A collection of 100 poems in all and many are recognisable and from poets from around the globe. Personal highlights would have to be "How do I love thee?", "Cargoes", "The Owl and the Pussycat" and "The Raven".
You will surprise yourself with your knowledge of poetry and it's varied and broad appeal.

In 1942, the historical time period for this book, the U. S. Air Force, as Ms. Jones suggests, did not yet exist as a separate armed service. Originally the Army Air Corps, it became the U. S. Army Air Force (USAAF) in 1940. It was NOT separated from the U.S. Army until 1947.
Their uniforms, flight suits and coveralls, etc. in 1942 were NOT blue as Ms. Jones writes. Like the rest of the U. S. Army in 1942, the Army Air Force wore olive drab wool uniforms in the winter and lighter weight khaki for summer. The USAAF did not adopt blue uniforms until they became the U. S. Air Force in 1947.
The term "neat" as in something is "really neat," as Ms. Jones uses it, didn't come along until the early sixties. I believe it was originally surfing slang. In the forties, the word of the day was "swell."
The manufacturerer of the B-17 bombsight is spelled N-o-r-d-e-n, not N-o-r-d-a-n as Ms. Jones spells it. Ms. Jones also failed to clarify that the bombardier actually flies the plane through the bombsight, which controls the aircraft's autopilot, during a bomb run.
Ms. Jones wrote that Jack and Norm were good friends, often paling around together. As a pilot, Jack was an officer, while Norm the radioman was an enlisted man. For the most part, officers and enlisted men did not "fraternize" with each other. It was actually against regulations. Jack and Norm would not have gone together to a pub as Ms. Jones depicts.
There were a few smaller issues, like a B-17 pilot and co-pilot would not be talking to each other in the cockpit in a normal tone of voice during normal flight, much less during a bomb run. Not gonna happen. Too noisy. They had to shout at each other or use the interphone (intercom).
That said, don't let any of the errors I've mentioned keep you from reading this book. It also has a few typos, but not so many they ruin the read. This book is a definite keeper for any romance reader's bookshelf.
You can't help but like Mel and Jack, the heroine and hero. I found Mel especially refreshing. She is the kind of woman that another woman could trust at her back, even with a knife in her hand. She is not your typical delicate, whiney, self-centered female. She's the kind of woman men respect on the same level as they respect each other. Kudos for these character, Ms. Jones!! Mel is awesome!! And Jack is YUMMY!
The author's facts were also dead on regarding the 8th AAF station at Bassingbourne Airdrome and the "Ragged Irregulars" of the 91st Bomb Group stationed there. She even threw in one of my heroes, Capt. Robert K. Morgan, pilot of the famous Memphis Belle.
She describes an air raid in London that makes you feel as if you're right there, experiencing every moment of it. And the ending...well, grab yourself a box of kleenex ladies. It's one of the most poingnant and satisfying endings I've ever read. Plus, it sets up a sequel so perfectly I sincerely hope Ms. Jones writes it. I will definitely be on the lookout for this aughor's books in the future.

The Bible of the POW ExperienceReview Date: 2008-07-18
While writing a long article on a particular POW I was able to use this book as an excellent guide to the various timelines, facilities and actual implementations of the Code of Conduct. The book does not seek to be damning, except in one case where 8 men are named as total turncoats charged by their Sr. Ranking Officer with treason.
The book is smooth reading, but long. It is possible that this could be the only POW book many people will ever need.

A monumental account of POW captivity.......Review Date: 2003-06-02
John G. Hubbell not only relates the stories of high profile POW's from North Vietnam, he explores the many aspects and rigors faced by U.S. servicemen in the brutal Southern Vietnamese prison camps. In helping the reader to truly understand the entire experience, this being a cautionary note to everyone, torture methods suffered by our U.S. servicemen are described very graphically throughout the text and may be difficult to read about at times.
Included in the superbly written and well researched narrative are maps of the various prison compounds, photographs of POW's and their captors, and the entire list of repatriated servicemen at Operation Homecoming in 1973.
"P.O.W. - A definitive history of the American Prisoner of War Experience, 1964-1973" is a very comprehensive and powerful study that makes for a lasting, memorable, and emotional reading experience. Upon recommending this book to everyone with interests in POW captivity, I would also like to suggest the brilliant and epic work "Honor Bound - American Prisoners of War in Southeast Asia, 1961-1973".

Learn about moral courage practiced by the most vulnerableReview Date: 2005-04-13
This book is the quintessential book on the POW experience in North Vietnam, and I have read many of them. The atrocities committed by the North Vietnamese captors were barbaric, horrific, and inhuman. The POWs mostly Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force pilots and crewmen were left with no guidance other than their consciences, their moral compass, their pride of service, their patriotism and an outmoded "Code of Conduct" to fight back against unspeakable tortures designed to win over and break the "American Enemy" and score political propaganda points. For these prisoners, the war was not over when they were shot down. A new and completely unexperienced war commenced upon their capture, a cold, calculating battle to exploit those most vulnerable in the Vietnam War in order to exact concessions from the United States of America.
Against the background of these torturous events, North Vietnam's enablers from the U.S. and international anti-war activists cravenly cooperated with North Vietnamese officials to further undermine the courageous efforts of our POWs who endured barbaric handling to not betray their country's honor.
Not all POWs held up to the rigors of the "Code of Conduct" as well as the greatest majority. However, fortunately not having walked in their shoes, I cannot judge their behavior. The activities of the most stalwart POWs as well as those who were less so are chronicled it this very readable and very moving book. These were the true "heroes" of the Vietnam War. They have never received due honor and recognition. This book attempts to do so in a very meaningful way. If you read ANY book on the Vietnam experience, this must be the one.

Off-the-shelf processes for CMMM level 3 and above orgsReview Date: 2002-03-21
I found the most valuable parts of this book to be the clearly described measurement model, and the way the authors distinguish between data that is useful to projects and organizational data collection and analysis. This material places PSM in context and is a sound starting point for an organizational SQA initiative.
The case studies reinforces the mechanics of PSM, and also contain advice and pointers for implementing enterprise-wide measurement. Although I've been following the PSM initiative almost since its inception and have read all of the copious materials available, I still gained much from this book. If you're establishing an SQA function or striving for CMM level 4 or above you'll find this book invaluable. The URLs provided will lead to even more material, including a free Windows-based software tool that fully supports the practical software measurement process.

Outstanding book - thought provoking and eye openingReview Date: 2008-01-28
Upon starting my journey through this book, I was immediately amazed at the numerous ways pride incorporates itself into everyday life. I never realized how much of a hold it had on me until now - even in subtle ways. I had a hard time putting the book down and am in the process of reading it again. It's easy to read without being simplistic and cites many examples in the Bible of both pride and humility, as well as a thought provoking question at the end of every chapter to help relate that particular main idea to your own life.
If you're serious about revamping your outlook and approach to life - read this book! An excellent read and reference book as well. Good luck in your journey... :)

Life Changing Book....Review Date: 2004-01-06
This book has been instrumental in helping me to see myself the way that God does. It has defined the sin of pride for me in terms that I can understand. It is a GREAT study tool.As I read the book I looked up the scriptures the book referenced and kept a journal for my personal thought and study. Doing this helps me to Hate my sin and compels me to repent. It has motivated and inspired me to want to change my sinful nature. It is deep, thought provoking and life changing if you let it be.

A great conclusionReview Date: 2000-12-20
Like the other two books, this book can be read as a stand-alone book, but a much deeper understanding would be gained by reading the whole series. Magic completely disappeared in this book, as did the inclusion of actual Dark Age customs. However, this book has a gripping storyline, which draws the reader through the finale of the saga. It is an excellent conclusion to the series, and well worth reading.
Really enjoyed this author's telling of the Camelot story.Review Date: 1999-01-26
