As a patient of sacroiliac arthritis, this book is right on target. the whole book is for my need. it is a bit too technical to fully comprehend for a novice like myself, however now i know why and how my first three incompetent physical therapists had failed; i really have to thank Diane Lee for that matter. i have lent this book to my current physical therapist...this book really helps those who have pains in the pelvic girdle region.

An accurate and detailed review of all aspects of lumbosacral disorders from a biomechanical perspective. This book has challenged my practice. Please note, this topic is complex and I had to take a course in the Canadian approach to more fully appreciate this work. I have read the entire book once and several chapters 2-3 times and can still find new information. Well worth the money

I am a physiotherapist from Sydney. This textbook has enhanced my treatment of the pelvis. It covers the joints, muscles and motor control aspects of the pelvis in a systematic and practical way. I have also completed the course offered by Diane Lee "The Pelvis" and watched the DVD (2 disc version) which have also been well worth the money.

This book is for anyone who is prepared to spend the time learning how to treat this region effectively and comprehensively. I have earnt my my money back many times over by becoming more efficient in my diagnosis and treatment. I can also recommend her book on "The Thorax" - again, practice changing, practical information.

Thank you Diane Lee and LJ Lee for those wonderful texts.

Her and her dog find lots of other things to have fun with during the day and she even forgets that she is missing her shows eventually. Her dog gets attention and is happy and she has discovered a whole new world out there. Def buy it.

Glenn McCoy's animated and darling story of Peggy Lee and her dog Mr. Barkley. The problem is that Peggy Lee has a TV. She loves the TV so much she forgets about her best friend, Mr. Barkley. Sad Mr. Barkley loves Penny Lee, but NOT the TV. He does whatever he can to get her attention. But, Penny Lee keeps watching that TV. Then one day Penny Lee's wakes to find her TV screen black and broken. Is it a way Penny Lee must quit her TV watching cold turkey? This is Mr. Barkley's chance to help his best friend. On the way to the repair shop they find fun ways to play with each other. Mr. Barkley is so happy to get his friend back, to do fun stuff with. That night Penny Lee slept and had commercial free dreams.

This is a delightful story for children that teaches the lesson that there is more to life than just TV. If you have a couch potato junkie in your house give them this book to read. Reading is another fun activity that's more creative and educational. Glenn McCoy does an excellent job in telling this story that TV can take away your most important time to do other more important things. What's more important than being with your family and best friends? It's a great big, world out there NOT to enjoy it. McCoy uses his comic skills to create Penny Lee and Mr. Barkley. McCoy is the comic strip cartoonist for the famed 'The Duplex.' I'm sure the young one at home will find this one of their favorites. I just love children's books. This is one of my favorites!

As a 2nd year PhD student someone lent me this book so that I could acquaint myself with Social Psychology (which I had very little exposure to beforehand). I felt that I had a better grasp of social psychology after reading this book than I did after taking a year of PhD level courses. Ross & Nisbett effortlessly cover the foundational works of Social Psy in a way that is immediately accessible and compelling. This is one of two books that I recommend to incoming PhD students...

A very satisfying theoretical integration of social psychology research

Offered as "a slim guide ... to the heart and muscle" of the enterprise of social psychology, this volume provides the cummulative evidence of the field organized in terms of the basic principles it supports. This is an excellent introduction and review of the field of social psychology, its research and its applications. To really absorb the knowledge accumulated here into the functioning of our general culture would require a willingess by individuals, over and over again, to transcend normal ways of thinking in order to understand others, and especially differences with others, in a less self-centered manner than is usual.

Taking account of the importance of the situation

This book is a wonderful introduction to the importance of situational influences on our inferences and decisions. The coverage of examples is thorough and it is easy to see how each is relevent to the topic at hand. Written in a an imminently understandable and conversational style, this book is a pleasure to read. I particularly enjoyed the ways in which the authors demonstrated the types of faulty logic we all use when trying to use dispositional information to make predictions about the behaviour of ourselves and others. This book points out quite clearly that just because an approach appears to work in the real world, doesn't mean that the rational for using it is reasonable. An enjoyable and informative read!

Well structured ideas

Review Date: 2003-10-30
This book is amply recommended for anyone questioning the individualistic stance of human behavior. The ideas are well structured and motivate discussion. Essential reading for cognitive and AI researchers!

Some quotes:

"People sometimes construe the same object differently because they view it from different angles, rather than because they are fundamentally different people."

"Indeed, when we are confronted with behavior that seems to suggest exceptional personal attributes of any kind we tell ourselves to pause and consider the situation. What were the details of the immediate context of behavior? How was the situation construed by the actor? And what was the broader social context or social system within which the actors were functioning? More pointedly, what objective situational features or subjective construals, or tension system considerations would make these seemingly exceptional actions less exceptional, and more congruent with what experience has taught us about the way ordinary people (ourselves included) generally behave?"

This is a good book to read. It contain basic introduction to microwave integrated circuit such as Smith chart, S-parameter, impedance matching,
passive components and detail about tranceiver building block such as mixers, amplifiers, low noise amplifier, oscillator, etc. I think their are some part of this book duplicate with recent textbook of the same author.
This book do not contain any exercises and do not cover the architectures of transceiver. (e.g, the missing block between rf power amplifier and microstrip antenna or base station transmitter attenna)
Eventhough, I don't finish reading this book. I recommend this book can be benifited by customer!

With the photo of the IC die on the cover and the word Planer in the title I was concerned this would be focused on monolithic integrated circuits but it is not. Excellent coverage of the topic in a light writing style that does not avoid the technical details. A great piece of work Mr Lee.

Quirky, insightful, historical, very readable...

You have to like a book that is readable (almost conversational), gives historical insight (how 50&75ohm coax became the "standard"), at times is humorous ("But wait, 30 ohms(that gives optimal power handling) does not equal 50, even for relatively large values of 30.") but does not shy away from the some more advanced but interesting (at least to me) derivations of things like estimating fringing capacitance by use of a variational method. This is an excellent book to have fun with and read for insight as a first introduction to some RF topic or to gain further insight and perspective once you have some mastery of some topic, but the level is somewhat uneven, so that for many topics you may wind up having to use a more traditional, dry standard text like Ramo's Fields and Waves if you seriously need to design something. However, this is a great text in the sense that it is unique and so well-written and interesting that if it is around your desk, you will find yourself thumbing through it when you get bored of a task at the office just to learn something new to break up the day.

David Lee should be on every shelf in every library. His poetry is sit-down, read-straight-through, sigh-with-contentment stuff. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll be shocked and be enlightened, and the next time you go out for groceries you'll look with love on every character standing in line, especially at the rural Wal-Mart. In this plastic world, we need the reality of David Lee, and that means Pigs with Wings, Pigs that take you places, Pigs that go right to the heart of what makes us appreciate our own piggy, messy, beautiful selves.

Wonderful collection of poems!!

This book could single-handedly create a popular audience for poetry. Poets and non-poets alike will enjoy these poems. In these inter-connected poems, John, Dave, Jan, and Blackula toil into our hearts. You'll never forget the heartbreaking "For Jan, With Love," where Jan's "little hands" labor all night to save John's red sow. Meanwhile, poems like "The Chain Letter (An American Tragedy)" will have you and your friends in stitches (these poems are splendid read aloud).

I've often asked my college-level students to read this book, and it's never failed to please every student. Some students come to it reluctant to read about pigs in the dialect of a rural farmer, but Lee's humor and humanity wins everyone over.

David Clewell has said of David Lee, "He doesn't have time for small talk, he's too busy with real and vital things to say: he entertains us, enlightens us, makes us laugh and feel good laughing, makes us taste the sadness of our world."

If you buy one book of poetry in your life, buy this one.

It helps me to be specific in praying for my daughter and events in her life.

Mom is older now and every day I call her. She reads that days prayer to me before we hang up the phone. After she reads it I say "back at you Mom, I love you". It is good. She appreciates the scriptural reference to the promises that God has made to us according to His Word. Everyday brings us closer.

My wife and I used Praying God's Will For My Daughter to help us pray for our adopted children even before they came to the US. It helped us bless them and increased our bonding with them.

One of our favorite prayers was "We pray that neither death nor life, nor angels or principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate our daughter from the love of you God, which is in Christ Jesus, her Lord." There are very, very few books on starting and operating a for-profit child care business (believe me, I have looked!). This one is a gem; very well written by a person who has been there. I am not an expert on Hawaiian culture, but the story was entertaining and it discussed many things we experienced during our trip to Hawaii, for example, volcanoes, surfing, seafood, and more. It also has a glossary of common Hawaiian words which were a lot of fun to learn. I highly recommend it for any child who is interested in learning more about different cultures or stories from other lands.

I read this book in highschool while living in in Seoul, Korea. I am a Korean-American woman and I found the information in this book to be _invaluable_. Unlike similar historical works such as John Okada's 'No-No Boy' or Sui Sin Far's 'Mrs. Spring Fragrance and Other Writings', this is pure autobiography (or ethnobiography if you want to be technical). I cannot believe how lucky we are as Americans to get a first-hand account of a Korean-American living in turn of the century America, when there were literally only a handful living in the country at the time. The 'memoirs' are not only highly satisfying in themselves, they serve as anchors to the past in which to begin tracing a discernable branch of Asian-American history. Adds perspective in which to view today's world of American race relations. I think this is necessary reading for anyone who is interested in race, American society, and/or history. Will also appeal to minority activists.

I was assigned Quiet Odyssey for an Asian American studies class, and I was riveted by the clean, simple prose. But the story is far from simple, I admire Mary Paik Lee for her incredible endurance and courage. As a second generation Asian American, my family's roots in the United States are relatively new, but now I realize, that it has been due to Asian Americans like Mary Paik Lee that allow me to lead and pursue the life I wish. Not only is Quiet Odyssey the story of her life, it is also the story of California. It's eye opening to see how much Los Angeles and the rest of California have changed since she first landed here. And lastly, Mary Paik Lee has some incredible spunk to do and say some of the things she did. Impressive.

Written by David K. Butler, Sr., former Chief of Police for the New York, Susquehanna and Western Railway, Railroaded in Cooperstown is the true story of the author's quest for social justice and responsibility in the village of Cooperstown, New York. When Butler investigated a double fatality train accident, he uncovered corruption and incompetence leading to needless deaths, yet was stymied at every turn by greedy and bureaucratic interests as he struggled to defend the public. Railroaded in Cooperstown is as much a cautionary tale about the mire of politics and power as it is a defiant saga of human determination to do what is right, and is a singularly compelling read from first page to last.
