David Anson Russo is of the most fun and creative maze artists my family has ever seen. His Great Treasure Hunt books made the Waldo series seem lethargic and very dull. And his maze art is second to none on the planet. I highly recommend all of his interactive books! My daughter and her friends have loved his books since age 5. They are 9 now, and still love his books..more than Hanson/Spice Girls! Go figure...You get the point-we think this David Anson Russo is the greatest!!

We love this book! It is an easy to follow children's version of Pilgrim's Progress. There are pop-ups and pull-outs throughout the book. At the end of the story there is a board game. It is our favoirite part. It teaches children that they will be faced with tough choices and challenges in life and helps them know what road to choose. Our 5 children range in age from 1-10 and they all enjoy it.

This book reveals truths not found in any books now on the market about how religion as we know it came in to existence. It should be required reading in all courses on religion. It explains how most rituals and myths actually came out of pagan theories of long dead shamans and mystics. A strange and wierd journey through the dark passages of history.

I've been reading one chapter a night to my eight year old, and he and I have both loved this book. It discusses the history of whaling, from early humans through modern times. Whenever possible, the author quotes primary sources, including the writings of "cabin boys", the young all-around helpers who served on whaleships. This youthful perspective keeps even an eight year old interested.
Original photographs, boat plans, painting, etchings, and other illustrations are often used to illuminate the main points made in each chapter.
The book strikes a good balance between environmentalism - the fact that many species were brought to the brink of extinction - with economics - the fact that people 100 or 200 years ago needed work and baleen and oil, and whales provided these in abundance.
Anyone young reader with an interest in animals, American history, ships, technology, or whales will likely find this a most enjoyable book to read.

This book is one in a series of 4. My 3 (almost 4) year old daughter requires this to be necessary reading before bedtime, when she wakes, when its quiet time, etc. When she runs out of the required characters to search for, she asks Mom or Dad to find something for her to search for. The books have entertaining scenes through out and have provided hours upon hours of fun. I would highly recommend them for the 3-9 year old.

"Graphic Classics: Bram Stoker" serves up an excellent collection of illustrated stories by horror Grandmaster Bram Stoker. Each tale is either fully illustrated, comic book style, or text and page combined. All of the illustrations are in black and white, and feature a wide variety of styles and flair. This is definitely not the typical art you would find in a DC or Marvel comic, but is much more "arty."
There is plenty of "Dracula," Stoker's number one claim to fame, but there is also enough of his other works to let us know that he wrote more than one novel. This is the second edition of "Graphic Classics: Bram Stoker", with some favorites returning from the first edition, along with some excellent new adaptations.
The stories include:
"Dracula" - Stoker's most famous story, illustrated by Joe Ollmann in a slightly cartoony but appropriately Gothic style. The adaptation is and the style of the book is kept intact, including the letters and paper clippings that drive the plot forward. A nice showpiece for this new edition.
"Vampire's Hunter Guide" is a combination of Van Helsing's text from "Dracula", combined with semi-humorous drawings by Hunt Emerson.
"The Judge's House" is a EC comics -style adaptation (Vault of Horror, Tales From the Crypt, etc...) of a haunted house story. Beware the Judge!
"The Bridal of Death" is adapted from "The Jewel of Seven Stars." A mummy tale, it is rendered in the unique style of J.B. Bonivert who also adapted the Sax Rohmer mummy tale "In the Valley of the Sorceress" for Graphic Classics vol. 12, "Adventure Classics".
"Torture Tower" shows the danger of being a loud-mouthed American tourist in Nuremberg. Wonderfully adapted by Onsmith Jeremi, it is done in an "underground comics" -style, with nervous energy that suits the gruesome tale of comeuppance.
"The Wondrous Child" is illustrated text, with a flight of fancy and a trip to fairy land. The master of horror could put out something sweet from time to time as well.
"Lair of the White Worm" is a great tale of jolly, haunted England and the monsters that haunt its green and pleasant land. Bizarre and sensual, the Lady Arabella is a classic Gothic villainess, with her secret rituals and lust for blood. Illustrated in comic book style, with a Victorian flair in style, by Rico Schacherl.

My friends visiting from out of town and my family used this map game to walk around the park. I learned so much about Central Park. We spent time looking at the statues instead of just walking. What an education for the kids, too! Great idea. The map was so accurate and interesting.

Girls will love the stories about real dogs (and the girls who own them) that are just part of the great dog-related information in this jazzy new book from American Girl and Pleasant Company Publications.
And girls will really have fun trying some of the recipes to create yummy treats for both dogs and their owners. They can whip up a batch of "Woof Woof Waffles" for their favorite dog - OR - try some "Puppycakes" (cupcakes decorated to look like dogs - you have to see these darling creations to truly appreciate the concept of puppycakes) for themselves and their "human" friends.
The book includes suggested names for pooches, doggie trading cards and mini-posters, and even tips for doodling a dog - creating cute pen-and-pencil pooches.
Colorful photographs and other illustrations help make this book simply irresistible to dog-loving girls everywhere!
