Have you ever had a simple sandwich and felt like it was the finest meal because you hadn't eaten in awhile? Now imagine being parched and so hungry and coming upon a 5 star restaurant with good food that fills the plate and a sign over the door that reads, "Grand Opening: All you can eat for $0.00". This book was in front of my eyes when I desperately needed to hear its message. It may not move you as much if you're battling hangnails but when you're struggling for air and you pant for a reassuring reminder of God's ways with His own, and His utter faithfulness to you, this book will quite simply bless your heart.

The ninth edition of White Tail Hunter's Almanac is a solid "trail-hunting" guide by whitetail naturalist, hunting method researcher, and wildlife photographer Dr. Ken Nordberg. Chapters cover everything beginner, intermediate, or seasoned outdoorsmen need to know about hunting adult whitetail bucks, from their common defensive traits (erratic nonstop movement, quick food gathering, herd protection) to the best feeding and bedding area stand sites to the art of trail making and much more. The distillation of seven years of extensive research, White Tail Hunter's Almanac is especially recommended for anyone interested in experiencing "trail hunting" for themselves.

With themes both universal and transient, "Drawing Constellations" is a romance about an anti-romance, peppered with zany aphorisms and candid ruminations about the nature of religion and faith. Hunter brilliantly evinces every hiccup of a relationship, especially the insurmountable obstacle of loving and not getting, but also the fascinating contradiction that occurs when you realize getting what you want isn't necessarily getting what you need. Galen McNeil and his band of 9-to-5 office misfits view the world with slightly smudged, rose-colored-glasses, defiantly creating a new paradigm for this world's modern courtship practices.

Saving the Wild Places

Crozier's memoir is not only an amusing account of rural life in Minnesota and neighboring states, but also a focused history of wildlife refuges in this country. Those of us who care about the survival of wild places will find this account inspiring and instructive. The section on the establishment of the Minnesota Valley Wildlife Refuge is a significant tribute to the valiant efforts of Crozier and his volunteer compatriots--surely it gives impetus to those who might want to help out in some way. The obstacles impeding government agencies and their volunteers are also well observed, with useful tips for those considering similar projects. But it did freak me out to learn what country kids are up to when they think their parents aren't watching.

"What is it really like? What happens to ordinary people when they take a drug like LSD?" This book is great, because it looks at LSD from a scientific point of view (chemically, physiologically, psychoanalytically, etc) as well as from a subjective perspective (including many very detailed first-hand accounts) and what makes LSD so interesting an experience. It explores the commonalities of LSD experiences including spiritual awakenings and aesthetic appreciation, in great detail, the most comprehensive sense of what it is really like that i have ever read.

This is a primary source for feminists
Helpful Votes: 11 out of 12 total.
Review Date: 2000-04-13
I ordered this book after being assigned excerpts from it in a literature class. The excerpts changed my life. The book was different, but even better than the little bits I had read. It's about the turn of the last century from a woman's perspective. It gave some insights on early feminism and the suffragettes that I had not expected, which were fascinating. I love how she simply tells her story, without propagandizing for a point. And it was wonderful to read about how my home state, California, looked a hundred years ago.

This book discusses, in very personal terms, faith, motherhood, marriage, careers, family, and wonder of nature. I highly recommend it.

As a practising Paediatrician, I find diagnosing congential heart diseases in newborn a challenge. This book has a evidence based step by step guide. The authors have done an excellent job in making this book easy to read and understand. I feel this book is an essential guide to Paediatric Cardiologist or Neonatologist in training.
