I`VE JUST FINISHED READING THIS BEAUTIFUL MYSTERIOUS STORY WHICH IS A MUST FOR LOVERS OF THE WORK OF ARTIST EDWARD BURNE-JONES. JOSCELINE DIMBLEBY`S GREAT-AUNT AMY GASKELL WAS THE SUBJECT OF A BEAUTIFUL DARK PORTRAIT BY EDWARD BURNE-JONES BUT ALL THAT IS KNOWN ABOUT AMY, WAS THAT SHE HAD DIED FROM A BROKEN HEART. IN JOSCELINE`S SEARCH SHE DISCOVERS A CACHE OF UNPUBLISHED LETTERS FROM BURNE-JONES TO HER GREAT-GRAND MOTHER MAY GASKELL, AMY`S MOTHER. THEY FORMED A PASSIONATE AND PROLIFIC CORRESPONDENCE, OF UP TO FIVE LETTERS A DAY, FOR THE LAST SIX YEARS OF THE PAINTERS LIFE. JOSCELINE`S PICTURE SHOWS A REMARKABLE LIKENESS TO AMY. THE ENTHRALLING FAMILY HISTORY UNFOLDS AS THE FAMILY SKELETONS ARE DISCOVERED AND THE REASONS BEHIND AMY`S TRAGIC DEATH. THE PAPERBACK PUBLISHED IN 2005 WAS FULL OF BEAUTIFUL FAMILY PHOTOS AND COPIES OF EDWARD BURNE-JONES LETTERS TO MAY WHICH GIVE A WONDERFUL INSIGHT INTO THE ARTIST`S FAMILY LIFE IN THOSE LAST SIX YEARS AND HIS FRIENDSHIP WITH WILLIAM MORRIS.

Tom May is truly one of the most gifted and talented musicians of his time. His music has been an inspiration to many and he describes it best as "Music That Makes A Difference" really sums up his music. Anyone that is interested in his work, the world of folk music, or the process of promoting music should pick up a copy of this book and also any of his CD's (they are all amazing). Thanks for a great book Tom!

Every young psychotherapist should have to read Rollo May or some of the other existential humanistic therpapists. Homework assignments may change behavior but presence changes both the client and therapist!

Otto Rank's charismatic sanity
Helpful Votes: 7 out of 7 total.

This collection of talks given by psychologist Otto Rank in the U.S. is the best introduction to a major 20th century thinker. Less gifted as a writer than as a conversationalist, Rank has not won a large following with his other books, important as they are. His break with Freud put him on the psychoanalytic "enemies" list, but Rank's thinking anticipates much of what is now mainstream: here-and-now, relationship, will, creativity. Editor Robert Kramer has done a great job.

I had an opportunity to pick this book after a friend recommended it. All I say is that I got all that is worth and more. It is a book that you will want to read everyday because you can open any page and get the inspiration you want. After finishing this book, I realized how much I didnt know about myself. I rediscovered myself and had never felt like that before. I will buy a few copies and dish them out for friends and relatives.
The writer is serious and funny at the sametime. He takes you though the hoops of his life and you can really appreciate how the same can be applied to any of the situation any one of us may be experiencing. This is a real motivational book. I highly recommend it.

The Lady wore breeches

Review Date: 2001-04-06
Young lady Samantha Mayne had now desire to be a proper young lady. Let her cousin Emma dress in fashionable gowns, attend glittering balls, and hunt a mate in the marriage mart. Samantha preferred to aid her brother George's scientific experiments, wear breeches, ride horses astride, not sidesaddle, and be most wary of wedlock. Then Samantha met Lord Charles Laverstock. Lord Charles was more handsome, charming, and gallant than Samantha had ever imagined a man could be. Lord Charles also clearly could never be interested in a girl who broke every rule and scorned every feminine wile. For free-spirited Samantha, becoming a lady would be the hardest of possible tasks...
This is a really good read! I enjoyed much.
