This is an excellent reference text to quite a tough section on network synthesis. Many authors will confuse you while presenting material on active filter design. However, Huelsman assumes very little and so the text is written in a logical manner that not only appeals but also reveals what other books hide from view.

A wonderful compendium of the greatest his in the fascinating world of visual persception

Published in 1974, playwright Jerome Lawrence's biography of famed American actor/star Paul Muni has been hailed as 'The greatest theatre biography of the [20th] century', and rightly so. This exceptional book recounts Muni's whole life, from his childhood travelling with his parents Yiddish theatre company to his declining years and failing health. The vividness of Lawrence's accounts of Muni's life are due to the fact that Lawrence knew Muni well (Muni's most successful Broadway play was 'Inherit the Wind', co-authored by Lawrence) and most of the information is first hand. After muni's death in 1967 his widow Bella (with the encouragment of Lawrence) began a book on her husband's life to be entitled 'The Men I have Lived With'. But the book was never finished as Bella died in 1971 so Lawrence took what had been written and wrote his own account of Muni's life. Some of Bella's original passages have been included - most notably the story of how she met and married Muni. Lawrence also recounts the history of the Yiddish theatre, the story behind the making of the classic 'Scarface' and Muni's obsessive 4 year search for the story of Alfred Nobel. Lawrence interviewed many of theatre and Hollywood's greats for the book including Luther Adler, George Abbott, Howard Hawks and Bette Davis (a complete transcript of her interview is included in the closing chapters). A fascinating and compelling read about a man who ultimatley didn't know what else to but act.

This book provided a fun way to get my daughter interested in doing extra math practice. The math problems provide clues for a puzzle to cut out and paste.

Elsa Auerbach is the leading practitioner in the U.S. of the theories of Brazilian educator Paolo Freire. In this book she discusses an adult ESL/Literacy project in Boston that involved training immigrants, who had themselves learned English, to become tutors. According to Auerbach, and Freire, the goal of literacy education is more than just teaching students to read and write. Students must be empowered to control their own learning process and the direction of their lives. Only then can they become full participants in their community and in society. Auerbach is always inspiring.

If you enjoyed and found this book interesting and useful, you might like "The Healing Journey Through Retirement" by Phil Rich, Dorothy Sampson, and Dale Fetherling. It deals with similar issues of life style, relationships, and meaning after retirement and uses a journal writing approach to the subject.

My 12 year old son and I both read and enjoyed this book very much. It is extremely difficult to find non-denominational spiritual books for kids, and even harder to find good example books for boys. This is both. Also, unlike myself, my son does not enjoy reading very much, he is very active, but this book held his interest. Harry Fruitgarden is a 6th grader who is a thinker, a very curious boy. We follow Harry through every day, realistic, school boy adventures. Each one very subtly unfolds a lesson or a prompting to think about life in a bigger picture. Don't get me wrong, Harry makes mistakes, his character is not some overly fake positive angel, he is a very realistic kid. The first chapter opens with a hilarious escapade of cat & mouse chase with the yard duty when Harry's curiosity led him off the school grounds at lunchtime. This of course lands him in the principle's office. But Harry is smart, and manipulates the situation to his favor and pushes the limits even more (I won't give it away). But parent's don't fret, there are excellent underlying messages, I honestly even noticed a difference in my son's reactions (for the positive) with different situations, that I know were due to reading this book. It definitely opened up his thinking & pondering realm even more..for the better. Where are the others? It's supposed to be a series?!!!
