Bacteria and mold may lurk in office carpets, the heating system, and other places causing allergy and asthma symptoms, while vapors emitted by furniture and equipment add other symptoms. Other books focus on the home; finally here's a book to focus on the place adults spend most of their daily lives, the office. From ventilation systems or the lack thereof to breeding grounds for germs, MY OFFICE IS KILLING ME! THE SICK BUILDING SURVIVAL GUIDE doesn't just help identify problems; it tells what to do about them.

Beautiful!

The most wonderful little book. It is easy to read, use, and follow with simple maps of the trails, as well as a locator map to find a trail within the state. Very well organized. The description of the trails include a little bit of history as well. I considered myself knowledgeable about the great outdoors in my area, until I got this book. It has opened my eyes to many beautiful marshlands, hikes, and waterfalls of New Jersey that I never knew about. I plan on doing all 40 walks/hikes (there is a nice mix of easy to challenging) by the end of the year. Everyone who lives in New Jersey should see these sites!

To those who think cognitive psychology is the end all and be all of psychological science, this book is must reading. Uttal is adept at pointing out many of the flaws in popular cognitive psych, such as all the lame computer metaphors that substitute any real understanding of the brain and what it does. The brain is NOT like a computer, at all, and such metaphors are not only empty but also misleading.

A fine visionary approach to archaeology

Review Date: 2003-10-19
May Castleberry's informed and informative text comprising New World's Old World is wonderfully enhanced for readers with exceptional black and white photos of ancient American cultures before the Spanish conquest. These archaeological sites have survived to be photographed in the 19th century and beyond: individual photos capture the pre-Columbian Native American monuments, their landscapes, and provide clues to ancient cultural customs. A fine visionary approach to archaeology and early Native American peoples.

Nietzsche's Ethics and his War on "Morality"

very well done

May could set a new standard in Nietzsche scholarship and writing. The book is quite lucid and clear, with numbered sections and subsections, and occasionally numbered paragraphs--like a work from Wittgenstein. The numbers facilitate recall and research as well as May's presentation.

The author holds, in short, that Nietzsche can only be at war with one strain of morality, not moral life per se, nor moral judgment, nor moral thought in toto. This is the strain that Nietzsche called 'the morality that would unself man.' It is variously said to be dacadence ethics, resentment ethics, ascetic morality, life-denying ethics and so on. May organizes the various remarks and sorts the kinds of ethics under discussion. He asks clear questions about the categories in question, and is anxious to point out that Nietzsche in no way rejects things ad hominem or via the genetic fallacy. He does not reject, say, a belief because it is born of envy, or resentment, or etc. His judgment is against only certain employments of resentment, and even against only certain functions life denial has come to fill. As such, May's Nietzsche practices a far more nuanced form of moral judgment than most authors have assigned him.

The final quarter of the work deals with the question of the value of truth, which is surely Nietzsche's most characteristic question. May's Nietzsche comes off as entirely resistant to postmodernist hubris over the surprisingly low value they assign to truth. Nietzsche assigns truth a very high value, especially for those who have responsibilities. Honesty, which Nietzsche calls the youngest of the virtues, is, of course, the characteristic modern cruelty, and a cruelty whose value Nietzsche promotes and whose presuppostion, truth, Nietzsche must also value.

May has done us all quite a favor by rendering certain contours of Nietzsche's moral thought so clearly. A must read for serious students.

Super Reader

The rebel attack, engineered by Stein and blasted through by Felice's massive metapsychic powers, has destroyed the old power structure of the Tanu. Many more of them died in the flood, and the operant, more fecund Firvulag now hold a decided advantage.

Aiken Drum steps into the breach to take the reins of power.

The opening of the book shows us a very important factor, how some of Marc Remillard's rebel faction managed to escape and come back in time. This was mostly covered up, and few know about it.

The new society calls for new alliances, including the deformed mutant Firvulag Howlers, humans, rebels and others.

There will be a new Grand Combat, now more a sporting event, as the Tanu can no longer afford the casualties.

As a culmination, Nodonn Battlemaster returns, having survived the flood, and challenges Aiken.

This is a great, comprehensive book, for your short stories, poems and plays. It includes the cannon syllabus and many lesser known works. The poetry section is particularly stong.

There are also many great techniques on writing essays, and apporaches to writing about the selections.

Great for college classrooms.

The ideas are lively and authoritatively conveyed.
Impressed with the lucidity of chapter 4 in particular. Author's discussion on physics and the role that mathematics plays in physics also high quality. Mind-bending and stimulating. If you like thinking about how it all comes together, especially from an information-oriented perspective, this book's worth adding to your collection.

A great graduation gift!

Review Date: 2004-12-17
Having read several post-college books and finding them depressing and/or overly pompous in their applications of general 'self-help' principles, this book was a breath of fresh air and exactly what the recent college graduate needs. Instead of boring them with psycological babble or elementary examples of growth (like 'buying a 'little dog'' to represent growth away from paterns we didn't think we would adopt) that insult their intelligence, 'Now may be a good time to panic' has created an environment where the typical self-help, post-college help (i.e. telling people what they want to hear) is not applied. Rather, Jon and Jon have established a book to lighten the atmosphere a bit and show college grads that everything changes and that nothing should be taken too seriously by using their unique blend of humor (more of a blend of Dave Berry, Steve Martin, and Douglas Adams).

My suggestion? Buy, read and enjoy!
