This is a helpful resource, yet spectacular pictures want children to look at it again and again. I rate this book 5 stars not only because of the pictures, but the words are so easy for children to understand. I definitely recommend this for gifts or just a good book to read!

This book illustrates airplanes in awesome color and creative designing. Now my son wants to be a pilot! I love the begginning of the book where you open up the book and there are all different kinds of planes. The words are so easy to understand this book deserves a big, fat, juicy award. I definetly reccomend this book for any ages up to 6.

This fast-paced adventure gives everyone a character to relate to. Not only is it a clever story with unique characters and clever twists, it also seamlessly incorporates deeper ideas like discrimination, sacrifice, and overcoming traditional barriers. The great thing is that the author weaves these themes in so naturally, you walk away from the book with plenty to think about and keep you amused without feeling at all preached at. As a college student, I am somewhat in the habit of studying and analyzing what I read. This series thrives no matter from what angle it is read from. I enjoy these books as much as I did when I first picked them up for something fun to read years ago.

"Talis Hunters" is a grand adventure that does honor to the term imaginative!

"Talis Hunters is the second in the new juvenile fiction series "Matterhorn the Brave." Matt, Aaron, Sara, Jewel and Nate are recruited to go back in time in the Pacific Northwest on a mission to locate the Band of Justice, one of the Ten Talis created by the Maker, hidden on Earth by the king of the First Realm.

In their quest to gain possession of the Band of Justice, Princess Jewel, a Native American leads the way to a community of Sasquatch. The team is faced with turbulent rivers, recurring earthquakes, gigantic waterfalls, and ancient volcanoes.

In addition to the action, intrigue, and adventure in the fast moving plot, Mike Hamel provides the reader with teaching on the importance of integrity, truthfulness, faith, justice, trust, and dedicated service. The book is rich in information on such things as volcanoes, herbal medicines, martial arts, and Indian legends.

This is a book for Youth readers who enjoy fast moving fiction, adventure, and fantasy. Mike Hamel is able to reach into the young mind with an entertaining story while providing inspiration, motivation, and interesting information. A great combination for any story teller.

An incomparable resource for anti-racist media activists!

For media activists interested in issues of racial equality, "Talking the Walk" is an essential tool for disrupting racist media stereotypes and democratizing the news. By combining critical social analysis with communication guidelines, case studies, and sample materials, this easy-to-use resource will help you reframe public debate on crucial topics like police brutality, immigration, and environmental racism. Though challenging the right-wing corporate media's economic and political offensive against communities of color is admittedly a daunting task, the authors of this important book are optimistic that grassroots groups can successfully change public policy by being media watch-dogs and reclaiming grassroots media.

Fantastic resource for small organizations and progressive campaigns on how to use public relations to further racial justice. Useful in many advocacy areas, with concrete examples and samples. If your guerrilla activist collective needs a crash course in media strategy, this is an excellent place to start.

This book is written as though the primitive artist Clementine Hunter is telling her story. It sounds just so! And the illustrative examples of Clementine's artwork are fitting and wonderful to see.

As a teacher of k-12 art I value this resource. Hunter's life is facinating and her story is important for kids to hear. The author writes in Hunter's voice, creating an intimate conversation. Other older sources I've found about this artist's life are presented in way that could be percieved as patronizing. Lyons presents racial issues in a direct way I really appreciated and helped me when working with students. Hunter's paintings express her life - using images with deeper interpretations than just quaint naive pictures. Her personal dignity and creative spirit are an inspiration to us all. Lyons includes a good balance of historic photos and reproduced artwork. I recomend also checking out other books by Lyons focusing on non-mainstream American artists.

This is a great book on Team Roping by author Leo Camarillo & I could be Joe Beaver the team roping (header) & my team roping (heeling) partner Alica Foster or Stephen Shore.

This is the man who turned team roping into an art form. It would be cool to do team roping in Las, Vegas Nevada at The National Finals Rodeo at the Thomas & Mack Center & other places would be cool & fun!

Leo Camarillo has a wife named Sharon & they live near Lockeford, California & continue to compete and win at rodeos throughout the country. Leo has a brother Jerold & cousin Reg Camarillo also conducts roping schools for aspiring ropers.

Now when two cowboys rope a steer, they must brand it & let it go back to it's mother...

I loved it!!!

great for the beginner or the roper who needs help

A Dynamite Brief Review of Dirty Politics
Helpful Votes: 6 out of 6 total.
Review Date: 2007-07-21
This brief 107-page book has more packed in it about our misguided foreign policy than I've seen penned in a long time. It discusses the trouble spots in the world clearly and comprehensively: Iraq, Iran, Israel, Pakistan, Sudan, even Venezuela. It is obvious from the first page that the author has been studying our misguided foreign policy for a lifetime. He calls it machiavellian, dishonest, and blind to our best interests, and particularly as it relates to our self-destructive partiality in the Israeli-Palestinian dispute. The author has no sympathy for the terrorist elements bent on random havoc and destruction. Yet, he traces clearly how a good number of them are a reaction to the unjust partiality we have shown in our foreign policy, and not the other way around. "Terrorism or Patriotism" is well worth reading, and this can be done in one sitting. The ten-dollar price is a bargain, considering the information one obtains from this book.

Amazing and Informative, easy-to-read Book on the Mid-East
Helpful Votes: 6 out of 6 total.
Review Date: 2007-07-06
This book has broadened the horizons of what little I knew about the Middle East and our Foreign policy towards it. I learned a lot about everything I ever wanted to know on the subjects of terrorism, patriotism and the problems of the Middle East; about the Israeli-Palestinian question, the Iranian puzzle, Islam, Hamas, Hezbollah, Al Qaida, as well as our foreign policy in reaction to all this. The book has fifteen short to-the-point chapters, making an all-inclusive presentation of the serious present-day problems in the world. By the time we finished reading this book (in two short sittings), both my husband and I found ourselves less beclouded, with much deeper understanding of the Middle East, and freed from all the spin, slogans and sophistries that we have heard repeated in the news all these years. We both can see clearly now through the profusion of present day distotions concerning the subject of terrorism. It is amazing how much we learned about things we never dreamt of before.

This book was a "quickie" due to President Hunter's sudden call to the presidency. And with his death a mere nine months later, it seemed like a still-born presidency. This book, then is a way to remember those all too short days of President Hunter's ministry.

President Hunter's essay cover a wide variety of topics. Unlike "The Teachings Of Howard W. Hunter," you get the flow and logic and CONTEXT of his statements. You feel his warm, and inviting voice, and his persistent call to holiness.

As an author and teacher, I find that I am constantly going back to President Hunter's words and ideas. There is something here that transcends his mere nine months of presidency.

wonderfully inspirational

This book is a collection of some of the sermons of President Howard W. Hunter, prophet of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. His topics include living a Christ centered life and dealing with adversity. It is a great book for those seeking inspiration in daily living of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Cricket the cat is a humourous, sophisticated and sometimes ironic cat who having lived the life of most cats, is contented to just sit and tell us about it.

Superbly illustrated satire of a cat's view of people.

Got a new copy at a used book sale and read it in one brief sitting. I strongly suggest that it is a must to own this if you are an adult cat lover. The line drawings are delightful and very well done. I wish it could be reprinted as its content is timeless. People may well have imagined a cat thinks as the author believes they do

After reading this book, I want to be an adventurer too!
I loved all of the stories, I was riveted. Ms. Cooke did an outstanding job of capturing Mr. Slick's love of discovery and exploration. You felt as though you were right there with him. I loved all of the old photographs, it really added to the book. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves to read a good biography.

A few things hit in this issue. Another assassin, but a sneaky one. A massive storm hits the city, and at the same time, a serious case of the blue flu hits the police force.

Spider's illness is getting much worse, but here he gets a lot of help from the filthy assistants, as he tries to get everything done before he can't work anymore. Yelena herself is even growing to look more Spider-like.

They do have some friends, and aid comes from an unlikely source.

The latest TPB of this fantastic series features a pretty big plot point for our bowel-disrupting hero, Spider Jerusalem. This is definately NOT the book for an unsuspecting reader who is new to transmet to purchase. You'll want to start from the beginning.

That said, it's obvious from the stories in this volume that the series is coming to a final end. It has ended for all of you who bought the issues themselves, but for late-comers such as myself, you'd better start savoring the time you spend with Spider as much as possible.

The meat of this collection is the 4 part story featuring a huge storm, which thrusts Spider into a deep coma. We meet one of the Filthy Assistants father, and gear up for the last dozen or so issues of the series. Issues 43-48 are reprinted in lovely colour, a great cover, and the standard vertigo TPB fare. Transmet stops at issue 60, so you'd better pay catch up before the we hit bottom!
