Like most people that lived through the JFK assassination I can remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when I heard the news of his death like time stoped. I never believed what the United States government passed off as factual rationale, for the cause of this tragedy. The Warren Commission report did not make sense. I read it in the 1965 and could sense that something was not right. A friend of mine recommended this book to me she knew I was like a majority of people alive, thinking that we would go to our grave not knowing what really happened to JFK. It was her husband a career law enforcement official that convinced me to read this story; it was the best documentation surrounding the crime he claimed. Mr. Hemingway takes you on a trek that only he and JFK traveled while presenting new facts that I have never heard and would have never thought of. I would have never imagined that murdering someone over a political mistake could have caused the turmoil it did. So much of the story sounds like what is going in the United States today, it borders on surreal. The book made me livid. When I was finished; there was a lot of corruption exposed. Truly I can accept this research as fact and this gives me a sense of closure to this grave incident in United States history. Some minor editing changes could be made but it did not overshadow the ground breaking content and earthshaking ideas made this incredible.

It is becoming more and more clear that the US Government has not be honest with the masses. This book helps the reader draw a FACTUAL conclusion of what the US Government has been up to using strong and organized evidence. While the first edition has some typographical errors, it remains that Hemingway delivers a strong case.

This book reveals a highly plausible theory as to why JFK was eliminated. It is a fascinating theory full of detail and research on why JFK was killed. A must read for anyone who doubted the Warren Commission findings. This book belongs in our Universities and all JFK buffs' collections.

This is not the best book about JFK I have ever read, but it is up there. I like the pictures on pages 16 (all) 20, 173, 192-199, 268-275, and 242-258. This book is recommended for any Kennedy fan of all ages.

This is a great picture book. I have almost every Kennedy family picture book available. I just happen to come across it in a bookstore near my home. I paid $19.99 for it, pretty good price. You can get here for about $16-17 but remember you have to pay shipping. So it comes out to more but it is soo worth it. When you are going through these pics its like being taken back in time. I'm pretty young my mom was born in 1957 so she was about Caroline's age when these pics were taken.

"John Fitzgerald Kennedy:A Life in Pictures"is a great way to remember President Kennedy.I'm a young, strong admirer of President Kennedy, and not only are there great pictures of Kennedy, there is a biography of Kennedy with speeches he made, including the speech he was going to make on November 22,1963.The best pictures are of Kennedy with Herbert Hoover and a picture of Jack Kennedy with his daughter Caroline and his niece Maria Shriver.I have seen a bunch of great Kennedy photos, and if you ever want the best Kennedy photo, buy Robert Stack's autobiography "Straight Shooting"and see the picture of Stack and Kennedy. "John Fitzgerald Kennedy:A Life In Pictures"is a must read for all Kennedy fans and even all non-Kennedy fans.

I highly recommend this book, primarily for the great picutures of JFK. This 40th anniversary volume succeeds in presenting many rare and never-before-seen photos. I especially like the ones depicting Secret Service agent Gerald Blaine on the rear of the limousine in Italy 7/63. Get this!

This collection of over 300 pages of the usual suspected photographs, as well as many unseen or rare ones, was published to commemorate the passing of 40 years since our 35th President was vicously cut down in his prime.

The layout of the photographs is great. You see JFK throughout his life, from childhood, to Presidencey and every passing moment between. The photos are powerful, moving, show glamour and fun, you see a politician throughout his political career, you see a loving father, son, brother and husband. I have had quite a few photo books on JFk, but this is by far the best and most desirable one I have seen.

This photograph book would make a wonderful and truly appriciated gift for anyone who has any respect, love or interest in JFK. My sister is a huge JFK fan, she had a bust of him on our dresser growing up.

The price on Amazon, is as always, unbeatable. I saw this at a bookstore tonight for the full price.

As a medical research scientist, I can say beyond a doubt that a flu pandemic is brewing that may change modern civilization in ways that will go beyond our wildest imagination soon. Physicians are observing the creation of a super strain of the avian influenza virus, H5N1, so-called bird flu, that has the potential to kill millions of men, women, and children in every nation. According to the World Health Organization, the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a recipe for disaster is clearly in the early genetic-mixing stage. We stand on the abyss of a global wildfire event that will start with the flick of a "viral" matchstick, burn everything in its path, leaving civil disorder and misery in its aftermath on an unprecedented-scale. But what can we do other than prepare ourselves for the inevitable death of our society as we know it? Other than prudent safety precautions, we can also boost our immune systems psychologically against the true number one killer: s-t-r-e-s-s.

Just look at what happened to millions of people impacted by natural disasters in the past year alone from earthquakes, hurricanes, and tsunamis worldwide: They are suffering from PTSD--Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Guess what stress does to your ability to fight bacterial and viral infections? Do you know that when a pandemic strikes within 30-days 100% of the population will be exposed to the virus, but that only 50% will get ill? Did you know that a pandemic comes in 3 phases with the second being the most deadly? Did you know that the most susceptible age group when the virus "hits" is not the young or the old, but the tender-age group 20 to 30? In plain terms, this book will give you the rest of the story; how nature ensures the "survival of the smartest!" Indeed information is power and it will make the difference between life and death in the coming pandemics!

So get smart and raise your I.Q.: "immunity quotient!"

Dr. John Jay Harper is executive director of the not-for-profit, American Delphi Academy, Spokane, Washington, author of Tranceformers: Shamans of the 21st Century, and a bird flu report website at johnjayharper.com

David Kennedy believes that government health officials and the medical community at large are in the hip pocket of big drug companies. This conspiracy has caused important, effective, powerful remedies, like vitamin C, to go unnoticed and unsupported. History will tell whether he is right about that.

What may be more important is that Kennedy and others believe Vitamin C can prevent and treat the avian flu. If this is true, Vitamin C can provide an inexpensive, powerful, effective treatment for a lethal virus.

It now seems clear to every serious-minded person that the Asian Bird Flu is going to attack, the only question is when. When the epidemic strikes, it will be deadly and fast. According to Kennedy, mega-doses of Vitamin C will be effective in protecting people against the flu. For those that have it, he believes that mega-doses of Vitamin C, administered intrvenously, may save many lives.

This book is mostly about the curative effects of Vitamin C. Based on studies and reports of it curing polio, cancer, and other deadly conditions, Kennedy, Linus Pauling, and others state that the health benefits of it are dramatically understated and even unknown.

I don't know if Kennedy is right about the pharamaceutical industry, time will tell. If he is right about Vitamin C and the bird flu, our family will be protected by an inexpensive, easily-available remedy. If he is wrong, we will have taken a lot of Vitamin C.

The highest potentcy in tablet form I am able to find are on amazon.com at 2000MG. Forget Tamiflu and pass the orange juice.

I was a little disappointed that the information in the book, I already had most of in my head, due to the fact that I'm a Linus Pauling fan when it comes to nutrition. However, if you don't already know what I'm talking about, then this book is very important to you because it offers you the opportunity to embark upon a personal oddyssey beginning with a most critical, ubiquitous nutrient your body is not capable of producing, due to genetic damage that everybody has. You need this book.

To Mr. Doubting Thomas... why don't you just read the book and then weigh in. That's part of the problem with Americans and this country's sick-care system... too close-minded. Americans take what health officials tell them as gospel and fail to seek out truth and knowledge for themselves. I received this book Saturday and read through it carefully. I found it to be a valuable read. Knowledge that serves good.

If you are interested in American history, this is it! Highly detailed, consist of short pieces, which can be read as stand alone articles. You need not read in sequence. Morison ensures that each section is understood by a lay reader. Sheds light on historical events at sociological angle. You will understand what and why people did throughout decades. What they were thinking, and why.

There are some minor factual errors here and there, and some setions may have been written different. Anyway, extremely good reference book.

Each student should have this book!

The first volume of this three volume set is exceptional. The breadth of this work is substantial. In fact there is so much ground covered in this work that many truly momentous events are covered in what seems a very short number of pages. Most of us think that the history of the US goes something like "The pilgrims wrote the Mayflower Compact, jumped off the boat, ate thanksgiving turkey, hung some witches, dumped some tea and declared independence." Morison does a fabulous job of filling in the spaces. Morison's style is very engaging as well. It is interesting to note that this volume was published in the 60's so there are frequent mention's of communists themes and when the author mentions native Americans he means people that were born in this country even if they had ancestors from England or other European countries. Highly recommended.

This is great product for self improvement in any areas of your life. You can improve your speech, your relationship, make more money, start your business or at least start to live happier life! The price is absolutely no issue compare to what you will get. I did know a lot on this subject. Psycho-cybernetics helped me put all the scattered pieces together and even more. I started to smile more and now I wake up with a smile each and every day.
This will not solve your problems in a day or pay your bills but it will show you the way which can lead you to just that. And if you add believing in God you are all set. At the end you will understand that faith is actually the ultimate answer to everything.

Review Date: 2004-10-25
The terrorist attack on September 11, 2001 may have destroyed Jacques Lowe's negatives of the Kennedy family, but not the photographs or the brilliance evident in the camera capturing this shining light that once was Camelot. On the fortieth anniversary of the assassination, which is astutely, not for the first time, linked with September 11, 2001 as a turning point and a loss of innocence in our country's history, the magic of the Kennedys portrayed through Jacques Lowe's wise, perceptive lens makes us mourn for all we've lost.

Modern pundits and social critics might decry our fascination with the Kennedys, but their influence is felt strongly, especially now in Maria Shriver and hubby Ah-nold, a fierce Republican but a believer in the service to God and country that JFK practiced. You can't ignore Jack and Jackie keeping company with Premier Nikita Khrushchev, or Kennedy shaking hands with coal miners. Lowe's close-ups of the miners illuminate the dignity and strength of these men.

The Kennedys romp through a time of change in social, personal and political home movies. Particularly striking are the unguarded JFK moments, such as the photo of JFK thinking with a cigar (no Clinton jokes, please), or the sequence and closeup illustrating Kennedy's distress over hearing of Prime minister of Congo Patrice Lumumba's murder. We see the Kennedys, and they are us, with the added weight of John-John's salute. The intimacy lends more depth of history to this important, moving book.

What a surprise when I found this book.To think that after 40 years a refreshing new book on President Kennedy could still be published. All the photos were taken by Jacques Lowe, who was essentially the Kennedy family photographer. His photos show the personal and human side of Kennedy and the Kennedy family as well as the people who were close to the family.
Once JFK became President, things changed drastically, and we no longer saw the same kind of photos Lowe gave us.It is a shame that Lowe did not continue on as the family photographer and hence continue with the personal glimpses he gave us.This book also has many photos which were not previously published, which show the real emotions of the people involved. Also surprising is how good the text is that accompanies the photos.
Of the many Kennedy books I own or have seen, none is better or more personal and character revealing ,than this one.
One can only imagine what a treasure trove went up in smoke when all of Lowe's negatives were lost in the World Trade Towers destruction on 9/11.
This is a large, heavy, well printed and bound book using top quality paper;a little expensive, but worth every penny.

The Savvy Guide to Motorcycles is a well-written narrative by an author that has real-life experience riding motorcycles. Shirley Kennedy relates much of her material to her own experiences, giving this book a personal touch as well as believability.
The book is broken into logical sections and well illustrated. The author includes a number of sidebars with data that supports her text. There is a useful glossary and an impressive bibliography included to enhance the reader's understanding of the subject. The layout is clean and well structured.
As a motorcyclist with several years experience I appreciated the way the book advances each theme. Ms. Kennedy avoids boring the experienced rider while structuring her material so a new motorcyclist can understand it easily.
I highly recommend "The Savvy Guide to Motorcycles" to anyone that rides (or wishes to ride) motorcycles!

Uncle Jerry & Uncle David unpack their guitar & banjo, sit down in front of the fire & make music. Your rug rats are in for a fine treat as these fine musicians accompany Uncle Bruce's picture story. Long, long ago when this editor was little the radio was her speaker to the world. There were programs for women & children dotted throughout the day on the BBC station & one in particular for the very young, in which could be heard such charming duets as Run Rabbit Run & The Teddy Bears' Picnic. I loved the mellow fellows who sang this charming song. I had not heard this melody in all those years when the book & attached audiotape caught my eye amid a chorus of bear calls & growls, demanding I listen. I never argue with Teddy Bears, especially when they're singing!...

After about 20 pages I was hooked. Definitely a page turner and delightful to read. Suprises too! The characters are so lively and funny yet still realistic. My favorite character by far was Lauryn. I loved the detailed descriptions of the characters' lives, down to the brands of clothing they chose. The questions interspersed throughout the story were interesting and thought-provoking, especially for me (a 30 year-old woman.) All-in-all, a yummy book that caused me both to laugh and get teary!

This is a book for "baby boomers," too. In spite of having at least 2o years on all of the characters, I found the characters'
lives so compelling that I could not put the book down once I started it. It also left me remembering and replaying my 30's.
I want this to be a TV series, so I can continue to follow the lives of Lauryn and her friends...the book was so visual that a
screenplay seems like the next step.

I had no trouble reading this book, I couldn't put it down actually except when pondering the questions it makes you think about. Wow, every woman alive should read this so they see how well we relate whether it is a friend, sister, girlfriend, mother, as we are all women struggling to make it in this world, and it helps when you have good friends who care. This book respresents a good portion of those struggles and I loved every single word down to the letter... A +++

This book speaks, on so many levels, to women who have ever faced an identity crisis of any kind (namely all of us). A must read for any girl with troubles. A big thank you to Lane Kennedy for being inspired and driven to write this monumental piece of work.

Thank you Lane Kennedy for writing a book that is so inspiring and so 'Sex in the City'. I feel like you were writing about me and my friends, in fact looking in my window!;) That to me is a GREAT book....one that I can truly bond with and relate to and where I feel and understand the characters as if they were, well, myself. I want more!!!

Good Old Style Muscle Building

For anyone who is familiar with Vince Gironda, this book is a must have. If you are a body builder and you have not looked into Vince Gironda you are missing out on a lot of valuable insight into creating muscle. This book not only gives exercises the Gironda way, it shows body building the way it should be done, you against the iron. Gironda trained many of the best including Schwarzenegger. If you think you are tough, try out Gironda's 8x8 routine, what he called the honest routine (not included in this book).

Inspiring: great addition to BB book collection

I'm not sure if this is the best BB book ever, but I would rank it very highly, partly because it contains information you may not find any other place. BTW, I waited to write this review until I had read the entire book.

Gironda makes it clear that his ideas were criticized in his day. Bodybuilders were laughed at when he first started, but he didn't let that stop him. His low carb, high protein diets must have seemed really weird back then. However, not so much in the post-Atkins world.

Then again, his recommendation to consume raw eggs and raw meat sounds like an invitation to food poisoning. Also, I am concerned that if I followed his advice to use dessicated liver tablets, I might be consuming too much iron and increasing my risk of heart disease. In fact, he recommends using a ton of supplements, and I'm not sure that this is necessary or that I could afford it.

Although he gives several different diet plans, they are actually for people who are already in good shape. He says he has no patience for fat. To lose fat, he says "eat less". He expected people coming to his gym to already be in good condition before they came asking for his advice. Of course, if you are out of shape, that doesn't mean you can't get something from this book. Just don't expect it to give you a lot of guidance on weight loss.

Also, don't expect it to be a book about getting huge. Gironda's idea of bodybuilding was not about that. He was really into the V shape.

He discourages heavy back squats, becuase he says it can make the gluts and waist too big, thereby detracting from the V shape. He also mentions that a guy with a short neck should not work the traps specifically. He even mentions that some bodybuilders look fat when they have their clothes on, because they have gotten big in the wrong places.

One interesting idea I picked up from this book is the use of hyperventilation. The idea is to take several deep breaths before beginning an exercise to get oxygen circulating so the muscles don't give out too soon. I found this very useful when doing high rep sets. I was able to get through the set more easily.

I think it is definitely worth following his advice on back development, given that he had one of the widest backs of his day.

Finally, he includes a chapter for bodybuilders over 40, which I particularly appreciated since I just turned 40.

I'm not sure what Kennedy's contribution was to this book. Probably some editing and choice of pictures. It was originally published under a slightly different title with only Gironda's name on it.

In Kennedy's book, Beef It!, he promotes the use of heavy, high rep squats, especially for those with a slow metabolism. Also, he argues against the idea that bodybuilders need a lot more protein than the average person. Instead, he recommends a high carb diet low in sugar, salt, and processed foods. He does not seem to think that a lot of supplements are necessary except maybe just before a contest.

Anyway, I don't know why Kennedy would want his name to be used on a book which clearly disagrees with his own ideas, so I suppose it had to be more of a business deal rather than a true collaboration. Of course, Kennedy is a self-described hardgainer, so I don't think he ever had the kind of personal bodybuilding success that Gironda did. He is, however, a very successful publisher and author.

I'm generally not all that impressed by pictures. There are books out there with great pictures and little information. However, for such a slim book, the author has included a wealth of information. And since the book is not so huge, there is no excuse not to read it all.

This is definitely a classic, and I'm surprised that it went out of print. I think it is one of the few bodybuilding books written about this time which has appreciated in value. I think that it will continue to do so as it becomes more rare, so get your copy sooner than later.

Vince Gironda was a pioneer in the world of bodybuilding, his methods were many years ahead of his time. The exercises, routines, nutrition, and philosophy contained in this book are some of the best in the world of physique training and bodybuilding. I recommend this book to any serious fitness enthusiast with an open mind. This book is simply a gold mine of information!

Note: there are several versions of this book on amazon at widely varying prices from used book dealers. Buy the cheapest version...they're all the same. if the title says "unavailable", then search amazon for another version by another seller...it's worth the trouble. Now for why i think this book is worth your reading (I only review excellent books...a small percentage of the books i read...why waste more time even talking about something that's not excellent?)...

Mr. Gironda had some ideas that were ahead of his time and a few places where i think he may have been incorrect. Here's the part you should study...

1. Go for symmetry instead of bulk. Unless you're into a professional sport or occupation that requires great stregth (example...have friend who's the first ATF agent through the door when making bust on crack house...he needs to be capable of brutality)..unless you need to be huge...extra weight can require more time in sleep and eating and slow you down. You can look plain fat in your clothes and most women are more attracted to the lean tarzan sort of look.

Don't believe me? Get a copy of Men's health and a copy of muscle and fitness...now ask the women you know which group of men (out of which magazine) would they want to choose their next vacation partner.

So if huge muscles make you more sleepy, less likely to get laid, less healthy, and require more time to maintain...I'd say a more lean tarzan look just works better all around.

Vince teaches this strategy (tarzan over hulk) and gives practical suggestions for pulling it off.

A let down was the fact that most of the photos in his book show people hulked out on steroids (not consistent with his philosophy). But if you look at photos of the author himself...he lived what he preached. In the photos in his clothes, he looks lean and not huge. With his clothes off he looks strong but not too bulky and the symmetry and vascualrity give him the "wild [and healthy] physique" of a Tarzan.

2. A few more extras...he gives a leaning up diet that is basically Atkins made better with it's suggestion of a high carb meal every 3 to 5 days to reload the muscles with glycogen and avoid weakness. When i do this diet, i make friday and monday carb days and stay with raw eggs (mix 6 in blender with scoop of whey and a tablespoon of diet jello and handful of ice), sushi or steak for supper, occasional atkins bar, and a teaspoon of metamucil per day (to avoid the constipation of all meat/egg diet).

I can't officially reocmmend the raw eggs (ask your own doctor...and don't have your lawyer even think of calling me if you get a stomach ache), but the way i do it is buy fresh eggs and just keep them cold until i'm ready to eat them. I've been eating raw eggs almost daily for about 30 years and never got sick from them (and keep a total cholesterol around 160...but i eat very very few sweets, don't drink any alcohol at all, and i exercise once almost every day and most days two times a day).

Then on carb loading days i have a salad, fruit, and even some pizza or something crazy to reload.

Anyway, sorry, don't won't to write a book just telling you a way to apply his all egg and meat diet (which he wrote way before atkins wrote his book).

3. The other ideas about training after 40 are excellent (i'll soon be 47 so i'm relating more to these chapters).

***What to ignore...he's not a fan of aerobic exercise. DEAD WRONG. Weights will not substitute the health benefits of walking. Do both..or do you not think you're worth it?

***Read more on my website and read my reviews and get healthy (guess what the people you're taking care of and using as an exuse for not working out...like your family and friends and customers...remember them? Guess what? you'll take better care of them if you're healthy).

Buy this book, throw away the sugary poison that's in your pantry...the stuff that you wouldn't feed to your dog, and go workout. Vince is right...it's 85% diet but the diet becomes easier if you're doing the workouts...it takes both.

Peace & health to you.

Good for women too!

Vince Gironda's training techniques are very effective for women as well.

Doing neck presses and incline db press filled in a hollow area I had around my collarbone also gave my breasts a firmer, tighter look.

Working the side delts improved on a otherwise poor bone structure and made me look better in my upper body.

I was also able to firm and tighten my legs with "Howorth squats" and pulley squeezes.

To bad Vince is gone, I would have enjoyed meeting him.
