Powerful new book by Weyman Jones; it has everything, romance, murder, excitement, soul searching, humor. Mr. Jones sets us down in the middle of life in Key West, where we become immersed in the characters' personal lives, their greedy searchings for treasure at the bottom of the sea, the mysterious happenings during the course of these searches. It's a real page turner, and I can't wait for the sequel!

This suspense novel has everything; the ambiance of Florida's
keys, sunken treasure, a simpatico protagonist who's trying to find himself and, in the search, finds a beautiful woman, and a hair-raising confrontation, plus a rousing climax! Ideal reading, whether on a sunny beach, a coast-to-coast business flight or in front of a roaring fire in the midst of a snow storm. I'm looking forward to the next W.B. Jones next thriller!

Weyman Jones has captured graphically, and accurately, the spirit of Key West. His characters come alive right from page one, and as the mystery deepens the Doublooner becomes a taut page-turner until one doesn't want to see the novel end. A sequel?

In the Doublooner Weyman Jones takes me into several worlds I didn't know before. First there is the unique life style of Key West. Then there is the treasure hunting and diving world. He also dabbles a bit in cooking and resteraunteuring. (...)It is still a book of suspense and intrigue. Who will get the treasure? Who will get the girl. Who wears the doublooner?

In his book "The Elder Within", Terry Jones brings the insights of a wide range of mythologists, psychologists and other experts to bear on the meaning of mature masculinity in the 21st century. His passion to explore his own "eldership" fuels his re-visioning of the traditional male roles of protector, provider and teacher. Offering simple, practical ways of becoming an elder in the family and community, Jones pictures the elder as generative, accessible, a listener, a steward of the planet, one who blesses, who makes himself available in quiet, attentive ways to being a resource. Jones's approach is gentle, invitational, inclusive, embodying his own idea of eldership. Readers will find comfort, encouragement and fresh ideas about their own process of embracing the elder within and living their own wisdom to the benefit of others. The book will be useful for group study as well as personal reflection.

In a society where father-hunger is of epidemic proportions and where retirement is commonly viewed as self-indulgent withdrawal, Terry Jones' vision of eldership is enormously important. Drawing on the rich history of eldership in other ages and cultures, Jones calls men to an egalitarian, non-patriarchal "mature masculinity" which is life-giving not only to men but also to women, children and the planet. I hope this book will be widely read and its message given embodiment.

Jones, in very simple English, tells us what happened, where we're at, and where we need to go. I couldn't put the book down. There is so much wisdom in less than two hundred pages.

I spoke to two men who seldom finish a book, and both said they only read a third of the book, but what they did read was good. I told them that all they read was how we got off track. The how-to, the action to take, the gold, is in the last third of the book, just like it is in the last third of life.

Jones dispels the belief that our final years should be either of self-indulgence in our motor homes and on the Florida beaches, or of sitting around wondering why we can't be young. He provides all sorts of ways to be in truly enjoyable service, and suggests that our indulgence can come in the form of sharing our stories and watching as our mentorship makes a difference in the earth, our community, or in the life of a mentee.

Since the majority of Americans are going to be in the over-fifty range soon, the book could not be more timely. This book will change your way of looking at either what you've been missing (if you are over 50) or what you have to look forward to (if you are under fifty). At 54 and recently laid off from my sales career, The Elder Within has shown me the path for the rest of my life. It will be my handbook from here on out.

I'm off to see the rabbi in South Bend.

This is an excellent review for the NREMT exam for EMT-B certification. It is well organized, helps you pinpoint areas where you need to study more, and is written very much like the actual test.

The questions in these practice tests are much more difficult than those found in online practice tests, which tend to be over-simplified. Just as important, this book is from an authoritative source; I found some answers in the online sources which were just plain wrong.

The NREMT exam is as much about test-taking ability as it is about subject matter knowledge, and that's where this book really helps. In particular, there are many questions on the actual exam where the choices contain information which looks very simple at first glance, but which in fact contains very subtle differences. The questions in this book give you those types of choices, and train you to read each question carefully looking for those nuances which are the difference between a right answer and a wrong answer.

Your first time through the questions in this book may be a wake-up call if you don't really know your stuff. But it's better to get a wake-up call before the test, rather than during the test. I passed on the first try. Good luck!

As a school administrator, I find the information on interviewing and interrogation helpful in getting to the bottom of issues I previously have not been able to solve. The questioning techniques and the observation of behaviors presented in this book enable me to allow my students to tell the truth and help to solve their own issues. The resolution of these issues and the breaking down of lies and cover-up behavior is the first step to helping students make better decisions. This book is an invaluable resource in that regard.

If you cannot afford the expensive course given by Reid, or your agency is too "thrifty" to spend the money to send you, this book will give you a thorough overview. The technique is explained very well in two sections- the first part provides a synopsis of interview and interrogation essentials in some detail. Distinctions between Inerviews and Interrogations; Obtaining facts; the Interview Room; Investigator Attitude; Starting Interviews; Formulating Questions; Behavioral Analysis of Truthful and Untruthful Subjects. The second part explains the nine-step technique Reid has developed and perfected over years of use by many agencies. Written for a general reader, the writing avoids legalese and is well illustrated. Highly recommended!

By Eros Shadow

MARS, Fuyumi Soryo's Shojo title released in the United Sates, made a big hit with the loving fangirls and fanboys. A lot of people, who arn't big Shojo fans, are probably turned off by Soryo's work. Well non-loving fans, START LOVING! Eternal Sabbath is chocked full of science/psychology/neurology/philosphy(if you will)! Also it contains plenty of that wonderful gore that fans love so well.

MARS encaptures a beautiful developing love story although it is not all about love, avid readers of MARS have seen a slight glint of the "dark-side" of life. Or, the dark-side of life that Soryo percieves and has the ability to portray in workings. Eternal Sabbath flat out GOES THERE! ES breaks down the human mind into components exploring different outlets that potentially boggle the mind. There is a great deal of explanation involved as well with the machines they use and how they work. Readers can never get bored of these explanations, although they may lose some if not read with a close eye. The gore also draws the reader into the compelling plotline begging for more. (Yes kids! It has blood..but it's not in color so it's okay) Each manga is full of suspense and a reader will never know what is to come.

It is a marvel that Soryo has the ability to transfer from one genre to another creating a wide range of work that draws any reader to it. Soryo is definatly a universal author for every reader to enjoy. This is a must read for anyone who respects beautiful imagery that Soryo creates and the amazing plotline!

Absolutely amazing.
Art work is brilliant and the story line is equally amazing. Though the story is sci-fi, it is not that far off. Modern day genetic research is advancing at unbelievable speeds. It makes you wonder what the future holds for us. Might one of us suffer as the main character did because of the progress science is making?

I have read 6 of the mangas, and am eagerly awaiting the release of the 7th. I cannot wait to see what will happen next.

Ryousuke Akiba can read people's minds and manipulate their memories to suit his whims. When he stops the murder attempt on the son of the family he's staying with, Mine Kujyou, a psychological researcher, is called upon to evaluate the would-be killer. The high school student thinks he's been burned, even though he doesn't have a mark on him. Later, while in the hospital, he develops subcutaneous burns, and Mine is instantly intrigued.

When she and her friend witness a brutal murder, Mine can only focus on another by-stander. The man only seems irritated with the event, walking away from the scene as though nothing had happened. Seeing him later at the university where she works, she confronts him about his behavior, and he tells her that he can read people's minds. He knew he was in no danger that day, so he continued about his business. He then taunts her, and tries to change her memories, but finds that she is unaffected by his powers. Infuriated that he can't change her memories, he makes her think her hand is being sliced open. As she stares down at the blood she thinks she sees spurting out of her hand, he walks away from her, smirking.

The next day, she goes to see her friend, who works in the record department. Cross referencing Ryousuke's student number for the last two years, they discover that his picture has changed. Mine visits his home, and relived to find that he's not home, she grills his grandmother about him. After talking with her, she is highly doubtful that he's really her grandchild, and is even more freaked out by him.

When Ryousuke turns up at the lab where she works, and everybody tells her that she recommended him for a job opening, she is suddenly afraid of him. He assures her that he won't hurt her as long as she leaves him alone. When he lets slip that there are others like him, Mine is more determined that ever to learn the secret behind his existence. What is he? Why does he have these powers?

This was a pretty good book. It's nothing like Mars, Soryo's other series that has been released in the US. I liked the creepy atmosphere. Ryousuke is devoid of emotions, and Mine doesn't relate well with others, either. Both of them are on the fringe of society, watching what goes on around them, but not taking a part in it. Mine is fascinated by it; Ryousuke just seems bored.

The art is nothing spectacular. I don't really care for Soryo's art style; it's rather bland and there's not a lot of detail. The story makes up for the art, though, and I'm really looking forward to the next book. I am interested to learn more about Ryousuke and his "evil" clone. My description of the story doesn't really do it justice, either. If you like stories that focus more on plot development than action, give this one a try.

Very intelligent work. Fuyumi Soryo knows a lot about psychology and biology, I am impressed. The story line is also significant and the moral dilemmas are interesting. It's hard to determine were you stand because the morality of the characters is so blurred, but that's what makes it so interesting. I read volumes one and two, at first I couln't understand the cold and careless demeanor of the main character, but later I came to like it. It will make you wonder and question who you are.

I read this because Fuyumi Soryo is the manga-ka of my favorite series; Mars. The plot of this manga is thrilling and interesting from a psychological point of view. I never put the book down once the first time I read it, and I have reread it several times since then. The art is also some of the best I've ever seen in a manga. Eternal Sabbath has even replaced Mars as my favorite series.

"EVERY WOMAN HAS A STORY" is a delightful read. I was impressed with the clever and yet simple idea of compiling a collection of personal stories, crossing socio-economic, ethnic, levels of education and age bounderies. The stories are as different as the women who wrote them, and yet the common thread is that of poignancy, honesty, a struggle to survive and grow, and a touch of humor thrown in for good measure. Some of the stories are simple, others more complex. I found them all to be human, tender and touching. I was particularly moved by Paula Silverberg's "LEAP AND THE NET WILL APPEAR". The charming tale of a young woman whose courage and determination in addressing a childhood disappointment, prompted her to face the "failure", muster the challenge, and, as an adult, emerge triumphant. A lesson for us all - "Feel the fear, but do it any way". As an added bonus I found the size and shape of the book to be reminiscent of a personal journal, and reading its content made it so much more endearing. Bravo to the ladies as well as the compiler! May we expect another collection soon?

Daryl Ott Underhill has done a fabulous job! This collection of heartfelt, intelligently-selected essays by women from all walks of life should not be considered a "women's book." Everyone over the age of fourteen -- if not younger -- can derive pleasure and benefit. Because it is a collection and the stories are short, it can be read at odd moments, but the reader is apt to find hi/rself continuing to the end out of pure enjoyment. What to do and when not to. Also commons sense advise when not to file. Power to the people, justice for all, without an attorney taking half of what is yours

If you are reading this review, you are most probably a prospective plaintiff considering recovering losses you incurred in an auto accident through the small claims court process. This guide will help you tremendously. The NoLo series is an incredible service to mankind. It is the equivalent to the Dummies series focused on the Law. And, who besides expensive lawyers really understand the Law? Readers who have studied NoLo books!

The book is very well organized. Even though there is a lot of material, it is easy to extract the information pertaining to your very specific situation. The author covers a lot of those; as he dedicates specific chapters to auto repairs, auto accidents, lord-tenant dispute, etc... The author states that he covers the main type of cases that account for 99% of the cases tried in small claim courts. I believe him. If your case is outside those presented, there is a good chance it does not belong in small claims court.

The author gives crucial information about the basics of small claim courts. If you are not a lawyer, you are unfamiliar with all the procedures associated with it. Thanks to this book, you will know exactly what to do and when to file, prepare, and try a claim in small claims court. Once you have done the studying and the preparing it is not all that difficult. And, this book allows you to navigate through a bureaucratic process that would appear overwhelming and Byzantine otherwise.

This is my second NoLo book and hopefully the last. Who wants to deal with the Law if you don't have to? My first one was on how to fight a ticket. Thanks to NoLo, I reduced the price of my ticket by $120. Now, I anticipate recovering the cost of a fender bender where I am dealing with one uninsured and one unwilling party. It is not fun, but those NoLo books allow you to uphold your rights when you have to.

If you have a claim involving $5,000 or less, you can easily and inexpensively bring an action in Small Claims Court. But even though Small Claims Court is designed for non-attorneys (in fact, attorneys are not allowed) you still must have a basic understanding of the rules of evidence and know how to put on your case. Invest a little time to read this book, and you will stand a much better chance of winning.

If you want to make less mistakes, save time and money, it's best to start with this book so you can get the correct service, venue, and evidence organized to file and win. I found the chapter on how to write a demand letter and settle your claim before it gets to court very helpful. They even offer sample letters you use to settle your case. Dr. M Lloyd-Jones' books are the standard in Christian literature. None has so inspired men and women to authentic and genuine Christianity. Lloyd-Jones does a masterful job in stating the heart of the Christian faith. What I love about his books is, he always inspires a person to drive deeper into the greatest book of all time, the bible. He is so biblical, so percise, and so careful in expositing word by word, verse by verse that you'll find charismatics, arminians, cavinists, fundamentalists, and even Christian liberals nodding their heads at the clear truths in these books. If you read any of his reviews, you'll hardly find anyone that give him lower than 5 stars. Considering that some of his out of print books sell for well over $100 a piece, this is a treasure and a bargain!

Review Date: 2007-02-04
After reading this 8 volumn series of Dr. Martyn Lloyd Jones' exposition of the Epistle to the Ephesians, I have been encouraged with a number of convictions that the Dr and I share: 1. The Church of Christ needs a renewal of Bible Exposition; passage upon passage and through entire books of the written Word of God. The Dr. masterfully builds upon the great truths contained in this letter. 2. Truth transforms as a person begins with their mind being taught these Great Truths. These truths (as all truth) set free and transform the total person as it is applied by the Spirit. Truth changes ones character, ones social context, and arms him/her for spiritual conflict. 3. The postional truths of who we are in Christ(as individuals and as a church),develop "Spirit-Filled" churches. I know that this term has been hijacked by certain segments of the Evangelical Church. But this Exposition of Ephesians demonstrates that being Spirit-Filled has to do with transformation not only in worship but in those places where everyone sees our Christianity. (our marriages, family relationships, and work) Being Spirit-Filled means that you really are different and these vitally areas are changed. Those are the evidences of being "Spirit-Filled." 4. The Church is where the wisdom of God is demonstrated to the Spiritual forces of this world System. (3:10-12) Christ has conquered these forces through His death and resurrection (1:20-22) Now we can stand (individually and as the Church) against those forces and move steadily to the victory He has won. (6:10-20) Lloyd Jones warns us against seeing our spiritual warfare in merely human terms (a reak problem with those influenced by liberal theology) but in spiritual ones. He also warns against taking on God's enemy, the Devil, in a Cavalier manner (a problem all too prevelant among many extremeist in Charismatic movement)But to stand and learn what it means to arm oneself for conflict.
These volumns are not for those who want quick, easy, pleasing to the ears messages. These are faithful, thourough expositions of the passages. He takes on the tough passages and concepts of this epistle. This reading speaks to todays consumer oriented, and consumer pleasing "Bible Lite" mentality that is destroying Western Evangelicalism. Lloyd Jones teaches who we are in Christ, who we are as the Church in Christ, and always keeps the demands of the Gospel front and center. Lord, give us preachers like this man again. Our times surely need them.

I very much like the clarity and easy reading style the books are writen in. It is great that some profound truths are carried across in language that can easily be understood and followed. He spends long enough on a point to let it sink in without becoming repetative. Very much enjoyed the read.

The way that Anna Monar has found and allowed authors such as those that have been in the book to be published is excellent, as I am one of those myself. I would definitely recommend this book for anyone interested in the many different writing styles and to get a glimpse of how others think and feel. Anna has done an amazing job in bringing together all the different cultures and aspects of people from around the world in past, present, and future. Props to you Anna! Thanks for making this happen for those of us who have always wanted this opportunity!

Ana Monar brings together not only writers from past and present but also a wonderful blend of different cultures, ideaologies and even generations. This will certainly encourage young people who would never have published their work to do so. If I could I would put a copy of Dancing With Words in every school (and public) library.

I believe that family dinners are getting lost by the wayside. Too many fast food meals that are rushed and the child usually plays on the play equipment and the parents eat while watching them and then the children never end up eating their meal!

Family Theme Dinners gives great ideas to get the family together and encourages self esteem. It brings families closer together. Also it gets those fussy eaters eating! I am sure the children will have many more memories!

What a wonderful idea this book is! I cannot tell you of all the fun times we have already enjoyed with theme dinners from "Under the Plastic." Having three small children and getting them to eat dinner is a chore in itself. But this is really fun. I actually look forward to preparing the dinner and having the kids help me find supplies needed throughout the week for our Saturday dinners. Whats more is I am adding a family theme dinner in the middle of the week because we enjoy having these fun dinners together! Hip Hip Hooray for Verna Jones and Donna Armstrong on a job well done!!!
