What an incredible, easy and VERY accurate method! I followed the simple and easy diagrams and information that was in the book and not only did I find Everything in my own hand accurately shown by the lines and marks, but I have now read tons of other peoples hands and they are amazed and surprised how accurately I have described them, their past, present and what lies ahead and so much more! I recommend anyone who is interested in this to definately check out this book....you won't be sorry! My son has learned it as well and he enjoys using this skill as well!

I've found myself a new hobby!

I have divided this book into three parts. Let's start at the beginning, where Myrna Lou's introduction to the art of palmistry began at the tender age of 10. An inquisitive child who, by pure chance, stumbled upon a book filled with sketches of a human hand, written in the early 1900's. What follows is a enchanting tale explaining how these fascinating images fired her enquiring mind. Over 40 years later, her desire to learn turned from an absorbing hobby to wealth of experience and profit.

Using an older method than the conventional way to `see', Myrna Lou will take you through each line/mark on your palms, fingers, thumbs and wrists. Explaining in detail where to find them and what they mean. I particularly liked the empty sketch of a hand, where you can copy your own lines. I tried this, a bit tricky when my primary hand is also the hand I write with! (I got a friend to do the copying, so problem solved!).

During the next section, you will learn everything from the basics -- what type of person a palmist is and what palmistry can do for you -- to easy to understand, detailed explanations about why the hands are the `mirror' of the soul, what a prophecy is and more! There's a chapter devoted to finding your soul mate, using a clever technique, the Soul Mate Pyramid. If this hooks you as much as it did me, you will be pleased to hear Ms.Goldbaum's 2nd book is dedicated to Soul Mate Connections, where her enlightening wisdom about matters of the heart, love and relationships are discussed in more detail.

The final section of May I See Your Hand? concludes with suggestions and tips for turning your own hobby of palm reading into profit, having fun at the same time! Myrna Lou includes useful insights from her life's own experiences, stretched over 40 years; sharing some intriguing palmistry stories that are motivating and encouraging. Let her guide you through the options available; discover the reasons for her success. This is a marvellous D-I-Y book on palmistry; you'll keep coming back to. This book has been well thought through, showing easy to understand examples, which even an experienced palmist will find useful.

Since reading and reviewing Myrna Lou's book, "Soul Mate Connections", I have heard her as a guest on two different radio shows - one featuring live readings - and have found her to be interesting and amazing.

Learning Oriental palm reading, and her life's passion, at the age of 10, Myrna Lou has read more than 33,000 palms in the past 55 years and divulges the secrets of the palm in "May I See Your Hand?", the book she uses to teach her students, now numbering over 3,000.

"The hand is a complex record, a mirror of our past, present and future existence...it reaches beyond personality and speaks to essential nature." Mrs. Goldbaum teaches that the art of palmistry can unlock secrets, allowing one to discover hidden talents and abilities and ultimately gain personal insights and growth.

Within the easily understood, illustrated pages of "May I See Your Hand? Palm Reading For Fun And Profit", the basic five lines - Life Line, Love Line, Work Line, Reproduction and Bracelets - are each discussed, as well as explanations of the more rare miscellaneous symbols likely to be found on a palm, such as The Island Symbol, X, Mystic Cross, Star Symbol, Teacher's Block, Allergy, Grilles, Stripes and others.

In addition to the palm, Myrna Lou gives attention to the entire hand with her study of finger and hand type, finger and hand shape and fingerprint analysis.

Myrna Lou, touted the love psychic and soul mate specialist, includes a chapter within "May I See Your Hand", called "Soul Mate", giving a diagram of where the Soul Mate symbol is to be found on the palm as well as defining and describing the true soul mate of another.

After a section explaining "How To Market Yourself" for those who wish to continue reading the palms of others, Myrna Lou shares 14 stories of her palm reading experiences, a tiny fraction within the many, colorful and sometimes famous clientele she has served.

"May I See Your Hand?" Palm Reading for Fun and Profit, written by Myrna Lou Goldbaum; is a fantastic book. This is the third book that I have read by this author and I enjoyed them all.

This book is well written with many photographs and the author has gone to great lengths to share her knowledge of palm reading. This book is an excellent book that tells the reader how they can do palm reading for fun or profit. If your club or organization is trying to come up with good fund raising projects this book will give you all the information you need to do palm reading as a fund raising project.

If you are interested in finding something you can do that is fun and interesting to increase your income and palm reading appeals to you then this will be an excellent book for you.

If you have no thoughts or interest in becoming a palm reader this is still an excellent, enjoyable book to read. I recommend this book highly.

This is a tasty morsel! This simple story can be a springboard for a child to open up about his/her feelings when experiencing a divorce. The clever illustrations make this a very appealing book. The fact that the author was a young boy makes the story work! I hope this book finds it's way into every school library and into the hands of children of divorce.

Pizza Heart is a great resource in helping children deal with the very real pain of divorce and separation. In our society, all too many children are touched by divorce. As a school counselor, I am always looking for new ways to reach out to kids who are struggling with its realities. Pizza Heart gives them a concrete way to express and share their feelings. A most welcome resource!!

Parents and counselors will find this book enormously helpful to share with children dealing with the pain of divorce in their lives. Each page could also serve as a conversation starter between adult and child. Most importantly this title is also positive in nature, suggesting ways to move forward while still dealing with emotions and fears. The illustrations are warm and inviting. Suited for both elementary and middle-school age children.

For anyone that has retired or is considering retirement, this book is right on time. Passion pours from every chapter as Phyllis May shares great tips and asks thought provoking questions. From the first word to the last chapter, "Refired - not Retired" was entertaining and informative with real life stories that I could relate to.

The first part of the book answers the questions - What is a reFIRED life? It's all about attitude and the possibilities are endless. There are great resources the help in the decision on when to retire, what to do in retirement and how to enjoy the REST of your life with ZEST. At the end of each chapter is a brief suggestion, such as "Plan ... but plan realistically."

In the second part, "The Curtain Rises! The Second Act Begins!", the subject of what's important in your day is conveyed in a light hearted and yet meaningful manner.

Throughout the book, Phyllis shares her personal experience and includes insights from a number of people she has met.

If you are thinking about how to plan for retirement, this book will help to set your life on fire after you retire.

Phyllis May in "ReFired Not Retired" suggests an attitude that will re-ignite your zest for life.

Phyllis asks some thought provoking questions. I found that by actually writing out my answers to these stimulating questions or making the suggested lists was personally very beneficial in getting me started on action steps to carry out my plans for a "ReFired Life."

In thirteen short, fast moving chapters Phyllis shares from her own life experiences as well as from others who have inspirational, motivational success stories that illustrate how to find meaning and purpose for the "rest of your life." The reader is encouraged to take risks, and embrace change. Expressive and direct in her approach Phyllis encourages the reader to face the reality and the promise of planning Life, Part II.

The cartoon illustrations included are priceless and triggered many deep hearty laughs for me. The section titled "Save the last laugh for Me!" had me laughing to the point where my eyes watered and I could no longer read the next hilarious quip, quote, or joke.

This is a book for midlifers to senior citizens. I highly recommend that you put this book on your "must read" list and follow up by putting it on your shelf to re-visit time and again for a thoroughly rewarding reading experience. I don't think my words have adequately described my enjoyment of Phyllis May's "ReFired not Retired."

This is a cute story about a frog name Mr. Jeremy Fisher, who have friends over for dinner and he figured, he should catch some minnows for the. While was fishing he has quite a bit of an adventure.

Another beautifully illustrated short story for children by Beatrix Potter. A good choice to read out loud to little kids during story time. I quite enjoy the short story and it's one of the stories a kid really got to have in their reading list as they are growing up.

I was given this book when I was ten, and it is now a favorite of my three year old. She especially loves that Mr. Jeremy's house is "slippy-sloppy" and that he likes getting his feet wet. The story is fun and funny, and Potter's use of language is intelligent. This is the kind of book that inspires children to be better speakers. Any children's writer who uses words like "disconsolately" is five stars to me!

Like so few of Potter's books, this one actually makes sense and lives up to its legend. The gags are still funny for starters and there are few, if any, arcane references to long gone trivia. The minor characters are even fun.
My own favorite thing about Jeremy Fisher is that he is eaten, then spit back out because his rain gear doesn't taste good to the fish who's swallowed him! How many books do you know where the main character is eaten? Good stuff.

This cute little book was written and illustrated by the great Beatrix Potter (1866-1943) in 1906, the eighth of her many wonderful stories. This book tells the tale of Mr. Jeremy Fisher, a frog who decides to go fishing for minnows, so that he can have his friends over for dinner. But, Mr. Fisher never anticipated the many problems his little fishing excursion would run into!

Overall, I found this to be a very cute story, and a lot of fun to read to my little one. Mr. Fisher's damp home is funny, as is his aplomb in facing his problems. This is a great book, that I highly recommend!

This is by far the best book for older siblings who are about to have a new baby in their house. Great pictures and wonderful text make it a fun read, and it really touches your heartstrings. Especially the part when the older sibling helps comfort the baby, I see it so much now between my two kids. I highly recommend this book to anyone is about to go from 1 to 2. My son still wants me to read it to him and his sister is almost a year and a half.

This book is adorable. I got it for my son when his little sister was born, and have gifted it to several friends when they have their seconds. The older child will relate to the little tiger and parents will laugh at all the descriptions ("Yuk! Take a look / it isn't cooked!..."), the illustrations wonderful and the ending is very sweet. For those wondering, it is not "technical" or "religious" as to where one comes from. Just a very sweet (and secular) conclusion to the question.

The main character in the story a cute tiger cub. He has just gotten a new baby in his house. He wants to know where it came from so he can take it back. He's upset by all the attention it gets. He also says all it does is cry, pee and poop, and spit up! He's had it with this baby. That is until one day when the baby is crying and he goes over to it to try and calm it down. The baby smiles at him and he starts to like the baby.

The pictures were fun to look at. The story moved at a fast pace as well.

We would recommend this book to families who are getting ready to have babies. This would make a great story to read and discuss with young children about the way they feel about having a new baby in the home.

Charming and Helpful Book on International Adoption

Review by Sherry North, Author, Because You Are My Baby

Waiting for May is an extremely well written look at the process of international adoption, from the point of view of a young boy who is getting a baby sister from China. I bought the book for my 4-year-old son, because we're in the process of adopting a child from Kazakhstan. Despite the difference in countries, so much of the process is the same.

The book discusses the social worker who comes for a home visit when the parents first apply to adopt, the mountains of paperwork, and the long wait to be matched with a child. It shows how the photo of the baby sister arrives on the computer, and just like my son, the main character gets shots for traveling to another country. Finally, the family travels to meet the little girl. The book doesn't shy away from the fact that she cries and cries before warming up to her new brother.

What I like best about the book is the brother's positive attitude. He is not fretting but instead is focused on how great it will be to have a sister. The illustration of the two hugging on the final page is just lovely.

Great for all international adoptions!

This book is wonderful at explaining the adoption process from a small child's perspective. My two boys smiled the whole way through it! Even though we are adopting a little girl from Russia and the book is about China, they could still relate to it. I think it helps them realize what we are doing, and what we are feeling, is normal and happens to other people too. It explains the process very well, in language they could understand. It also touches very sensitively the possible reasons why the little girl was an orphan. Overall, I found it very realistic and informative, with a touch of humor.

This book is just wonderful. It is a great preparation for any child who is waiting for a sibling to be adopted. It is a heart-warming story that talks about the adoption process, the waiting, and the emotions that go along with it, from a child's perspective. I love that the little boy can't wait to go to China and get his sister- many other books I have found on this topic show the waiting sibling with a jealous attitude towards the adoption. Jealousy is an important emotion to address, but many kids ARE very excited about adopting a sibling. This book is uplifting, sweet, and really gives a waiting sibling an idea of what to expect throughout the process of adoption. I highly recommend it!

Helpful for explaining adoption process to children.

My husband and I are in the process of completing paper work to get on a list to adopt a child from China. I happened upon this book at a bookstore and loved it immediately. We have already read it to our almost-3-year-old biological child to help explain the process of filling out paperwork and then waiting to hear about our new child. It has been a good way to introduce the topic of adoption. Our daughter asks for it often and has requested that we name our new child "May." :-) The pictures and story are simple enough to interest a very young child but have enough depth to interest a child in the early elementary grades (or even older).

I highly recommend this book to anyone waiting to adopt a child internationally (especially from China).

What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Diabetes is not necessarily an easy read. However, it is very interesting. I suppose we all know diet and exercise can help reduce the risk of diabetes. Do you really know how to alter your diet and exercise? That is where this book comes in.
Joyal explains that diabetes is a form of advanced aging. None of us want that. He goes on to explain what exactly causes this. The really interesting part of this book is the part about preparing foods. Slow cooking is actually the healthiest cooking. I am no longer feeling lazy about using my crockpot.
Anyone with diabetes or a predisposition for diabetes should read this. If you are married to someone who falls into this category, it may benefit you to read this, especially if you are in charge of preparing meals. This is a bit heavy on the science, but don not get bogged down. If you must, skip to the diet part.

What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Diabetes aptly portrays prediabetic states and diabetes itself as forms of accellerated aging. Although Doctor Joyal is tackling a complex disease process, his writing is easy to understand and his comprehensive approach to optimize metabolic health is entirely innovative. He emphasizes preventing glycation as a means to reverse the progression of prediabetic states and to reduce diabetes-related end organ damage. The multifaceted approach includes conventional medications but also proposes simple lifestyle modifications that have strong scientific support. The antiglycation eating plan includes specific recipes and preparation techniques. He explores the important and evolving role of natural supplements and presents time efficient programs for stress reduction and exercise. All too often physicians spout the vague mantra of "eat right and get more exercise". This book offers specific, practical, and attainable measures to counter the downward spiral of glycation in diabetes, and I recommend it highly to patients and physicians alike.

The life of an American founding father written in a style ideal for the young reader

While his primary claim to historical fame was his "Give my liberty or give me death" speech, Patrick Henry was also one of the most influential of the founding fathers of the United States. The governor of the then dominant state of Virginia during the American Revolution, his was a strong voice for the rebellion against King George and then against the constitution until the Bill of Rights was added.
This book, a member of the Weekly Reader series for children, sums up his life. Like many people who achieved greatness, his early life demonstrated none of what was to come. His greatness began to appear in a case he was arguing before the court, he won and was very impressive to all who were in attendance.
Patrick Henry is a figure from the past that all American school children should learn about. His influence was great and this book brings it all together in a style ideal for the young learner.

Jean Fritz makes history intersting for all ages. She has an uncanny way of seeing a historical figure as a real person with a well-rounded life that encapsulates more than just what he or she did in public. The life of her subject is of more importance than dates and events. Somehow this shift of emphasis makes the dates more memorable. She tells her story fresh, not told in the typical detached fashion. Her research and enthusiasm for her subjects make the stories come alive in interesting ways for today's student reader and interested adult.

Actually this book looks at where Patrick Henry was on a lot of 29ths of May

My assumption was that the answer to the question "Where Was Patrick Henry on the 29th of May?" would be on the floor of the House of Burgesses in Virginia, making his famous declaration, "give me liberty or give me death!" But that actually a speech at St. John's Church in Richmond, Virginia and the date was the 23rd of March in 1775. I am sure others who know a little something about Patrick Henry would make the same assumption. So the question for anybody reading this book really is "Where Was Patrick Henry on the 29th of May?"

The answer that Jean Fritz provides is that it depends because this book looks at several 29ths of May. The first is May 29, 1736 when Patrick Henry had just been born wand was likely crying in his bed drowning out the birdsong. The next May 29th comes in 1752, when Henry turns sixteen, when he was old enough to be counted among the men in Virginia. To be clear, Fritz does fill in the gaps between those two dates, and he does the same for the years leading up to the next May 29th, which comes in 1765, when he is indeed speaking on the floor of the House of Burgresses in Virginia. On May 29, 1777, he was elected for a second time as Virginia's governor, while in 1796 the 60-year-old Henry had retired from public life, three years before he died.

Henry was one of the leading opponents of the ratification of the Federal Constitution, but Fritz makes a point of turning his opposition into an argument for the adoption of the Bill of Rights. I must admit I was a disappointed a little because I thought this book would look only at Henry on a series of dates that were all the 29th of May, so I was actually surprised that all of the gaps got filled in along the way because it would be a neat idea to do an entire life looking at just one date that cover events both large and small. But even so, Fritz provides a nice mix of details that are both humorous and humanizing (Henry was a practical joker), along with insights about the Revolution.

This is one of several biographies that Fritz has written about major figures of the American Revolution, which include "And Then What Happened, Paul Revere?" and "Why Don't You Get a Horse, Sam Adams?" Both of those particular books were chosen as an Outstanding Book of the Year by the "New York Times," which is not surprising given Fritz's approach. Artist Margot Tomes provided the humorous drawings for not only this book but also for the aforementioned one on Paul Revere.

Where was I is a better question.

I just recently read this gem by Jean Fritz, my new favorite nonfiction author, not that thats all she does. This book tells of Patrick Henry, the untalented failure who manages to find a career as a GREAT lawyer.

Patrick Henry was a trickster as a child(example: he turns a canoe over with a group of unexpected friends inside it). As I said before, he wasn't very talented, except, well, he had a good voice. But could one use a good voice on a resume(even if resumes didnt exist then). No, someone couldn't. First he tried storekeeping, but found that didn't work. Then there was farming. But that didnt work either.I just realized that I havent told of Patrick's wedding. Yes, our hero was wedded to Ms. Sarah Sheldon. But then Henry tries the lawyer-ing biz, and it strangely works. Read about his most famous cases and his later gorverning career.

Though Margot Tomes isn't my favorite illustrator, I cant imagine anyone else illustrating this book

Fritz vs. Freedman. You decide.

An interesting twist on a children's biography of theRevolutionary War hero Patrick Henry. The device of the "29th ofMay" is used to tie the various parts of Henry's life together--from his childhood in the wilds of the Virginia countryside to his famous patriotic activities to his retirement at Red Hill. His failures as well as his successes are discussed, allowing children to see a more authentic character than many easy-read biographies. Notes from the author at the end of the book give more historical details.

Reading Dr Okey Onuzo's You may kiss the bride, I find his case studies of real life pre and post marital situations educating. The book highlights biblical injunctions and guides with simplicity in a way you can identify with. It takes you from getting prepared for marriage to making the right decisions while in marriage.

The incisive case studies about separation, divorce and remarriage leads you straight back to the very tenents of the bible bringing out scenarios of events happening today. It makes you want to ask, how in the world did he know what I am going through? For the counsellor, pastor and minister of God, you want to read this book.

I read the first edition of this book in 1994 when I was still single. Having to choose from the many suitors that came my way, was quite a problem. The Lord used this book to assist me to make up my mind. Looking back these five years, I can say with joy that the Lord had been good to me.

This second edition addressed many more questions than the first. The particular areas of separation, divorce and remarriage have proved a great blessing. I have several friends and family as well as members of my church group, with whom I have debated these questions in the past to no end. Some of these people are separated from their spouses. This very authoritative work with its precise and incisive Bible-based analysis, has ended several of these debates.

I have personally listened to Dr. Onuzo speak on marriage both formally and informally. I have no doubt that this book will prove a great blessing to many lives. I strongly recommend it to the singles, the married, the separated, the divorced and the confused. IT IS A TOOL IN THE HAND OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.
