturized Jill rats him out to Mr. Beast, Fabletown's new sheriff, and he finds himself on the road again, the least unpleasant option available to him. Then we go to the adventures of Boy Blue as he treks through the enemy-occupied Homelands in pursuit of Red Riding Hood, and to return the dead wooden body of his best buddy, Pinocchio, to Geppetto. And maybe he can do something about The Adversary while he's at it. Turns out Blue had a more-colorful-than-expected earlier career as a swashbuckling sword-swinger -- but things don't turn out quite as he expected. Then we return to the Farm, upstate, where Mowgli (a "tourist," i.e., undercover secret agent working abroad) has come back to try to spring Bagheera from the pokey. Then it's back to the tribulations of Boy Blue for a temporary resolution. There's a lot of good storytelling in this arc.

In this case, it's the world of "Fables," the place where storybook characters have (or had) real lives versus the hundred or more planets under control of The Adversary. The Fables live in exile here on Earth, blending in when they look human enough, and withdrawing to a private enclave if they don't. No matter how many hundreds of years they live among us, they still have a dream of returning to their one-time home. Five of the seven monthlies collected in this volume follow a heroic quest to make return possible - an attempt to assassinate The Adversary himself. The story takes several startling turns, and promises more action in future volumes.
The other two monthlies reproduced here each tell one-issue stories of their own. In the first, Jack (of the Beanstalk, of the giant-killing and of many other stories) sets out to find his fortune, as he's done so very successfully so many times before. And he does - up until he incurs the wrath of a woman scorned, and doscovers just how much wrath can be packed in even a small woman. The other story looks inside the new administration. It's not nearly so solid as they'd like people to think, and a side-trip of an adventure gets under way. By its nature, it's best told in small glimpses at long intervals, so I'm looking forward to more of it.
This collection represents something a turning point in the Fables' tale. For one thing, we learn far more about the scope and power of The Adversary, with hints that the war is about to heat up. For another, it makes less mention of the Fables' fabulous lives. Partly for that reason, this might be the first in this series of collections that I wouldn't recommend to a newcomer. It certainly lives up to the standards of the earlier stories, but really works best for someone who already knows something about the characters and the premise of the story. It's very enjoyable, make no mistake, but easier to enjoy if you've been reading the series in order so far.

The premise of this wonderful series is to rewrite and expand the world of fairy tales. They characters of which has entered our world fleeing a great evil. Lost of fun, smart and witty, typical american style illustrations for the most part, but nice. Some similarities of premise to the Sand Man series, but not quite as inventive or as extensively research and deep. Start at #1 for the best read.

I really have to hand it to them, I wasn't that much of a fan of Jack or Blue until I read this collection. Jack's story takes place with his greatest scheme yet, which places him in Hollywood, creating a blockbuster trilogy and boom... well, you have to see. And Boy Blue's story is just fantastic as he battles his way across the Homelands to rescue Pinnochio and Red Riding Hood. A definite must.

This sixth volume of the "Fables" series does not disappoint. If you want to start the series at this point....don't. In order to fully appreciate this volume, you should start with Volume 1 and work your way forward. Storylines that have been under development for sometime are tied together at this point.
Don't even read anymore of this review! :-)
In a way, this graphic novel is about what happened to the things 'stolen' from Fabletown after the Adversary's attack and Prince Charming's election as Mayor.
The first part deals with Jack Horner and what he did with the contents of the late Bluebeard's missing treasure room. Up until now he has been portrayed as the pathetic hustler with one flawed get-rich scheme after another. Jack is the kind of guy that got your sister pregnant and then skipped town. He's the guy that's always borrowing money with no intention of paying it back. This is the loser your girlfirned dumped you for.....
Well this is one of his good ideas. Old Jack is a huge success. Even though he's set back at the end, he's still set up for his own personal series that I've reviewed elsewhere.
As satifying as the Jack tale is, it can't compare with Boy Blue's saga. He's left Fabletown stealing the Witching Cloak, the Volpal Blade and his best friends Pinocchio's body. He's returning to the Homelands to 1) Find Gepetto and see if he can fix Pinocchio 2) Reunite with his lost love - Red Riding Hood.
This is where Willingham and company's genius shines. Our nerdy trumpet-playing office clerk is really a man of cunning, brilliance, conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity. It's like Peter Parker and Spiderman. His primary motives are loyalty and love to the people closest to him. For this he risks his life in returning to the Adversary's empire, the Valley of the Shadow of Death referred to in the title. The journey is perilous and skillfully plotted with surprises and revelations along the way.
If I'm ever in jam, I'd want Boy Blue to come to my rescue.

It is entirely possible (and biblical, most importantly) to yearn for something all the while, trusting the Lord for His provision of it in His time, if He wills. This was a refreshing book about the true heart of a woman created by God, one who feels deeply. It encouraged me to ache over lost things, desired things, missed things.
The author comes from her own heartache of a broken engagement in her past and knows how to be raw and real before the Lord.

I found this book rather randomly one day while I was shopping for a gift. I searched for John Elderidge's book, Wild At Heart, and bought it for a growing Christian friend. Under recommended titles, I saw The Allure of Hope by Jan Meyers. Having read Wild at Heart, I had been wanting something similar that addressed the issues faced in a woman's life rather than a man's. John Elderidge actually wrote the introduction to this book and recommended it highly. So, respecting him as an author, I bought a copy.
I absolutely loved it and I have since given away copies to friends and family alike. I felt like it was relevant to events in my life and helped me to work through some problems that I have encountered as a developing Christian. Many Christian books that address lifestyles and relationships with God seem "preachy" to me, and I have a difficult time getting into them. I also feel like they dwell too heavily on discipline and abstinance, neglecting the source of discontent that leads people astray. Jan Meyers, however, does an excellent job by speaking to the reader as a peer. Her voice sounds like that of a friend and it conveys a sense of pain that she is experiencing and working through, much like her audience. Her writing, while it may lack the eloquence and development of John Elderidge, is powerful nonetheless because of its honesty, tenderness, and warmth.
This book is an excellent read for any woman searching for a closer and purer relationship with God. I plan on using it in a Bible study I am leading later this year.

I've had this book for several months now, and I've been lazy about writing a review. I have read sections of the book over and over again. It's that kind of useful, life-guide. Like a cookbook, for you best life yet!
When you pick up the book and look at the cover, there's a beautiful woman smiling at you in an encouraging manner. This is Tara. Tara's smile invites you to be open to her and her ideas. You practically feel like you know her from the minute that you pick up the book. Take a few minutes to begin reading the book. You'll be taken in by Tara's warm, easy writing style. It's like having a friend read the book to you. This is NOT a stressful self-help book to read; I didn't feel inadequate or worthless. It's not doom and gloom, and it was written for today's person - be it male or female.
This book is about changing your life, getting into "the flow", and making your life ALL that it can be. It's about getting to the root of what ails you, and giving you the tools that you need to be successful at having a fulfilling life. It's easy to read, insightful, and full of practical advice. This is a self-help book written by an effective and experienced guide. It's a bargain for the quality of writing and the value that you get out of the book.
PS - I also HIGHLY recommend listening to Tara speak in person. She's extremely motivational, and a very inspirational woman with a fantastic story.

Add Tara Meyer-Robson to your list of inspired teachers and guides you have hoped to come across in your life. This is a fabulous read first with valuable insights into how we create our own experiences in life followed with tools to better apply these insights in better understanding our unique individual nature to create the life experience we want and deserve. It should come with a warning however - do not open this book if you aren't ready for some serious introspection if not a transformation in your life.

Ms. Meyer-Robson's approach to a complex and multi- faceted subject is refreshingly clear and ultimately GROK-able. I am halfway thru my 40 days and although I felt kind of goofy doing the exercises at first, I now feel these small changes are actually making a difference. It's not really anything new what she is saying in this book--I've read a number of books on the same topic-- but the way she writes, her easy accessible style, really feels like she is talking to you directly. I never felt that way with Deepak or Eckhart and I was listening very hard. I'd give The Flow 5 stars but since I'm only half-way thru the 40 days I thought it best to be prudent so I give it 4 stars for now...

Congratulations Tara on a brilliant book! I will eventually end up giving this book to as many people as I possibly can. I have not finished it yet, but was so excited to express my appreciation to you that I wanted to write this review immediately. Thank you for combining your vast wisdom about life with an incredible sense of intuition and higher consciousness. The Flow is perfect for those who need the facts, but also for those who either have a heightened sense of spirituality or want to achieve one. The best part about reading this book is the ongoing relationship with someone as special as you are via emails, podcasts, and other great tools to continue with the growth process. I look forward to the new life that I have always dreamed of, thanks to you. I hope that you experience as much joy in your life as your readers do when they pick up The Flow! Thank you Tara!

I am the Director of The Waud Patient and Family Resource Center based out of Rush Presbyterian St. Lukes Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. I am a nurse by career choice, and a caregiver by nature. I have provided home care and hospice care to a number of family members. I found this book useful to teach family members how to take care of someone at home. It has clear illustrations, step by step instructions for those tasks caregivers do every day, and a resource listing for those items that help make the job easier. It also has introductions to other areas of care which are very informative. This book empowers people without any healthcare education or experience to understand the mechanics of taking care of another person - no matter where they live. If you have family in a nursing home, this book will help you evaluate the care they receive. Both personally and professionally I would recommend this book to any person with a loved one who needs care.

This book was very easy to read and contained a lot of practical tips on a wide variety of subjects. I liked the tips on how to make items yourself, cutting costs on things like hair washing aids and for making your home safe and navigable. The simple illustrations make the instructions easy to follow and the abundance of listed resources for more information and support was a nice bonus.

I inherited this book my second year of teaching in 1989 when the librarian was throwing out old books (imagine!)....
In any case, I read it out loud for the first time to my class of third graders and could hardly read it for laughing so hard. My class and I loved it. I read it to my own children in the 90's. I have the book and have thought of selling it on e-bay (as it fetches a great price), but my boys want to keep it to read to their own children one day. Now, that's a classic!

Back in the late 1960's, my wonderful sixth-grade homeroom teacher, Mr. Broglie, would read to us each morning. Tradition dictated that "Where the Red Fern Grows" would be one of the first books read that year (and it is indeed a great book), but he added a new book when I was in his class, one my older sisters had not heard: Me and Caleb.
I really wish I could find this book again, not just for my own enjoyment, but that my own kids could read it, too. (and a PS -- all these years later, I still shiver when I remember the poisonous snake in the river!)

My sixth grade teacher read Me and Caleb and Me and Caleb Again to our class. I remember her laughing so hard she cried. And so did we. Later, I would check these books out from the town library and read them over and over and over again. I've read a lot of books in the 30 years since, but I will say that these are two of my all time favorites.
It should be reprinted!

Both my wife and I read this book as children, and were so impressed that 25 years later we named one of our own children Caleb. Bud just didn't seem to work. We have borrowed it from the school library and read it to our kids, who also loved it.
This is a timeless classic that is completly politically incorrect, and a total joy.
It needs another printing.

Although this book was written in 2000, when I saw it at a book boutique I bought it immediately...a fabulous book on a unique culinary culture for those who love to delve into french cooking recipes. I highly recommend it! The photos transport you back there and it has made me so homesick to return to Paris again even though I return there every year when I can to visit family there and have always made it a pilgrimmage to go to the Marches a few times a week, especially to the 'Richard Lenoir Marche at Place de La Bastille in the 11th arrondisement...you can spend the entire morning (they close at 1PM) there perusing from table to table and end your day walking home in the streets of Paris with a tote-ful of delicacies to prepare the sumptious evening 'repas'
The varieties of each food are endless and fabulous and fresh, the colors of the fruits and vegetables are brilliant, the energy at the marches are exhuberant, and venders are so proud of their products...This book really does take you back to feeling like you are there in the midst of a culinary feast; the recipes are easy and with US measurements, and the descriptions of each arrondisement gives you such a personal tour that you feel akin to each personality they present you with. This is really the true colloquial joie de vivre experience in Paris-a way to commune with nature's bounty. I highly recommend this book; 5 stars!! a true feast for the eyes!!

Nicolle Aimee Meyer and Amanda Pilar Smith have created a book that is part travel guide, part cookbook, part biography -- and all wonderful! The photographs are terrific. The text brings the markets and their people to life. And I can't wait to try some of the recipes, which are for many classic French favorites. Altogether a complete success! Bravo!!

Beautiful photography and lively writing make this a perfect gift this holiday season (or any time) for anyone who likes to eat and loves Paris. Even for a longtime resident of the City of Lights like myself, this book brings another Paris to life, one you will want to explore again and again, in these pages and of course like the authors did themselves, bicycling through every arrodisement, leaving no quartier unvisited, no fromage untasted, no croissant unfinished! A magnificent and original hommage sure to earn its place among the classics of cuisine and travel.

I love this book! The cover roped me right in and before I knew it I was buying it. I am so glad I did. The book is organized by arrondissement; each chapter is devoted to one of them. They tend to focus on the biggest or best market in each arrondissement but they devote paragraphs to the others. The text itself is gracefully written and yet very convivial. For each of the main markets, the authors start you out on a typical Parisian morning and gently suggest the path you might want to follow as you navigate that particular market; it is almost as though they are walking along with you. They tell you what's available at each market and what are each market's strengths and weaknesses. You will be introduced to a lot of people - the butcher at the Marché d'Aligre, the poissonier at the Richard Lenoir, the organic farmer at the Batignolles market, the interesting old fellow who hawks bath salts as he soaks his feet in green water... I feel as though I'd be able to walk up to them and say hi. There's some history mixed in there, too, so you'll get to see some nice old photos and learn about everday Parisians of the past. And of course there are the recipes. Most of them appear delicious and a few rather exotic. Many of them come from the very people that you "met" in the chapter preceding, so you know they're authentic and the human element makes you want to try the recipe all the more.
I love Paris. This book really gives you a sense of what it is like to be there - colorful, vibrant, stately, modern, classic, young, old... Paris is all of these things and more at once. I went there seven years ago and I don't think I hit a single market. This book makes me feel incredibly well-equipped; I think that without it I would feel a bit intimidated. I plan to go back and I'm gonna bring this book with me!

"Worship is a choice we make. Whether we worship God or not, is always an act of our own will. Our will determines whether we make it our first reaction to things that happen to us - or don't happen to us - or a last resort. If we do not make it our first reaction, then we cannot possibly make it a way of life. And if we do not make praise a way of life, we will never experience all God has for us."
This book was a Christmas gift which I thoroughly enjoyed as I have never read any of the author's works. Stormie Omartian writting is incredible and she is bent on showing us how practical praising God and worshiping Him can affect all our lives. Because God dwells and inhabits the praises of His people we are sure that He is near, and as we send our praises up He sends His blessings down to us. There is no Praise that God the Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit are unaware of. He empowers us and draws us closer to Him. When we are closer to Him we yearn to be just like Him and we get the very sense of the Kingdom. Stormie Omartian walks us through the many reasons why we should praise God, and she allows us to know when praise is crucial.
Another thing I loved about this book was after each chapter there was a nice long prayer of Praise, then a study to make sure we understood what we had just read, and bible verses to dwell on. This book was well laid out and well written, and can be used as a devotional if you care to. Very well done. I look forward to reading more of Stormie Omartian's work. May God continue to bless her and use her towards the honour and glory of His Kingdom. For surely we can be made better and brighter christians by following her teaching.
