....and I don't want it to end because I don't yet have the second book to read.

This is a wonderful book. The main character, Angel, is very real.

The author has taken a subject bound to create tension and controversy and spun a tale that reaches out and grabs you. You can't stop reading. No matter your beliefs, no matter your age, this book has something for everyone.

I believe the message Angel is spreading is real. It's real for our time and our lives. Do Unto. With no qualifications and no waffling. Do Unto Others...

I enjoyed this book from beginning to end. Contrary to what another review said, I didn't feel it was slow getting started, but liked getting to know the characters. The story holds your interest and you want to follow Angel's journey.
It's definitely worth reading.

Angel Waters knows almost nothing about his real family. His father died in a car accident three months before his birth. His mother committed suicide soon afterwards. The only family Angel really ever knew was his foster parents, the Darwins. The Darwins were incredibly strict Christians who home schooled Angel until high school and felt that rock and roll music was evil. When Angel started attending public high school, he was extremely ill prepared. The only subject he actually thrived in was music class where he was a natural musician and singer. In fact, Angel was so good that he was encouraged to start a band, a Christian Rock band.

The Songs of Galileo: Voice of God contains of really interesting facets. The book explores the influence of Angel's foster parents extreme beliefs on the boy while delving into the world of rock music, schizophrenia, and various belief systems. I am quite interested in where book two of this series will take Angel and his story.

sure to become a hit

In these days of religious and cultural intolerance the world might benefit from some guidance. What is the answer to world peace? Angel Waters is about to tell us. Angel is the lead singer in a contemporary Christian band and he is going to spread the word. But it isn't what you might think. Angel's message is about tolerance for other religions, doing unto others as you would have them do unto you, banishing prejudices and loving one another. The band he is with isn't all that thrilled, and they become downright irrational when Angel reveals that God communicates with him - making him God's newest messenger.
Angel is brought up in a fundamentalist Christian foster home. He has no clue what other religions offer and is not even allowed to listen to rock music. But when his high school music teacher sees in him a raw talent for singing, he discovers a whole new world. Creating a garage band is the first step, being recruited by a bigger band and going on tour is the second. Along the way, Angel finds peace of mind in Tae Kwon Do, love in his high school sweetheart, and a maturity beyond his years. But when God starts communicating with him, instilling knowledge and messages He wants revealed, things get a little wild for Angel. Will he be able to continue to reach the masses through his songs?

The religious Right do not want to hear that God is speaking to a teenaged boy...especially one of mixed race. Fundamentalists go crazy with accusations and even his own band thinks he is schizophrenic instead of blessed. Is the world ready to learn that traditional beliefs are mostly wrong? Are we ready to listen to the latest messages from God?

Author M.T. Jones offers a novel idea...tolerance for differences. Spoken through the mouth of Angel Waters, there are some wonderful points made in this book. Of course not everyone will think they are wonderful and some readers will react the same way that some of the minor characters in the book do. In today's crazy world, words of guidance in the way of tolerance are just what we all need. Sheryl Crow, with her new song "Letters to God," seems to think so too. "Voice of God," Book 1 in The Songs of Galileo trilogy is a strong message in fictional form. Well written and full of plot and passion, it is sure to become a hit. This could easily become a movie - although a controversial one. Personally, I would love to see it. I look forward to the next installments of Angel's life.

It is a rare book that begs to be read. It is even more rare to find a book with characters you can't help but care for. But it is the rarest of books that manages to accomplish this and tell a relevant, thought provoking story. Songs of Galileo accomplishes all three. From a young man's struggles to God's role in our lives, the story is always interesting and smart.

Physics, not phyisique. Earnest Jones proves his own point by winning the equivalent of the NY State professional championship before and after the war, after with only one leg. His methods prove that the clubhead is the only part of the golf club that the student needs to concentrate on.

After reading the book, I went out to the range and hit shot after shot with solid contact and pretty good accuracy. I am a 20 handicap and could not seem to make solid contact. I thought that it was a fluke, so I went back to the range the next day and again hit the ball solidly. I hope to take it to the course next week. Some of the body movements are out of date but the idea of swinging the club is still way ahead of it's time compared to present teaching.

Considering all of the books that have been written about golf, it is rare to find one that is so concise and clear. This book is all anyone will need to start learning golf. For those of us who have cluttered our minds with technical golf garbage over the years, this book is a great start to taking out the trash!

This book gives a solid foundation to learning the most important aspect of the golf game -- the Swing. Without it, I would probably still be spending more time fixing divots on the fairway than enjoying the game of golf. Jones has some simple and effective techniques to develop the feel of the swing. It's seems awkward at first (especially for those who have learned to 'whip' their clubs) but once you get the feel of the club, you'll be amazed at how fast your clubs gets the ball to your target. Overall, it's not a band-aid solution, but rather a solid foundation to build upon your game.

Touched is a novel of small town Mississippi in the 1920's. The humid, atmospheric setting is invaluable to the novel. The narrator is a young girl who was sold to an older man as his bride. Their relationship is at first violently abusive. As the story progresses, relationships change, lives change, the town itself changes. It is a wonderful look at the best and worst of humanity. Carolyn Haines is a fabulous writer. Her characters become part of your life. What a gift!

I love Carolyn Haines!!! Especially when she writes in this genre. I do enjoy the Sarah Booth Delany books as well, but it is like comparing a fine wine to Kool-Aid!
When the author writes in this genre it is always tough, life then was never "pretty" or easy, yet she counters it with characters who are gracious.
The only critism was the ending, a bit too abrupt. Or perhaps I just did not want it to end??

This book is different than the Carolyn Haines mysteries I have read, and is just as enjoyable. Touched is written in beautiful language, and I felt as if I were right there in the thick Mississippi summer heat, felt the heavy air just before a thunderstorm would hit. She knows how to weave a story so that you just want to keep on going.

I am glad I stumbled across this author and her books!

Ya never know what your gonna get. Touched is one of those books you think about at work...because you want to get home and finish it. I love it when Southern authors can make you feel the heat and humidity with their words; parts of this book reminded me of To Kill a Mockingbird (because of the place descriptions and the weather.)This is actually a quick read but you find yourself slowing down to savor the story. A five star book through and through!

Carolyn Haines' descriptions are so vivid and powerful that I felt I was walking on the road or actually sitting in the room with her characters. There were times the hairs on my arms just stood up or my heart was breaking with them. If Carolyn Haines was attempting to reveal the narrow mindness of people in small towns of the South, my opinion is She Nailed It. If she was trying to awaken compassion in her readers She Nailed It. Her characters took my heart. I am having flashbacks of times in her story and I am in the exact same spot with them I was while reading the book. I would recommend this as a wonderful read. It hurts but it certainly makes one think. I am so glad I read it. I believe it awakened a compassion in me which will remain a lifetime.

As someone who was diagnosed with Bipolar II, in July '08, I became scared because I had no idea what to expect. All the mood swings I had been experiencing, I thought were just a part of me. However, once I found out they weren't, I started looking for answers and what "normal" meant.
Paul's book is the MOST "down to earth" book on Bipolar Disorder I have read (I have read at least 10 since my diagnosisous(sp?)). He speaks to the reader on a level you can relate to. There is no "over the head" unecessary information. I understand basic brain function and did not need an education on that. I wanted to find out what someone else experiences w/ Bipolar and Paul let me in on that knowledge. It gets frustrating in dealing w/ the meds, finding the right combination, etc. Plus Paul gave me an idea of what "normal" actually may be and for that I am extremely grateful.
I strongly recommend this book for people who have recently been diagnosed w/Bipolar, as it gives a person insight on what to expect and he shows you, that yes, there is light at the end of the tunnel, you just may not get there as quick as you want to, I know.

On the eve of my 41st birthday I was finally given the correct diagnosis--Bipolar II. I had been in and out of psychiatrist offices for 20 years! This was the first book I read on the topic. Not only did I laugh and cry, but I related on so many subtle levels. He really hits the nail on the head as far as what it is like and how to get on with your life. I know that I will have to be medications for the rest of my life, it will save my life. I am forever thankful that Paul wrote this book with humor and integrity. My husband is reading it now to learn more about me and the illness. But remember, bipolar is not a death sentence. It is actually the answer to so many questions. I would give this book 10 stars if given the option.

I was just dx as Mixed Bipolar in 6-08. I have ordered at least a thousand books (purchased a lot----spending $$$ is part of the disorder---but I rationalize that by telling me it's to HELP ME!!!)

This is the only book I ACTUALLY reserved and cked out of my local library!!! It's almost overdue. But I will finish it tonight. I am going to his website BipolarBoy.com in about 5 mins!!!!

I love his book. It's like having another "ME" to chat with. I also love his statement on the psychotherapy gig. My shrink (has a cool accent from Bosnia) at each monthly visit says "You do have a psychotherapist don't you?" I figure if she can't even remember the woman across the hall from her....what's up? Plus I have read all about Cognitive Therapy til I am purple in the face. Yrs ago post divorce (seems like another life) I saw a psychologist that sat there and just blabbed the "so how are you feeling junk." So I might go with a few more blabs with the talk therapy and then just keep reading great books like Mr.Jones' and try to stay with my neat psychiatrist. She told me most people get wrongly diagnosed 10 yrs and see at least 4 docs before the correct diagnosis is made. I nearly fell off the chair. She was on the money.Pun is intended too by the way! I always thought I was unipolar and when I felt good that was just how all people who were not depressed felt 24/7. My internist never found a SSRI or the latest flavs of the day Cymbalta -nothing worked. My shrink says "that's because you are not unipolar, you are MIXED bipolar." I had NEVER heard of any type of Bipolar except the classic- manic depressive we have all heard of. I was shocked to learn Type II has a higher suicide rate than the old fashioned type I. Anyway, it's apparent my pressured speech and flight of ideas have taken me off this man's great work. I would recommend this book to everyone in the world. Even people who are not interested in mental illness. It's a great book. So down to earth. I am an RN and I found it so much more entertaining and helpful than any of the heaps of articles, purchased books I have recently read. With 4 y/o boy twins.and a 6 yr old trying to burn my books and computer for "mommy are you going to stop reading?". OK. I will give this man's book a million bright stars that I will remove from the pretty MN sky tonight. JJJ.

What a revelation. After 25 turbulent years of marriage, i have finally been given insight into my husbands mental funk. While reading this book, i laughed, i cried and i read in awe about a life that so similarly mirrored my husband's. Having only recently been diagnosed, he is having trouble accepting the "mental illness" label. Having him read this book is my current goal. So many of my questions were answered, and I know that when he does read it, he will breathe a huge sigh of relief just realizing that the life experiences he has/had are not the "be all, end all" of his existence. Help is there-he can do this.

Thank you, Mr Jones, for opening yourself up to the scrutiny of everyone--in order to help someone. That someone is me, my husband and our family.

If you are searching for answers or just grasping for straws, get the book-read it . . . exhale. Wow . . . The Up And Down Life: The Truth About Bipolar Disorder--the Good, the Bad, and the Funny (Lynn Sonberg Books)

On the Midwinters Eve the faeries are having their annual celebration to welcome winter. But something is a miss and they all know it..where is winter? Why are there still flowers and fruit on the trees? Where has lady winter gone?
This book is illustrated with beautiful faerie figures in the traditional Froud family fashion. The story is a little familiar of many fantasy stories, and yet unique and steeped in lore.
Almost looking as a young childrens book at first this book is pretty and soft but the story is almost that of a short chapter books. The story is long enough and yet simple enough to be enjoyed by all. This book is great for children and adults alike

This is an extremely beautiful book. With Wendy Froud's doll making skills and Terri Windling's magical story weaving, teamed up with Brian Froud well, it sounds too good to be true. This follow up to "A Midsummer Night's Faery Tale" did not disappoint.

Sneezle, our beloved hero from the first book, is again teamed up with his friend Twig for a quest to find out why Winter has not yet reached their forest. Again they encounter many characters, in which Wendy's dolls never fail to amaze me. She is so incredibly gifted. I would like to show this book to anyone who does not appreciate winter as a season, because while it's not the "moral" of the story...it takes a look at winter as being the season for rest so that everything can be reborn in the spring. It tells a magnificent tale.

Not only is it a wonderful book to read and enjoy, but it's a treasure to put up on the shelf or coffee table for looking at again and again.

Wendy Froud is the wife of Artist Bryan Froud ( Good Fairies, Bad Fairies). She is a great artist and this book reflects her abilities, the books has pictures of the dolls she created for the story. The pictures say a thousand words. If you are a doll maker, you will greatly enjoy this book. The story is good but the pictures are better. It has different kind of trolls, fairies and wizards. If you love fantasy you will love the book.

It just gets better!

Terri, Wendy, and Brian have done it again! Teaming up again to send Sneezle, the beloved hero of "A Midsummer Night's Faery Tale," on another adventure, the Frouds and Windling masterfully create a mythical world that defies the pages the story is written on. Using photographs of dolls created by Wendy Froud in settings built in the Froud's garden studio, the characters literally step from the pages. Fresh and exciting, Windling's writing brings new life to old folklore, bringing the faeries and goblins of Dartmoor out of their hiding places, at least for a little while, for us to see. A treasure to keep, with plenty to share, this is a wonderful read for the self and the wee ones!

I bought this book (and the companion volume) after reading some of Lamb's work in the 'Flashing Swords' ezine and anthology from Pitch-Black Press (Sages and Swords). I'd never heard of Lamb before--and now I've read his work, I'm stumped if I know why that is. Everything that's good about adventure fiction is in this book: strong and cunning protagonists, treacherous villains, and exotic locales, and all written in a clean and fast-paced prose style I wish I could emulate.

I read the whole thing in a week, then read the other volume straight after. When I finished, I went back and read them again.

My only caveat about the books has nothing to do with the stories, but the covers. The stock used for the covers is a little thin, and it warps badly if it gets damp. If you do buy a copy (and you should), then keep the cover away from water, otherwise it will curl and start to come apart.

If you're at all interested in adventure fiction, you should buy this book and any others by Lamb you can. Really, they're very, very good.

[This is the same review I wrote for the other of the two books currently available--but I read them both at the same time, and I have the same comments about both, so ...)

An excellent book

Among the ranks of forgotten pulp authors, Harold Lamb's obscurity is one of the strangest enigmas. Imagine if you only knew Robert E. Howard or H. P. Lovecraft from a few hints of having been significant once, or inspiring later authors, and their works were unavailable in print. This is pretty much the situation with Lamb, and it is hopeful that this book and its four companions will remedy it.

Because, in fact, Lamb is a master of the genre, easily the equal of REH, HPL and other pioneers of fantastic fiction. The main character, Khlit, a veteran Cossack on the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries, is just as iconic as Conan the Barbarian, Ffahrd and the Grey Mouser or Cugel the Clever. His gruffness, practicality, and sharp wit despite being completely illiterate, makes him an appealing protagonist. In turn, his foes, Tatar Khans, schemers of the Chinese court and masters of secret cults and societies, are classic pulp villain material without indulging in base stereotypes. The pacing, including the trademark twist at the end (where I usually cried out "Of course!"), is exemplary. Finally, the locations where the stories take place are well chosen: exotic to modern readers, and presented fantastically, yet with a sharp eye to historical detail and accuracy as well. Lamb's deep knowledge of Asian cultures and customs is remarkable, and he can weave it into his plots without looking intrusive or forced.

It is hopeful that these four volumes will pave the way before more collections and reprints, and that they will introduce many more people to Lamb's excellent works. As someone who had known next to nothing about them even a few months ago, and only discovered the author when he was mentioned alongside Talbot Mundy on a message board, I definitely recommend them to anyone with an interest in great adventure stories. The editor, Howard Andrew Jones, is to be commended for his efforts in making this happen - and the cover illustrator as well for providing four elegant, moody illustrations to adorn them.

For those interested in historical adventure there is probably no better choice than to pick up this volume and read the epic story of a lone, wily cossack, who leaves his clan and sets about adventuring across Asia. Not only is the volume a bargain - you would be lucky to find a sole story in the original magazine version at the price of the whole volume - it is entertainment pur sang, from the first page to the last. While Lamb gives us great descriptions of battle- and actionscenes, in the end his heroes win by their wits and not by their swords. This gives every storyending the unique "Lamb-twist" In addition the backgrounds and details of the stories are all historically accurate - which does not detract at all from the enjoyment! If you like to have your imagination stimulated by adventures in far lands and other days, this is the book for you!

But that won't stop me from saying "wow". The first tale of Khlit starts off the character at the very audacious age of 50-ish. And Khlit ages as the series goes on. To have this wiley old man have to think his way through the traps and conflicts that beset him and not just rely on sword and brawn, is just so damn cool.

Others have noted how modern Harold Lamb writes. I concur. His prose is evocative without being overly flowery. He sketches a world that is deep and dangerous, but never gets in the way of the story.

And Lamb's exploration of cultures and religions of this region, well, I think that Khlit and Lamb expose us to some very thought provoking situations that pertain to our world, NOW. After all, this is the world of Turkey to China. I think there are some events happening in that area these days that are of import. I'm not saying that this is a history lesson in these pages....but history and culture are nonetheless taught as we follow the wandering Cossack.

Another biased though heart-felt review

If, like me, you've hunted for Harold Lamb's stories dispersed in old and rare magazines and books long out of print and despaired that you would ever have them all - you will be grateful to Howard Jones for collecting and editing them. I am, even more so because I got to know Howard towards the end of this enterprise and got a glimpse of how huge and intricate his job was.

If you've ever dreamed of adventures in a world younger than ours, where bravery and cunning count for something and danger or treasure could wait around the next bend of the road - these stories are for you.

If you've ever wished for tales that would let you breathe the sharp air of the Hindukush range, feel the burning sun of the deserts, taste the dust of the steppes, see the Cossacks or nomads quarrel, fight and revel - these stories are certainly for you.

Get all four volumes and ride with Khlit, a cunning old Cossack retired from the Sietch, who keeps looking for adventures, alone or with a few companions, in lands where if your hosts regret your parting you never know whether they found your company good or whether they regret they did not have enough time to rob you.

Read these stories, enjoy them and tell your friends!

A great book. Starts with two very good chapters on linear algebra, adapted to the needs of calculus, and then proceeds to introduce you to the contemporary way to do multivariate calculus, including existence theorems connected to completeness. Very thorough treatment of integration, including integration of forms on manifolds, up to the Stokes theorem, built upon a fine chapter on differential manifolds, exterior differential forms, riemannian metrics, etc. Good illustrations and beautiful typesetting add to the joy of reading it. Plenty of exercises and chapters on applications to physics and differential geometry.

Modest title

As Spivak's "Calculus on Manifolds", this book is labeled with a very modest title. It should be something as "All you wanted to know about analysis on manifolds but were afraid to ask".

This book is a must-reading for the analyst. It covers everything from the most basic vector space concepts up to the fundamental theorems of classical mechanics, running through multivariate calculus, exterior calculus, integration of forms, and many topics more, always keeping a very modern and rigorous style.

The undergraduate may find it a little difficult, but the effort is worth it. For the graduate student and the working mathematician it is an almost-daily reference.

This is the best book on mathematics I've ever come across. The superbly written text succeeds in guiding the reader in an easy, clear-cut, graceful way through the realm of what he modestly calls "Advanced Calculus". Some minor misprints are to regret, but they don't even come close to blurring the fact that this is - no doubt about that - an unsurpassable masterpiece.

This book is an amazing work of general vector spaces calculus. From the beginning explaining the foundations of vector spaces up to the classical mechanics mathematical theory (which subject it devotes a seventy-page chapter), treating such things as calculus on manifolds, this book plenty of good exercises has a strong and rigorous text on theory and, along with Michael Spivak's Calculus, is among the finest books ever written on the subject.

Perfect for WMI, ASDI, HTA, and Ideas

I have just recently started WMI and ADSI. I am a "top down" learner, get the hard stuff, then the simple stuff. This book is perfect for server '03 and windows system Admins. it is not a "solve every problem" I dont think it even solves most problems, but it does have tools and information that WILL make you a better windows administrator. If your just getting into scripting for windows, this is not the book for you. If you are looking for a resource that you can read through and use as a reference, to learn better ways to script your windows administrative tasks, this is the book for you. the CD has great examples and tools, along with a PDF of the book. the book is laid out very well, with specific projects, which is perfect for using this book as a reference. I read it straight through and was able to use parts of it almost every day. all of the information in this book is available at the scripting center, this book just has gotten the really good stuff for Admins, and laid it out perfectly. This book has helped me to write programs that sometimes save me hours of repetitive tasks. Example: manually removing a network virus from computers when I know all the information, but the scanner does not. I am quite happy with this book, and would reccomend it only to people with a light background in programming, and anyone that maintains a '03/XP network.

Absolutely excellent!! Very technical and to-the-point, so this book might not be for the absolute beginner. But for the more experienced Windows systems administrator, this book is an absolute goldmine! Also, in my view, it balances perfectly between being a reference volume and a textbook; I've started from page 1, and will go throu the whole book (and I enjoy every minute of it..). But still, this book will be seen next to my desk, within reach whenever I need to look up something...

With the book comes a CD with the whole book in searchable PDF-format. And I would like to thank Microsoft Press for doing that! I have put the PDF on my PDA, and can access its wisdom wherever I go! Great!

It never ceases to amaze me how many scripting books, including this one, start off telling you that you should already have intermediate to advanced scripting skills before you read, yet spend an initial chapter explaining what an array or an object is. It leaves me feeling that their definition of what "advanced" is will differ greatly from mine. I am also always a little dismayed when throughout, a book plugs a costly script development studio and spends time pointing out why your chosen script editor isn't good enough for your projects.

That said, Advanced VBScript delivers what it promises. It is written for intermediate to advanced scripters and has the primary goal of introducing scripting formats, utilities, objects and processes that might otherwise be overlooked. The beginning introduces you to the WSF XML format for scripts, why you would want to use it, and how to convert your existing scripts to this format. From there you are shown how to utilize scripts as COM objects, how to add an interface to your scripts via HTML and HTA applications, performing remote scripting, and expand your scripts ability using database, ADSI, WMI components. The last section focuses on working with Exchange 2003, MOM 2005 and Virtual Server 2005. At around 500 pages, the book is certainly not an exhaustive reference for each component examined. You are provided a good introduction and general instructions to the topic, given many recipe scripts for immediate inclusion in your environment, and then provided additional detail on where to go to focus on the topic.

The book is formatted to not only be a start to finish textbook, but also serve as an excellent reference guide for the introduced components later on. Although you may find similar scripting information scattered about other VBScript books, here you have a great deal of well presented topics that cover a broad spectrum of concepts. Inclusion of this title to your reference library will provide you the information you need while keeping your bookshelf compact.

Worth it for the Exchange section alone

I picked this up after noticing it in a book shop (sorry Amazon!). I'm an Exchange administrator and this book gave me some great scripting tips for managing and monitoring my environment. I haven't gone much beyond that since, to my regret, but the concept of packaging scripts was news to me, and I would love to find the time to try out some of the other more elaborate techniques in there. But of course, I am an Exchange Administrator ;-)

This is an excellent follow on book to "Microsoft Windows 2000 Scripting Guide," ISBN: 0735618674, which was my previous bible. I had long ago advanced past much of what is written in that excellent foundation book for VBScript, and this advanced volume really fills in the gaps. After purchasing numerous VB and VBA references that are nothing more than syntax libraries, I feel I finally have the big picture on the capabilities of this technology with this book. It is all clear.

Combined with the Windows Internals book, I don't think there is anything I couldn't do now that I had wanted to do with this technology previously. The chapters on scripting database connections and HTAs are worth the price alone. If you do any serious scripting work, this book is the true capstone. And who else could publish such a book than the horse's mouth itself?

The narrative style of this book makes the reader feel like they are sitting down with an old friend recounting a special piece of their history in law enforcement. For those who are interested in the harrowing adventures of cops in a big city, this book is definitely for you. A truly enjoyable read!

. . . Badge 149 "Shots Fired!" is for you. Gary Jones has taken a stack of his own personal experiences as a police officer in South Florida and turned them into an exciting, fast paced re-telling of the daily heart-pounding, adrenalin pumping, often dangerous situations police officers are exposed to everywhere. Using official police reports, radio transmission tapes, interviews with former co-workers, and his own personal memory, Gary keeps the reader glued to the pages of his book.

Police officers are often faced with "Shoot/Don't Shoot" scenarios which almost always require an instantaneous decision, knowing their actions will later be scrutinized in minute detail by investigators, lawyers, the media, and the public. Throughout the book there are "Situation" analysis questionnaires in which the reader has a chance to decide what they would do if they were in the shoes of the police officer. At the end of the book you can see the right answers, and what your score would be.

If you like true cop stories turned into an interesting and entertaining book, then go get Gary Jones' Badge 149 "Shots Fired!". I highly recommend it.

This book is testament to all the fine Men and Women in Law Enforcement. Written in a manner that shows the dedication of the officers, the callous attitude of the criminals, the failings to society of the Justice system. Exciting events that are True, that really happened in a beautiful city by the ocean. While tourists partied in Ft. Lauderdale little did they know what was happening around them.. Great read, masterfully written, keeps your adrenaline flowing. This book should be made into a movie, makes most of the Hollywood crime movies look like a Sunday School picnic.

As voracious a reader as I am, I have rarely purchased a book more worthwhile. I found the narrative style to be absolutely delightful, flowing smoothly and easily. Opening with the heart-pounding car chase grabs the reader's attention and interest, which never have a chance to wane.
The hatefulness and hypocrisy of the Deerfield Beach Sergeant, the ensuing pain and hardship from the injury, the pace, the perfect amount of humor sprinkled in ( I LOVED Natalie's "contributions" to the rug)...all this and more made a fascinating read. I thought the "situations" were a unique addition to the narrative, most especially situation #6, deadly force. They made the reader an analytical participant rather than a passive observer.
All in all, Badge 149 accomplished something very important: readers will have a new appreciation for just what - - and how difficult - - the role of a policeman truly is. It will also help the reader to identify with police officers as whole, multi-faceted individuals.
