I enjoy reading this book not only to my 18 month old son but for myself.
At the moment he doesn't always sit for the whole book as it is a little long sometimes for a board book.
I feel this book encourages imagine and is simple enough for a toddler to understand!

I think this is a fun story with a good message at the end. It's funny to see the creature the chameleon winds up being toward the end - before he decides to be himself. I'd put this on the list of recommended Carle books.

This text is an invaluable picture book for children learning how to read, how to enjoy reading and to learn about the joys and absurdities that life can bring. It is a humerous text that utilises excellent illustrations to represent the plot. The plot itself humerously intertwines fantasy with reality, ofcoarse it depends upon the child's imagination. A must for any child that enjoys playing with words and surreal ideas. The book's design is additionally unique in that is in an organisational folder style whereby children may select various imaginary creatures as they choose. I hope that others can share this wonderful picture book with all children they read to and/or with.

I absolutely love the Little Blessings books. Before I had a child of my own, I did a ton of babysitting for others. One little boy that I sat for had these books. I loved reading them to him. He really enjoyed these stories and better yet, they teach you about the Lord and what He's all about. They have ones that explain prayer, the cross, about God, about Jesus, about Heaven, and about Angels, etc. Not only do the kids learn, but you pick up things as well. All information in the book comes from verses in the Bible. The book answers many questions that you or your child may have concerning God or Jesus or how to pray. I bought almost everyone of these books to read to my son. I hope that he will be as enthusiastic as others were. Plus, they rhyme and what kid doesn't like rhyming books? It's a great way to spend quality time with your little one. I totally recommend purchasing these books.

Wonderful blessing.

My two year old loves this book, she loves the rhyming phrases and the cute pictures. It is a great way to introduce God to your little ones. We have read it so many times she can "read" it to herself now. She always asks for the "God Book" when we sit down to read. I can't wait to get the other ones.

What I enjoy about all of Kathleen Bostrom's little books for children is that they are wonderful on several levels. They're attractive for little children, filled with gentle answers to the tough questions kids ask, plus they have helpful sections in the back of each book to let parents know that the information they contain is Biblically sound.

Answered the questions my 4 1/2 year old asked before.

My 4 1/2 year old girl had questions about God that I could not find simple words to answer. This book had all the biblical answers in a simplified way. There are a couple of pages that I wasn't quiet comfortable with so I skip them. What I liked most is that at the end of the book it gave the biblical reference for all the given answers. I sure recommend this book for all kids.

'Above Los Angeles', another in Robert Cameron's birds eye views of major cities is, to me, surprisingly superior to his similar volume on his hometown of San Francisco. Since I much prefer SF to LA, I expected LA to be far less photogenic, but it comes of rather well overall. This may be due to the fact that so many of the LA landscapes familiar to us from TV mentions, but unseen for most of us, leaves us facinated to finally see, for example, Venice Beach close-up or the Hollywood Bowl, or Century City.

This is still not quite as good as the similar volume for Chicago ore even less good than the volume on London, or even as good as a competitor's work on Boston, but it is good, nonetheless, if only because it confirms my notion that LA is a sprawl with no center. The 'downtown' pic looks like a non-descript snap of outer Queens and not similar to Manhatten's financial district or midtown, to which it is comparable in function. Even the shorelines look more interesting than the similar scenes from the SF book.

An excellent souvenoir!

This book is a must have for all those who love L.A. natural and urban landscapes, but can't be there all the time to enjoy that. As the city has gigantic proportions, of course that not everything can be covered in the book, but at least what I consider to be the most attractive spots in the area is there. The paper is high-quality and the photographs are crystal-clear and well produced. Worth the money.

I just love these books by Cameron, he is just the most amazing talent. This book really captures L.A. and this is a city that begs to be photographed from the air because of all the wonderful buildings hidden behind huge fences and lush landscape. This is without question one of his best books, it really is a joy to look through. I have the older edition, but have seen the newer book and it only adds a few new pictures of buildings built since the book was first published in the early 90's; such as the Getty. I was expecting more new pictures, since the publisher makes big deal about it being revised, I even thought I might buy it if it was that different, but there are like five new pictures out of about 160 original and like I said before they where not even taken by Cameron. These pictures are well done, but are not by Cameron himself, he is alas over 90 and retired. Either printing is a five star book I assure you. I highly recommend all of his books they are all wonderful in their own way, but this truly is one of his best works.

5 stars........what else would you expect?

Los Angeles is a wonderful city so full of interesting things. This book has it all. All the areas are greatly photographed and look clear. LA's smog problem seems to be subsiding as the photos show clear days (most of them) and LA is only getting better. Every part of the city is showned. If you like photos from the air, you'll like this book. Also, the Library tower is shown (this is the first building to get blown up in the movie "Independence Day") in several photos. The older printings of this book didn't have them in it. I highly recommend this book.

Robert Cameron presents a place and its' character in this "above" book (as well as in the other ones). Some people fly over the Los Angeles area, gagging and shaking their heads. Mammoth highways, concrete, smog, track housing, and monster burbs. These qualities do exist. But Cameron's photos also allow you to see the different personalities and idiosyncrasies of the many communities that make up what we call Los Angeles, from the Southbay beaches to the hills. (Where LA begins and ends we're not always sure). The area of Los Angeles (like other places) is different from other major metropolitan American areas for a variety of reasons. For one, most of the topography is flat, and it's a coastal desert paved with transplants with ambition and liking for the sun. These pictures allow the City of Angels to be more intriguing and have more of its' personality exude itself, as the reader gets a closer look at it through these pictures.

Mental pictures.

Yes, there are those who state Los Angeles County is an area with few landmarks. First you've got have a good disposition to this place, and second you've got to get close. Cameron's shots provide plenty of pockets of beauty and character, and plenty of quintessential "LA" landmarks. One must close enough to observe and experience them. "Above Los Angeles" lets us. Photos that highlight the interesting and beautiful icons of this city's architecture and natural character.

Another book for LA-philes and those interested in its' history and growth is: "LA Lost & Found: An Architectural History of Los Angeles (California Architecture and Architects, No 21)." by Sam Hall Kaplan, and Julius Shulman (Photographer).

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. God has annoited this man for such a time as this. There are very few men especially preachers who will allow themselves to be transparent. Bishop Long "keeps it real." It's one thing to be able to preach a sermon but it's something totally different when you practice what you preach. I thank God for Elect Lady Vanessa Long. Her chapter in the book was refreshing. Today's first ladies really aren't interested in the people. It's about what you can do for them. I thank God for this man and woman of God.

Like every other book I have read by Bishop Long, The Elect Lady has enlightened me to the Truth. This book is an excellent choice for anyone who felt like their life was interrupted at some point. It caused me to look back at some dreams that I once had, but were interrupted. I thank God, however, that my dreams were interrupted. The outcome was/is better with His plan in action! The Elect Lady encourages readers to keep moving forward in what God has elected us to do no matter what obstacles show up. It reminds us that what God has for us is for our good and it is not to destroy us. I may not have done a great job writing a review on this book, but Bishop Long has done an excellent job writing this book in the Spirit of God. I have recommended this book to several people since I read it. I even purchased it for others as a gift:-) Go pick a copy of The Elect Lady today!

This book can be summed up with one theme: defer paying taxes for as long as possible. One excellent point that this book does define for you though is how to choose your beneficiaries in the best possible way. As a financial planner this has become one of the most popular questions that I am asked from people whom I meet. This book is a great guide towards answering those questions.

Every college student should be required to study this book carefully if they want to avoid all the common mistakes and money pitfalls that 98% of us fall into. I wish I had read this when I was in college... I would be $100,000 wealthier.

James Lange's Retire Secure, offers great techniques to help persons planning for retirement. He is on the right track - to postpone and minimize the impact of taxes - in order to maximize the retiree's money and extend the spendable income. This book makes a valuable contribution to the field of personal finance - for both the consumers and the professional advisors who serve them.

Retire Secure-Solid Advice For All

Review Date: 2006-10-20
Reading "Retire Secure" will not alone make you rich. However, if you read and follow Mr. Lange's advice, you will build wealth and then protect it to the fullest extent possible. The book outlines a very clear path to maximize savings using the most effective vehicle available to you. Then it goes on to provide a thorough roadmap to minimizing your tax consequences and maximizing your after tax returns. Finally the book provides several different strategies for passing along wealth to your heirs while once again factoring in the greedy hands of Uncle Sam. The author not only provides you with the theory, as many financial planners do, but backs up his recommendations with solid proofs and confirms them with amusing case studies. Overall this book is an excellent source for information on the use of retirement funds for wealth building and hopefully inheritance to pass on.

These guys to do not come across as thrill seekers but a couple of young men seeking high adventure. It is a fast, exciting read. It brings the Canyon and all it's glory to life.

Review Date: 2004-04-20
This account of a unique 1950's trip down the Grand Canyon is highly entertaining, especially because the whole thing seems like such a bad idea. Beers and his friend's equipment & preparation were laughable, and they had no escape plan or backup. But they plunge into the Colorado River (pre-Glen Canyon Dam, even), validate every stereotype about 50's American optimism/naivety, and somehow don't die. Beers' writing is not fancy, but the unaffected prose is well-matched to detailing the no-frills style of his incredible boatless river run.
I enjoyed this book a lot, and admired the author's courage at least as often as I laughed out loud at his actions.

I do like the way this book ties the individual scriptures into the book. It is nicely illustrated and has a sweet, loving message. Unfortunately, I have yet to find a book just right for helping my four year old daughter understand the death of her twin brother. I think I am looking for something more concrete and children's books about heaven tend to be pretty nebulous.

The first thing that struck me when I opened the cardboard box was the sheer volume of this slip-cased hardcover edition. It's a really thick book, even more so than the Absolute Hush I own.
The art is incredible, I already loved it in TPB, but in this larger issue it really comes into it's own. Batman is more menacing, and everything else is enhanced just enough to give it that little bit more.
I can advice this book to anyone who likes Batman, Jeph Loeb, Tim Sale or just good story-telling.

Loeb and Sale's Batman Masterpiece, this film noir tale builds and expounds on the core foundation of the Batman Mythos. While Miller's Year One Loeb's gangster mystery tales is weaved masterfully and keeps you guessing till the very end. Sale's breathtaking and romantic mastery of black is awe inspiring. Together, this tandem would re-write the book on the " maxi-series " . Their success lead them to bigger stages, but it is this book that put the defining stamp on their already impressive body of work.

The book is beautifully assembled, thick stock pages and crisp and bold color, it is a must have for any die hard Bat fan, a staple to any collection.

7 out of a possible 5 stars *******

Also, highly recommended, " Dark Victory " - can't wait for that Absolute version of that.

Absolute Batman - Long Halloween is an amazing hardcover set of a great Batman story. I really enjoyed the overall packaging of the book - it features oversized art, a beautiful cardboard book cover, and a ribbon placer. This graphic novel contains 13 issues and a decent amount of bonus materials. I found myself reading this 100+ page comic in one night because I was glued to it. I really enjoyed Tim Sale's art - it has a simplistic stylized look to it. One thing I didn't like about this is the fact that it is missing the entire 2nd half of the crime drama, Dark Victory, but it is a great story in its self. The story is a great crime drama / detective story. It really brings back Batman to his detective work that was present in earlier Batman comics. Overall I'd highly recommend Absolute Batman - Long Halloween to anyone looking for a great detective comic or anyone who is a fan of Batman.

Absolutely killer!

The first thing that struck me about the Absolute version of the Long Halloween was it's presentation; hardbound, oversized, page marker ribbon and full color housing all contribute to the first rate production value. Further examination will reveal a dense, twisty tale set against a classic film noir backdrop with a rich ensemble of the Batman peanut gallery. It has a bit of the pulpy feel one gets from Dashiell Hammett and due to the similarity in name I can't help to think of Ray Chandler, who is kinda like the Bushmills to Hammett's Jameson. The Long Halloween is not only well written but also nicely paced for it's near epic length, the gorgeous illustrations not only fit the story perfectly, they nailed down the ambience and the oversized pages really bring this out. If I had a couple more hands I'd give this four thumbs up.

My son just started Kindergarten about 3 months ago, he just turned six. I had taught him chess, and many other logical skills (I'm an engineer) but neglected to nurture his reading needs. After his first semester review I was shocked to find out that he was struggling with is site words. The day I got home from his school I ordered all the Bob's Books.

My son started reading them almost immediately, in fact on evening he read 12 of them back to back. He went to bed to night begging to read some more, he had already read 9 of them, he wants to read the WOW books and he's working through the A and B series first. He recogonizes his rapid reading skills and it's getting him really excited. It's amazing to see your child bouncing with excitement to get to read the next book.

It was stated in another review that your children won't learn on their own, but I disagree. My son rereads the books after we go through them. He even reads them to his four year old brother and he teaches him with the same skills that I used to teach him which makes him an even better reader.

Bottom line, my child learned to read multi-syllable words withing a week of receiving these books. I was very upset after leaving his first review at school, I felt like I had made a serious error in my kids education, these books turned it around. He came from being the worst reader in his class to the third best in just a couple of weeks, Amazing. BTW, these books help reinforce the site words used in the Kindergarten curriculum.

Jennifer has written an amazing book that has inspired change in how I handle and relate to money. It is a pleasant, inspiring method to really get a different look at finances. It is unlike any other book out there about money, thankfully! She also includes an interactive website with lots of help, be sure to check it out as well. You will love this read and all of her helpful advice, to put your finances in check and become a "Money Architect." I loved this book! Thank you Jennifer!

It amazes me that some people would prefer NOT to know their financial situation because they're so afraid of what they might discover. Jennifer Wilkov takes the young and/or naive by their hands and shows them that financial acumen is part of the bedrock of self-awareness, self-acceptance, self-respect and self-love.

In BACK TO THE GARDEN: Getting from Shadow to Joy, which has won five awards in spiritual, inspirational and non-fiction categories, I touch on the importance of financial awareness. DATING YOUR MONEY gives people a step-by-step to get there.

Like our relationships with people, the methods we use to build a strong financial future determine the outcome of our relationship with wealth. It all begins with a vision that says, "That is where I want to go." From vision comes desire which says, "I want that more than anything." Desire continues with discipline which asks, "What do I need to do to get there?" From discipline there must rise determination which says "I will make it no matter what." Finally comes the celebration of success. In human relationships dating ends up in a wedding celebration. The wedding ceremony is not just a celebration of the love of two people. It is a declaration of commitment to keep using the methods that got you where you are and to keep adding new ones to keep things alive.

Statistically, three out of every four women will end up alone and solely responsible for their finances. Death, divorce, desertion and an increasing number of women who choose not to marry mean that women MUST take responsibility for saving and investing. Women who are realists know that a relationship with money can last longer than a relationship with a spouse; men who truly love their women will want them to learn these tips...
My lectures for Australian Businesswomen's Network and Fernwood Women's Health Clubs reinforce Jenny's written information: sisters just HAVE to do it for themselves! :-)

"They say it is better to be poor and happy than rich and miserable, but how about a compromise like moderately rich and just moody." --Princess Diana

I expected Dating Your Money to contain fluff that a straight-forward CPA/Attorney like me would find a waste of time. I was wrong. The book contains a well thought out series of suggestions from an experienced Certified Finacial Planner that can help women gain control of their finances. I can attest to the emotional misery of many clients who could improve the quality of their lives if they were to read and embrace the ideas in Dating Your Money by Jennifer S. Wicov.
