Personal trainer in a box: it works!Review Date: 1999-10-19
Under this plan, any exercise counts -- from scrubbing floors to Tae-Bo to sailing -- because you rate the effort yourself according to an easy-to-use scale (no heart-rate monitoring). The main point is to choose something you enjoy, the reasoning being that you'll be more likely to stick with it that way. I get my points mostly from walking, stationary cycling, and a strength-training video workout, but I can just as easily figure out my effort for the occasional day of hiking or swimming in the ocean. Even if you don't keep track of your points, you can still use the general principles to pace yourself. The result for me was that I didn't burn out the way I had on other plans, because I was doing exactly the right amount of exercise, and I started noticing the benefits right away. I'd like to thank the author: L.E.A.P. is quite an achievement.

Oz-some book!Review Date: 2005-07-21
This book is a 7 course meal for the eyes and mind! You will love the photographs of the rare Oz treasures, which are organized by decade.
This book is one of my favorite Oz reference books! John Fricke is truly the leading Oz expert!!
The best pictorial of "Oz" past and presentReview Date: 2000-10-17
From the opening pages of this book to the last, the book is a compelling journey through Oz. The collection of Mr. Carroll's Oz memorabilia is so large that it is like trying to comprehend the distance between stars or that a few people actually have a billion dollars. This colligation of Oz collectibles somehow unites every civilization, geographic location, and human condition. It is one of the few things that have true universality.
After reading John Fricke's take on Oz, of course, based on Willard Carroll's collection, I am left wondering how history would be different were it not for Frank Baum's Oz?
The pictures are glorious, the layout intelligent and thoughtful-I will never see Oz in quite the same way again. John Fricke's writing is stellar. Willard Carroll's collection ---what can I say, WOW! 100 years of Oz is entertaining, educative and provides a new look at Frank Baum's Oz through the other end of the spyglass. This is a visit to a museum with a very knowledgeable guide through an unforgettable exhibit. Thanks for the tour. I'll be back again.
This book is a must for all collectors.

Now THIS has EVERYTHING to do with 'Oz'!Review Date: 2005-05-26
The Chapters of this book go by 10 Years (e.g. 1900's, 1910's, 1930's, 1940's, 1980's, 1990's, 2000's, etc.).
This was a pleasant surprise to find on a bookshelf (along with many other Oz books) and it was an absolute pleasure for me to buy it.
Also, what you see is a slip-on cover. The actual front cover is (an Italian poster of MGM's) Dorothy looking at the Crystal Ball and seeing the Wicked Witch of the West flying on her broomstick.
Trust me, get this book, and you'll love it - maybe even more than "All Things Oz"!

I like this book because I feel it is very important for all teachers, whether or not they are mentors or beginners, to remember what it is like to be a new teacher. I think that everyone can benefit from being reminded how to act appropriately with their students and their fellow teachers. The tips presented in the book are easily accessible and easily implemented.
I have also had the pleasure of hearing Ms. Breaux speak and was very impressed. She speaks like she writes!

Man Shall Not Live By Bread AloneReview Date: 2004-12-09
After attending an International Book Convention, she decided to write a book filled with original spiritual interpretations and quotes from the King James Version.
Not only does it seem rare to find books that quote the King James Version, it is even more rare to find books focusing on the words of Christ. I have looked in bookstores and online and they do seem more difficult to find in the King James Version, a personal favorite.
What does it mean not to live by bread alone? This famous quote by Jesus has a much deeper meaning. Gail shows how Jesus was on earth to teach mankind about the invisible, unchanging inner being. This being has to be fed spiritual truths just as our bodies need food.
Each day has one verse and a unique explanation. At times Gail comes up with answers that make complete sense. Her After Dinner Mint: "...I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me" John 14:6. She then goes on to write a "Note From the Author" in which she explores this in more depth. She also discusses Free Will, Crime, her definition of Evil, Kingdom of heaven and Wine. A short glossary is also included.
Perfect for anyone seeking to learn more about the Teachings of Jesus.

From Her Heart!Review Date: 2004-12-15
This work is well written, and I feel the author has a deep love for God and Jesus, but I cannot agree with her interpretations of the Scriptures in her work, so that did become a hindrance to my enjoyment of the book. Although I would lke to say, I feel her commitment to what she believes is truly from her heart.
On the back cover it is written, " This may not be a diet book for the die-hard, steadfast Christian follower," and I believe I am in that category. Although I sense a a strong desire to reach out and help others through her writings; I did not feel this book was beneficial to me. However, I am sure to others, it may be just what they are looking.

An Wonderful Blend from a Promising New AuthorReview Date: 2005-07-06
I could not put it down for a moment. It kept you on the edge of your seat, yet at the sametime was also enlightening. It took a rather unique perspective on the psychic angle, but did it well. It stirred about every emotion possible and the banter between characters was hilarious. I won't spoil anything for those who haven't read it, but to those who have, You've got to love Donnie's creativity. How could anyone say no to that?
An excellent book by far, and I hope the rest of the series are just as good. Wanda Dyson has the potential to take this somewhere great.

If there is a weakness in Abduction, it is that Ms. Dyson presents too many issues which necessitates a few too many sub-plots. Sometimes the constant switching between story lines made for an anxious read.
Regardless, I enjoyed Abduction tremendously and would recommend it to anyone who would enjoy a wholesome thriller!

Activate Your TrainingReview Date: 2006-10-07
Everybody loves being involved, talking, interacting, and exploring during training. Lecture, however, is too often the default methodology. In some ways lecture takes less time to prepare and is less risky, but is it more effective learning? In this day and age, linear, slow, from-up-front training just isn't effective. Instead, shift over to active training that engages and empowers participants to learn rather than be taught. I'm reminded of Winston Churchill when he said, "I am always ready to learn although I do not always like being taught."
Silberman gives idea after idea of how to spice up lectures, or better yet, replace them with other a dozen other learning methods that actively involve the participant. The 100+ exercises and examples in Active Training makes it easy to incorporate non-cheesy learning activities that really work.
Wake up your participants! Get active.

One of a kind bookReview Date: 2005-08-12
This story loses much of its charm in a summary. The best part of the story is the idioms it uses. Agatha is a spinner and a storyteller: "She can spin a yarn better than anyone I know". That quote is just one of the many examples of the common phrases that take on a new meaning when talking to geese. That is what makes this book so special. Other than that, the story is told well; it flows nicely and is easy to read out loud.
The illustrations are beautiful, but different. They abound with detail, and on each page is a box with a picture of a raw material, and what it is made into. (Cotton boll, cotton. Dinosaurs, fossil fuel.) The pictures are very expressive, very detailed, beautiful, and fun. A great story.

A great story with colorful pictures!Review Date: 2004-11-28
This version of the book is hardback and VERY colorful, which I really enjoyed, and it is a book from the Illustrated Junior Library Editions. It comes with a plastic covering to protect the book. This book along with Anne of Green Gables would be a great book for any young girl, and can be passed down to the next generation.

THE MAIN OUTLINE
Anne is a poor orphan girl who has been treated badly by all the people who she has stayed with. However, she has an unquenchable imagination, which keeps working wherever she is. Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert(brother and sister) adopt Anne and the adventures start from there.............
MY FAVOURITE PARTS
One of my favourite parts in the book is when Anne tentatively shows her hair, which she attempted to dye black but ended up green, to Marilla.
