This is really a good book on the subject --- "Veterinary Nursing" Its content is one of the best if not the best. This book's presentation is the best of this kind. Really easy to read. I highly recommend to all the nursing professionals.

I was introduced to this book while volunteering at an animal clinic that had no regular veterinarian. The veterinarian would only cover emergencies and sterilizations, not any other problems. By using this easy to use volume with clear concise information, the other volunteers and I were able to help countless animals with a huge variety of illnesses. From help with signs of disease to learning how to properly bandage an ear, it was referenced time and time again. I immediately realized I needed my own copy. Although a bit pricey, it'll earn its keep rapidly.

If you're into romance + humor this book would be the best for you. It was definetly a good read for me. It is based in a small town setting. The main character Delilah Jones tries to prove to everyone especially herself; that she is a sophisticated career woman, who basically doesn't want to be like any of her rowdy brothers.
For almost 20 years her and her enemy Sam Fletcher made a silent vow, by pretending the other wasn't there. Until one day Sam Fletcher who also dispises her, comes in her life all of a sudden and breaks that vow. Make it worse Sam is every bit as wild as her brothers!
I spent my time laughing while reading each page, I guess it's a typical small town surrounding.

When I read this I didn't realize it was the first of the Jones Gang series. Delilah is Oggie Jones's daughter and that means he wagered one of his properties that Sam Fletcher would marry her and her brother Brendan wagered his semi on a game of cards with Sam but Sam wanted a date with Delilah instead of the truck. Poor Delilah is a schoolteacher and a very straight-laced woman who is not happy to be one of the Jones Gang! I did want to add this to my previous review.

A good read! Delilah Jones and Sam Fletcher have known each other for 20 years and have finally discovered each other. They live in a very samll town and everyone puts in their 2 cents on the romance so they have to overcome all of the setbacks that come their way. The biggest setback is admitting that they love each other and learning to deal with it. I enjoyed the book.

Warriors of the Steppes is the second in a four-volume set that collects, for the first time, the complete Cossack stories of Harold Lamb and presents them in order: every adventure of Khlit the Cossack and those of his friends, allies, and fellow Cossacks, many of which have never before appeared between book covers. Compiled and edited by the Harold Lamb scholar Howard Andrew Jones, each volume features never-before reprinted essays Lamb wrote about his stories, informative introductions by popular authors, and a wealth of rare, exciting, swashbuckling fiction.

This second volume collects all five tales of Khlit's greatest friend, the valorous Abdul Dost, and Dost's comrade Sir Ralph Weyand. Life across the Roof of the World is more dangerous than ever as Khlit teams up with Abdul to thwart a gang of kidnappers, stamp out a cult of stranglers, save the dazzling Retha, and reluctantly lead an Afghani rebellion against the forces of the Mogul. Contained herein are the THREE NEVER-BEFORE-COLLECTED stories of Khlit the Cossack, including the short novel The Curved Sword.

When your fans include Robert E. Howard, David Drake and SM Stirling, you must be doing something right. Such is the case with Harold Lamb. In this second volume of Lamb's "Cossack" adventures, the stories get better and better as you progress through the book. Considering that the first tale is excellent, you can't go wrong buying this book. If you are a fan of swashbuckling adventure, you owe it to yourself to check out Harold Lamb.

Very, very good.

I bought this book (and the companion volume) after reading some of Lamb's work in the 'Flashing Swords' ezine and anthology from Pitch-Black Press (Sages and Swords). I'd never heard of Lamb before--and now I've read his work, I'm stumped if I know why that is. Everything that's good about adventure fiction is in this book: strong and cunning protagonists, treacherous villains, and exotic locales, and all written in a clean and fast-paced prose style I wish I could emulate.

I read the whole thing in a week, then read the other volume straight after. When I finished, I went back and read them again.

My only caveat about the books has nothing to do with the stories, but the covers. The stock used for the covers is a little thin, and it warps badly if it gets damp. If you do buy a copy (and you should), then keep the cover away from water, otherwise it will curl and start to come apart.

If you're at all interested in adventure fiction, you should buy this book and any others by Lamb you can. Really, they're very, very good.

Definately one of the best in the series. My favorite part of the book was the focus on child labor. It was quite appalling to see how children were abused as factory laborors (however it was tastefully done). A great addition to any children's l;brary.

I absolutely loved this book after I checked it out from the local library and was determined to get my own! The book gives a good look at all sorts of things like toys, clothes, games, technology, as well as all other aspects of Victorian life! A very nicely written book about growing up in the Victorian era, I'd recommend this to anyone wanting to see what life was like back in 1904!

I use this book in my classroom as a reference book. It contains plenty of information about toys, dolls, games, and the things that children do at different stages of American History. The students enjoy this series, as most history text books do not focus on children's activities of a time period.

It's a rare business book that purports to systematically measure the impact of a business strategy, especially as one as broad as advertising. Based on a panel of 2,000 households across the US, Jones reports findings based on the evaluation of 142 branded product advertising programs. He concludes that while advertising produced an average increase of 24% in short term sales and an average increase of 6% in long term sales, he find that the majority of campaigns (60%) are relatively neutral, 20% contribute to increased consumption, and 20% actually diminish sales, at least in the short run. This is a stark reminder that any company can advertise, but its the quality not the quantity that counts

Impressive work about advertising efectiveness, great book!

This book gives you glimpse of Charleston (albeit mostly colonial Charleston) that you may not have heard about. I am glad the author gives the modern day addresses of some of the places discussed in the book, this makes it easy to find and explore these locations on my next visit!
Charleston certainly was 'sin city' about 200 years ago!
Highly recommend this book!

I've read plenty of Charleston histories, but this ranks among the best. Detailed but lively, it explores (and dispels) the myths and presents the pirate legends, ghost stories, and scandals with that touch of the risque that is seldom found in watered down tour books or stuffy histories. Whether you're headed to Charleston for a visit or just looking for an armchair tour, this is the book.

Finally, the TRUTH about Charleston History!!

I have read numerous books about Charleston history and this is by far the most entertaining. Most history books are full of boring facts and dates. "Wicked Charleston" is anything BUT boring. Lots of stories about brothels, murders, scandals, etc.

Mark Jones obviously did his homework on this one.

A "Must Read" for anybody that has ever been to the Holy City. Or should I say "Unholy City" now that I've read this book?

The Best Windows 98 Book Available!!

I have tried about a dozen different books on Windows 98 and have been somewhat disappointed by them. They all seem to have the usual "boilerplate" stuff that doesn't really answer some of the questions that stump beginners (and some "pros"). This book seems to anticipate your questions as you read through it.

The book is very comprehensive, and it presents information in a very clear and nontechnical manner. For example, when I first began using Windows 98, I didn't understand why it had both the My Computer window and the Explorer window. But, on page 122, Mr. Venit succinctly says, "...the My Computer icon is simply a built-in shortcut that starts Explorer and opens the My Computer folder within it!" Then, on page 123, he very clearly and helpfully explains the "two basic differences" between My Computer and Explorer. He goes on to "examine the consequences of each of these differences."

I most highly recommend The Extended Edition. Frankly, I am surprised it doesn't have a higher Sales Rank. Some might consider this book a bit expensive, but in my opinion it is worth every penny. PS: By the way, I have no connection whatsoever with the publisher or the author. I sincerely hope Mr. Venit publishes a book on Windows XP(which I expect to upgrade to someday). PPS: I am a computer "newbie," but I am a retired educator with 40 years of experience in the educational field.

If any BOOK deserved to become a FEATURE FILM...THIS is IT!

When you pick up this book you're in it for the long haul. You won't put down this over 500 page first novel until you turn to the last page. It's REALLY that GOOD!

I can see the movie now --- Executive Producer, Joel Silver; lead stars, ETHAN ZOHN (YES, the newest winner of the latest "Survivor" show in Africa...I'm not kidding!)as ex-fighter pilot Dylan Brann/The Raven, JENNIFER GARNER (the hot chick from the "Alias" TV show) as Michelle Jensen, secret government agent and Dylan's ex-squeeze; HUGH JACKMAN, as Bo Hawkins, the ex-fighter jock & Dylan's best friend, etc. Hey, these are the key characters in the book and they're all good guys. Here's a major suggestion to Mr. Silver or any other Hollywood producers looking for a hot property, which I have a feeling this book will become in the future, don't cast any names bigger to play the bad guys, OK?!?!

It's great to see the movie industry start to take the wonderful legends of comic book history and start to make films about their fantastic tales the right way. God knows after the horror of Sept. 11, 2001, we all need some entertaining distractions. While I'm looking forward to the next X-Men pic, Blade 2, The Incredible Hulk and the upcoming Spider-Man movie, please make this story, in what looks to be a great new book series, a blockbuster movie that will remind all of us what a real superhero truly is. "Wings" is a timely story that's thrilling, filled with high-tech fun, and will even tug at your heart a little.

Most people don't realize that the great comic book heroes are a throwback to epic tales of ancient mythology. And the comics are true American literature that salutes those fantastic tales of good versus evil. Enjoy this book and SPREAD the WORD!!!

'Wings of the Valiant' is a well-written book. The catastrophic event that takes the protagonist's father was reminiscent of an avalanche that actually occurred in the Andes Mountains of Peru just a few weeks ago. What a coincidence! Introducing the story's hero during the nuclear cataclysm of a future Middle Eastern war is a stroke of genius on the author's part. The scene gets the novel in full gear after an interesting prelude that spans over centuries. The characterizations are something that tie in well with the story along with the action sequences which are amazing, especially the one where some of the main characters have to parachute to safety while their jet is in peril. That scene alone is fantastic! Mark Edward Jones has done an admirable job at creating a wonderful tale where the past, present, and near future affect one another greatly and cause one man to face his destiny. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves action/adventure.

An enjoyably entertaining read!

This is a brilliant introduction to a new publishing format, the interactive CD-ROM book. While it could have had some more graphics, the special effects of sound and music don't take away from my using my imagination while reading. And Jones creates an amazing world to really let the mind go.

The characters are well developed, even the minor ones, and it's nice to see several subplots that intertwine nicely with the main part of the story. The main characters emotional and physical rollercoaster seems real as he goes through some incredible pain, loss, and suffering while trying to keep his sanity.

The story's pacing is good and the main backstory involving ancient Peru is interesting and informative. I just have one complaint ~ it's so well composed, I just wonder where the actually historical part ends and the fiction begins.

The action, while sometimes over the top, is top-notch, easy to follow, and fun to read. The last part of the story is in almost a different mood that the rest of the book and the ending, while not completely a surprise, ties up everything neatly and definetly leads to a sequel which I look forward to seeing. What else can I say but it's a thoroughly enjoyable book and deserves two thumbs up!

Ursula Jones has created a fresh story about the traditional witch. In this book, children will identify with the characters as the witch's children look like normal, modern age children. The witch herself looks like "today's mom" with long, beautiful hair--as described by a six year old girl who read the story--and a purple dress with matching jewelry. Students will enjoy the silly and funny characters as well as the plot, and they will enjoy the new spin Jones has given to the tradional "princess and prince" fairy tale. Students will also be captured by the illustrations as they make the story alive with movement and magic.
This is a story that kids wouldn't want to miss!

The story is absolultely fresh and even in that the teller has mastered her idea so completely that the delivery is flawless. From the littlest Witch Child who keeps falling down because she's laughing so hard to the wonderful description another reviewer cited about the MOMMY! incantation - every page is a new thrill in fun and joy. The illustrations are captivating, subtle yet on-spot in the characters' expressions, simplicity and believability.
