What can i say, If you do not have it.. grab it while you can.. The book is jam packed with photos of Ferdinands/Elephants and other goodies like the sturmPanzer and exceptionally rare Panther w/Panzer IV turret and a T-34 with a German 20mm Quad instead of the turret... The book is first class... I cannot say more.. GET IT

German Armor Rarities: Elefant and Jagdtiger
Helpful Votes: 7 out of 7 total.
Review Date: 2000-12-20
When this book appeared, it collectively took the breath away from World War Two armor enthusiasts and historians alike. Karlheinz Munch has cleared away decades of half-truths and assumptions by going directly to the source. He has interviewed unit veterans and consulted original military documents and private diaries to produce the most complete history of the 653rd Heavy Tank Destroyer Battalion, a unit that operated some of the most remarkable vehicles of the war, the Elefant and the Jagdtiger. The other surprise was that the soldiers were avid shutterbugs, and the veterans and their familes have opened their private photo collections to the author. These are vehicles previously known through a mere handful of German propaganda photos and US Army Signal Corps pictures. Suddenly, we have not dozens but hundreds of fresh photos, showing details of operations, unit markings, and more. Rarities include a Tiger P prototype converted to a command tank, a recovery Panther with a Panzer IV turret bolted to the roof, a Russian T-34 converted to a German antiarcraft tank, and more. Publisher J.J. Fedorowicz does not believe in half-measures. There are color drawings by famed military artist Jean Restayn, and multiview drawings by Hilary Louis Doyle. A superb investment for the historian or model builder.

I love this book, not only because I wrote it, but because it has its own energy. Shortly after I wrote in my friend Martin and had him hit by a car, he was hit by a car. After I had him attacked an insect, he was attacked by said insect. Needless to say, it caused him much distress. The most that I could promise him was that I would not kill him off, though I suspect he wanted me to have him win the lottery. When I wrote in the little girl, I gave her my own name in an effort not to offend anyone, and ended up offending only my parents. All I can say is, Mom...Dad...I love you dearly. I hope you enjoy the book as much as I did writing it!

Really fun and enlightening at the same time!

To me, this book is an instant classic. It is intelligent, insightful, artful and, above all, fun. I've read it twice and I expect to read it many more times.

It also packs as profound a philosophical punch for me as the classic "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" did when I was a young adult. If you're like me, it's a book that will make you ultimately feel better, braver and more optimistic about life--your own and life in general.

Well written and interesting

This book is a gem. It's a quick and fun read - with all kinds of intersting messages tucked in. You'll want to read it again as soon as you're finished - partly because the characters have become your friends and you want to visit them again, and partly because each time you read it, you find new concepts to ponder. The chapters, while weaving a seamless tale, often stand alone as well - making this perfect bathroom reading. I hope the author isn't offended - it's just that you can finish any random chapter quickly and enjoyably. And since it's a fun book to read again and again, you'll always have something fresh to ponder while you sit. I wouldn't say it's the only place to read it... but if you've read it through once, keep in in the bathroom rather than on the bookshelf. Just prepared for visitors to start asking to borrow it!

I am new to the sport of deer hunting and have no one to guide me in learning the skills needed. I purchased this book for this reason and am glad that I did so. It covers all areas of hunting needed to begin from equipment to finding locations to tracking and gutting a deer. It is advisable even for those who are veterans to the sport and wish to increase their chances of harvesting a deer. A definite recomended reading for deer hunters.

This is the third book from the Hunting and Fishing Library that I have read and this one was as good as the others. As a begining deer hunter this book was invaluable but an experienced hunter could benefit also. It has sections on habitat, senses, guns, and equipment. It also has great sections on tactics and even a step by step photo guide on field dressing. One thing you should expect from this series of books is great pictures and this book is no exception. If you want to hunt deer, buy this book.

Exceptional and highly original modern-day horror novel that plays like an unholy mix of Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None" and Alfred Hitchcock's "North by North-West." All of the characters are completely believable, the dialogue is crackling throughout, the riveting plot is never predictable, and the ending is so moving it reduced this reader to tears.

Talk about page-turners! I read this book in one all day-all-night session. I forgot to eat and drink I was so swept away by it. It just builds and builds, and the characters are so real. When the first of them died I was so suprised and shocked. It's really funny too, especially the booze-hound Vera and her acid tongue, but more than anything else its just plain scare-you-to-death city. Of all the books I have read this is the one I would hammer down the doors to watch as a movie.

Arno Gruen's work not bound to politics
Helpful Votes: 13 out of 13 total.
Review Date: 1999-04-29
The Kirkus reviewer complains that Gruen "never really tries to identify what social conditions in Germany at that time fostered psychological deformity on such a titanic scale." Perhaps, but the reviewer never really tries to identify why those social conditions should be explored by a book focused, as this one is, on a psychological phenomenon -- the origin of destructive behavior in the loss of autonomy at an individual level. Surely a book may be permitted to explore the psychology of Nazism while leaving room for another book to explore its sociology.

The reviewer also picks at Gruen's comparison of Richard Nixon to the Nazis, citing contemptuously the sentence, "Every one of Nixon's actions throughout his political career was characterized by contempt for humanity." Sorry, this doesn't seem like a self-evidently absurd statement to me. The reviewer must be aware that a litany of supporting examples could be produced, yet for some reason not even one counter-example is proposed.

And why does the reviewer ignore Gruen's strong indictment of the violent left? Or does he/she consider condemnation of the Italian Red Brigades to grow from a "left-wing paranoia." Too absurd for words.

Today, a week and a day after the shootings in Littleton, Colorado, Arno Gruen still has a lot to teach us.

There is an incredible ammount to be learned from Arno Gruen. It is just about the most important and powerful book I've read. All readers I bet, can find areas of this book that make them uncomfortable. We recognize ourselves in these pages. We live in a society that makes us ill. It's the same old idea: the persons in the asylum are more sane than those outside. Read up America and all Western peoples! This and his other book : the betrayal of the self, are jewels for the mind. There is no time to waste.

The prologue of "Insatiate Archer" captured my undivided attention, and the remainder of the book kept me spellbound, literally up to the last word. I don't usually read a great amount of the sort of subject matter this book discusses, (I term it medieval fiction, for lack of my ability to arrive at a better term), but the author presented the material in a manner such as I could not escape her. Consequently, I'll be anxiously awaiting her next book, regardless of the subject, simply to experience more of her outstanding literary ability!

Review Date: 2007-08-07
The debut novel of retired soldier Hunter Taylor, Insatiate Archer is an action-packed novel set in the harsh era of the 14th century. Heroine Susanna is a high priestess of the sacred druidic groves, who seeks to accept the best of Christianity. Yet the murderous Yellow Curate will stop at nothing to exterminate her beliefs from the face of the earth. Susanna can barely stay scarcely one step ahead of her relentless pursuers, in this dramatic tale interspersed with touches of magical fantasy - a land where the ruthless Insatiate Archer could be lurking behind any obstacle, arrows notched and ready to pierce fresh hearts.

I'm a big fan of the Weiss-Hickman sci-fi/fantasy books, and the story sounded vaguely similar, so I gave it a try. The first impression, the cover, does not begin to communicate the excitement, the passion or the surprises related on the pages within. Just read the prologue and see if it doesn't get your heart racing. It's a truly excellent story, very well told. If you enjoy the ups and downs of a thrilling fantasy, I strongly recommend this one, and look forward to the next book from Hunter Taylor.

Hunter Taylor is an amazing wordsmith. I was completely caught up in the characters' trial and tribulations. I went through a wide range of emotions, and had to wrench myself out of the book to do other things. I found the intersection of faiths fascinating, and the recurring theme of what really matters touched me. I truly hope there is another book forthcoming from this delightful author; the epilogue left me wanting more. Do yourself a favor - read this one.

Loved this book. I have been out of work for the past 14 months. I left a full time corporate position to be a full time caretaker for my father who recently passed on. Little did I know that getting back into the workplace would be so difficult. I feel penalized for having made the decision to do so. I am in my middle 50's and am realizing that my age is probably a factor in my employability.

This book was much better than the "what color is your parachute" book. The info is succint, practical, and gives
one hope of securing the right position for any reader.

After reading many job hunting books, including the "parachute book" I decided to visit my local Borders and gather more resources. After selecting 10 or so books to peruse, I decided on Mr. Wynett's book because it read well and got to the point of the search and how to make mine more effective.

Using the book, I restructured my resume and cover letter. I earnestly began soliciting myself with the new resume on February 1st. By the end of that week I received a few phone calls and emails of interest. In the next two weeks I scheduled 4 interviews that led to 2 offers and I accepted one today, February 20th.

I am not sure if it is coincidence or not, but, I have to believe the following the advice in the book and making the suggested resume changes are what did it for me. Having been unemployed since September 19, 2005, I am totally elated to have found a job with excellent pay and benefits. I actually did not settle, I got to pick and take control of my situation.

If you are looking for a book that deals with the business of job hunting and how to do it successfully, this is the book you need to read.

Unique insight into interviewing, job hunting and landing ANY job you desire. **Read it twice**

As a jaded laid-off former corporate drone/worker bee, this book breathes new life into the possibilities of being employed AND happy. From the beginning of this book, I realized that my attitude was all wrong. The first couple of chapters will get the fire started under your heels and give you inspiration to
start that dreaded job hunt or resume revision. My stomach used to turn at the thought of having to look at my resume, but perhaps that is why I never heard from anyone. "The Job Hunter's Crystal Ball" emphasizes the personal touch. My
resume has the personlity of a dial tone--on a good day. I actually look forward to a complete overhaul of my resume, really jazzing it up and having it convey my true abilities and nature to a prospective employer.

This book breaks down all of the manager/HR jargon that I needed to know. I found out what was probably happening to the endless resumes which I sent out after being canned. In addition, "The Job Hunter's Crystal Ball" opened my eyes
into how to answer the lamest questions one often encounters in a job interview. Ever more helpful, the book tackles the sticky SALARY issue. I was always lousy at this. Not anymore!!

I overcame all fears which I had about the application, resume and interview processes after reading this book. I felt confident that I could walk into Any Company, USA and seal the deal--pardon the cliche. It's true. Sure, some of the
info I knew, but the presentation and positive nature of the book really made me do a 180 in my attitude. I realize that an employer is not just looking at what you can do, but how well you can convince them that you are the wo/man for the job. I could never figure out why I wasn't getting jobs--I was smart enough, articulate enough, friendly enough, hardworking, etc. But something wasn't wowing them. The general advice I always receive is to "go in and sell yourself"; however, this book tells you HOW.

My options are open and I am trying to be more flexible regarding job opportunities. I think "The Job Hunter's Bible" would be just as appropriate, IMHO!
