The "Foxfire 40th Anniversary Book" is a wonderful tribute to the people of Appalachia as they shared memories of their lives and culture with us. This book follows the same down-to-earth tone as the preceeding volumes. The earlier ones were very informative and enjoyable, and this one certainly lives up to that standard.

After having the pleasure of meeting and visiting with Melvin during a recent research trip of my own for a book I am writing, I was very pleased to be lent a copy of this book for my reading/research enjoyment. Melvin is truly an original man and anyone who comes into contact with him is immediately struck by his easy ways and welcoming smile. This book will put you in the saddle and trailing behind one of the top Masters of the Hounds in the United States today, and perhaps one of the best in the world. My family recently went to France and we used this book as a guide. It doesn't tell you everything about the region, but it does lead you on an entertaining cultural journey that you won't forget. It's generally kind of an out-of-the way journey, so you'll need a car. Some of the places we chose in this book included the Burgoneone region (I'm probably spelling that incorrectly), the French Mediterranean, and the French Alps region. It was wonderful, especially the Burgoneone region.

This book on Francis Bacon is out of print but the good people at Amazon.com can help you find it. And if you love Francis Bacon then this book is a MUST for your library. Well written and gorgeous to view, this book more than most shows the less known works of the British genius of psychologically laden painting. The handsome book was a catalogue for the Smithsonian Institution exhibition in 1989 and 1990, before Bacon died. As for a collection of the master's best, look no further.

I have followed the career of Steve Brodner for years (very closley) and find him more brilliant with each passing election. I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone who appreciates wit, humor, and brilliance. He is an American treasure!

What a great read. I love the author as much now as I did when I was a kid. It is a great thing to learn history and be thoroughly engrossed while doing it!
