This is a lavishly illustrated abridgement of Grant's wonderful "Personal Memoirs" and of Confederate Officer Armistead Long's "Memoirs of Robert E. Lee", two of the major works of the Civil War (Lee never did get around to writing his own memoirs).

While it must be stressed that this is an abridgement, and the actual volumes themselves are worth purchasing on their own, especially Grant's, the clear text and the extraordinary and realistic illustrations makes this volume a perfect gift for the Civil War buff this holiday season, or a worthy addition to one's own Civil War Library even if you already have the separate volumes - as I do.

A teacher friend gave me this book, and I love it! My family and I have discussed many of the issues raised in the text, not to mention plain old manners. I recommend this book to anyone concerned about a lack of civility in the United States.

This book is a must have for people who love classical music. Many of the best classical performances will never be transferred to CD, and LPs sound better anyway. This guide has an extensive list of catalog numbers, which will help you determine the recording dates of your records.

I don't usually write reviews on Amazon, but this book has been extremely useful to me and was deserving of a positive review. This is an excellent book for any climbing enthusiast to have. It is very well-written and the illustrations/photos are extremely clear and instructive. The book is comprehensive yet concise, and it is organized logically; it can be read straight through or easily used as a reference. The book details the large variety of climbs that are possible, from top-roping to sports/trad climbing, to aid climbing. Regardless of your ability, there's something to learn in here for everyone. Thanks in part to this book, I have a more complete picture of what climbing is all about, and I feel much more confident with my own climbing skills.

For those who were brought up on Munjoy Hill in the 40s, this is a must read. It will take you back a long way to some wonderful times growing up.

Finally, something about coaching that takes me under the surface cliches to a deep understanding of both practice and theory. While the book focuses on coaching, my understanding of a wide variety of other issues was enriched at the same time, including: systems thinking, the emotional underpinnings of roles and organizations, and the challenges facing organizations today.

This is definitely the best thing out on coaching. I especially liked the fact that each chapter recounted actual cases that illustrated the ideas beautifully. And while each author takes a somewhat different tack, there is an overall frame of reference that ties them together.

I recommend this book heartily for anyone interested either in coaching or in contemporary organizations.

This is a groundbreaking book - applying Cognitive Therapy to psychological treatment of chronic medical conditions such as diabetes, pain and cancer. It will be useful to therapists and students who work with the medically ill.
