In this book, Helen Hunt Jackson is an excellent and fascinating biography of an independent 19th century lady whose claims to literary fame rests on her remarkable circle of friends and a single romantic novel that aroused the public sympathy towards the plight of the American Indian.Helen Hunt Jackson was the author of "Ramona",a tragic novel of social injustice.After more than a century(and more than 350 successive printings)Ramona is still in print and has been compared to "Uncle Toms Cabin" that is one of the best selling books in publishing history.The saga of Ms. Jackson's life has all the scope and diversity of good romantic fiction and is peopled with an incredible cast of characters including her life long friend,Emily Dickinson;her literary advisor,Ralph Waldo Emerson and her California mountain guide,John Muir.This is a great book!!

...you just can't get over,once you've read her work you want to know everything there is to know about her!

If you really like helicopters you must have this book. You can read the incredible description of the creation of the vertical flight made by Hunt, that share with us his many years of working on Igor's team. The photos are very nice and you can't stop before the last page.

This is an excellent book for any leader wanting to educate her troop on the history of Girl Scouts. There are many badges at the Brownie and Junior level that can be earned, in part, by using this book. It is written at a level for girls of all ages. I hope Ms. Hunt continues this series to present day uniforms with the diary notes. Very interesting book. Thanks.

Must read for any researcher

This textbook was assigned for my graduate on-line Health Accounting class. Since I don't go to class, I've learned everything I need from the textbook itself. It is well written and the figures are excellent.

Understanding the nature and dynamics of complex, hierarchically organized systems is crucial to understanding the origin of life and living systems. This 1973 collection contains key papers by some of the founders of hierarchy theory: The Nobel laureate, Herbert A. Simon's original paper on "The Organization of Complex Systems"; James Bonner's "Hierarchical Control Programs in Biological Development"; Howard H. Pattee's "The Physical Basis and Origin of Hierarchical Control" and "Postscript: Unsolved Problems and Potential Applications of Hierarchy Theories"; Richard Levins' "The Limits of Complexity", and the Clifford Grobstein's "Hierarchical Order and Neogenesis". Although Herbert Simon's fame is in theoretical economics and management, his thinking to understand hierarchy was an important contributor to this success.

Howard Pattee's work should be much better known than it is. Because his work connects the disparate fields of biology, epistemology and ontology at a biophysical level it has not been seen to be central to any of these fields. However, from working through Pattee's many papers in "biosemiotics" and hierarchy theory, I can attest that his works should be key readings in genetics and behavioral biology.

For anyone interested in hierarchy theory, this is where you should begin. Most of the papers are still amongst the clearest statements available the fundamental importance and roles of hierarchical organization in living things.

This is an excellent book on vegetable gardening. I like it enough to be buying a second copy for my daughter. No one book covers everything but this is one I consult fairly regularly, especially when laying out a new bed or design. I also recommend Square Foot Gardening by Mel Bartholomew and Postage Stamp Gardening, can't remember author.

Awesome action manga about a guy who does these crazy kung-fu moves. He's in a future where there was a war and now all appliances have gone berserk. Hangs out with a girl raised by pigeons (weird I know but makes me laugh). Funny with all sorts of action, which I like.
