I've had the opportunity to read Maudy's book and meet Maudy in person. She is the real deal! As a Christian, it is hard
to believe that God would give this gift to anyone, but Maudy uses it in his name and helps guide people through positive
messages. She is not a psychic, she is a mystic. She is given permission by God through your angel guides to help you with
your path. Finally, someone who uses their powers for good, not profit. By the way, the money from book sales and readings
go into a 5013c to build a children's hospice in NC! This was what He wants her to do for him and all of us.

Great fun for comic readers

Comic convention afterparties are the stuff of legend: when comic creators get together at the bar, drink until the wee small
hours and tell stories about some of the outrageous things they'd done at previous conventions where they got together and
drank until the wee smalls. As good as those stories are, you had to be lucky enough to be there at the bar to hear them...
until now.
Bryan Talbot, Eisner winner for graphic novels like The Adventures of Luthor Akwright and The Tale of One Bad Rat, turns his hand to prose writing for this entertaining volume collecting dozens of these funny, often outrageous stories. Now if you're expecting some sort of "tell-all" book, this isn't the place to go - Talbot isn't dishing on who slept with who or anything like that. These stories, while funny, are more benign - such as how Dave Gibbons had trouble when airport security found a model skeleton in his luggage or Neil Gaiman had to get past a surly shopkeeper to autograph copies of his own books. He also gives the most succinct explanation I've ever read of the supposed Jeff Smith/Dave Sim feud.
Although there aren't any trash-talking stories, there are a few revealing ones... tales that make the occasional writer or artist appear like less than a nice guy. Other stories, quite simply, show how completely outrageous some creators are willing to get, and a few will make you smile a bit at how sweet and genuinely human a comic celebrity can be. Talbot tells you straight up if the validity of a story is suspect, and in a few cases, tells you not only that a tale is an outright fabrication, but also gives alternate versions or hunts down the real incident from which the story may have sprung. It's like a book of folklore or urban legends - tales that have been told from mouth to mouth, and may have changed in the telling. For the most part, though, the stories are just for fun, just for laughs, and Talbot's easygoing, conversational style works perfectly for the book.
Hunt Emerson joins Talbot with periodic illustrations throughout the book. The cartoons are very funny, although some of them - like some of the stories - are sometimes rather blue or bawdy. This isn't a book for the kiddies - of course, younger readers probably won't be familiar enough with the comic creators as individuals to care to read about them anyway.
This is a fast read, but wonderfully written and well worth checking out for anyone who's curious about some of the behind-the-scenes dirt that our favorite comic creators sometimes get into.

While my 18 years in Nashua, NH, don't qualify me as a 'native,' I found it very interesting reading. So many of the same
family names are common threads woven through the fabric of our history. It was especially enjoyable to share it with the
children, and to point out the various locations on our drives. It helps us all have a deeper appreciation of what has changed,
and what has not.

This is a good book for Halloween because it takes place on Halloween. It is really, really, really funny. Nate thought
his dog was a ghost and that made me laugh. It was my favorite Nate the Great book. It was the funniest book I ever read.

This is what I thought of the book: really liked it. It was about a detective to find a cat.
A detective and mysteries

I do not yet own this collection, however I checked it out from the library almost 6 wks ago and just now returned it because
we could not renew it anymore. My two 3yr olds just LOVED it. They listened to it almost every night. The stories are shorter
than some of the other audio books we have listened to, maybe 15 or 20 mins. apiece, so they are perfect for the car. They
offer humor which my 7 yr. old loves. Nate also likes pancakes, which my kids find hilarious - and he has a dog, which now
my boys are sure that we are going to get too. (we are not) If your children are a little bit older, they could probably
follow the books while being read to on the CD. The books have lots of pictures which really makes my boys happy. My daughter
read the books a year ago, in between kinder and first grade, and she still likes the cd even though she knows what will happen
next. This cd is a big hit in our family and I will acquire it soon.

Month by month the Northeast US outdoor scene brings changes in the plants, animals, and climate. Opportunities for children
to become involved in observation and simple projects are related to several attractively illustrated pages for each month.
I've bought several copies of this book over the years, and am delighted it's back in print. Preschool and primary classrooms
will find much to enjoy; youngsters refer over and over to favorite pages. It would make a nice present to a child's classroom;
if there's already one there, so much the better!
