I found this Biblical fiction very well written. It was one of those rare books that you pickup that is not only entertaining but one that you find yourself at night when you should be going to sleep saying to yourself "Just ONE more page - then'll I'll turn off the light".
The author wrote this is in such a style that I found myself absorbed in the lives of each character and felt their sadness when they were sad and their joy when they were joyous. I felt like I was actually in Egypt and was living with these people feeling their feelings.
A quick read and I can't wait to read the next in the series.

A wonderful story

This is not only the story of Joseph's reunion with his family, but the story of Simeon--the brother who is the Destroyer. He has destroyed anything that meant anything in his past. When he is selected to remain in Egypt until the other brothers come back with Benjamin, he is forced to look at himself. But it is not until he goes back to Canaan that he truly examines who he is and what he believes.

There are lots of little sub-plots in the book that keep it interesting. I thought the writing was good, and the plot was fast-paced enough. There are also a few surprises along the way.

Basically, an enjoyable book and I will be reading the next one.

The characters in this novel seem more real than those in the first book in the series. While I didn't always like Simeon, I found his story fascinating. A well-written interesting piece of "biblical" fiction, with interesting insights into life in ancient Egypt.

Singing The Praises Of The Goddess

Review Date: 2006-06-11
Lisa Hunt's 'Celestial Goddesses' is an exquiste devotional book to the Great Goddess unlike anything I've ever come across. Llewellyn went all out on this one and produced a beautifully bound hardcover book of the highest quality with wonderful 8 X 10 color prints of each Goddess included within.

Twenty Goddesses were chosen for this "Litany to the Goddess."
1) Amaterasu - Japanese 2) Arianrhod - Welsh 3) Artemis - Greek 4) Chang-O - Chinese 5) Coyolxauhqui - Aztec 6) Hina - Polynesian 7) Inaana - Summerian 8) Isis - Egypt 9) Luonnotar - Finnish 10) Mama Quilla - Peruvian 11) Mawu - Fon (West African) 12) Nut - Egypt 13) Pana - Inuit 14) Saule - Slavic 15) Selene - Greek 16) Tara - Asian 17) Unelanuhi - Cherokee 18) Ushas - Eastern Indian 19) White Shell Woman - Navaho 20) Wuriupranili - Aborigine (Australian).

While some of my favorite Goddesses were left out (Freyja, Pele and Kali) there exclusion is more than made up for by the discovery of lesser known "Energies" that I was totally unfamiliar with until I bought this book.

Simply a must buy for any and all pagans seeking expanded contact with the Divine Feminine or anyone who loves art. Absolutely Magnificent! My Utmost Highest Recommendation!!

(From thedivadigest.com)

It is easy at first glance to dismiss this work as a book for children, so vibrant is the artwork and so simple and concise is the narrative. Although it would be a lovely introduction to Goddess myths for the older child, its worth to the adult world deserves high accolades, both as an informative text and a meditative tool.

Utilizing the wonderful art of talented Lisa Hunt (who has been a bookmark in my browser favorites forever), the book has been given a generous hand by Llewellyn publishers, using beautiful 8x10" color plates of the Celestial Goddess series. The glossy pages also contain, for each of the goddesses explored, a page of mythology, a guided meditation and a full page dedicated to one basic thought regarding that particular Goddess, such as "Life is full of mountains and valleys. The goddess can provide you with the necessary guiding light and energy to help you reach your goals" for Coyolxauhqui. Having the 1-2 sentence thought to synopsize the energy of goddess portrayed written in the center of a plain, white page makes it all the more poignant and evokes a strong, meditative presence. The meditations are brief, but effective and have been carefully selected to effectively convey the energy being depicted for each of the Goddesses.

There are 20 goddesses highlighted, fearlessly ignoring any imaginary boundaries of pantheon and plucking both the famous and obscure from a number of traditions. Each goddess is an experience and the reader will feel complete immersion in the sheer essence of the individual deity that is represented. This book is, quite simply and "quiet, simply" a masterpiece experience.

Lisa Hunt is one of the best illustrators working today and this book proves she is a great author as well.

In the book, she paints wonderful images of goddesses from many cultures, and then creates a guided meditations based on each ones strengths and influences. It is a magical journey through the different beliefs of our diverse world.

If you have an interest in the Goddess, meditation just love to look at gorgeous artwork, then I highly recommend picking Celestial Goddesses up!

FINALLY, after thirty-something years, Jesus Christ makes sense to me! I finally see why and how it all happened. Kumar pulls in references and quotes from some of the best Christian minds and publications. For such a bargain price, one might expect a small pocket book with tired arguments. But this is a large book chock full of great information and thought-provoking descriptions. I would highly recommend this book to anyone searching or to any Christian who is helping to answer a searcher's questions.

Excellent introduction

This book is an excellent introduction to the philosophical arguements that support Christianity. When I first looked at the illustrations of htis book I expected it to be on the Junior High level but it is more indeapth. While only an introduction to the subject Steve Kumar does an excellent job of encapsulating the basic arguements for 1) the existence of God 2)the existence of Evil being consistent with the existence of God 3) the irrationallity of Atheism 4) the Deity of Christ 5) the divine origin of the Bible and 6) agruments against Eastern religions and Islam.

This book is not only a good evangelical tool but also should be read by Christians to better understand the logical validity of their faith.

Excellent resource for skeptics and Christians alike.

I recommend this book for skeptics who need an "in a nutshell" coverage of the basics of Christianity. I also recommend this book to any Christian who has deep faith in Christ, but also needs a deeper intellectual understanding of what he/she believes.
It doesn't "beat the bush" when confronted with questions like "Is the resurrection real?" or "Is the Bible the true word of God?" The answers are given in plain English, not in academic gibberish, so that I would not be worried that some people would find it too hard to understand or too simplified to be credible. It also exposes the weaknesses of the other religions when put in the presence of the light of Christianity. I consider it a priceless tool in answering questions raised by an unbelieving and confused world.

Broad, Simple, Easy!

Don't underestimate Mr. Kumar he does a masterful job at explaining complex arguments in simple understandable terms. This is a great tool for evangelism. If you are not quite sure how to answer those hard-nosed intellectual snobs, this book is a great starting point. Kumar deals with some of the most relevant objections of our time. How would you answer an Atheist? Can you really trust the Bible? Kumar deals with these questions and much more. The reason I gave this book a five star rating is because it maintains simplicity yet incorporates complexity!

I have waited for what seemed like forever for this WOW book to hit the shelves and I must say it was well worth the wait. I have other books written by both Shane Hunt and Linnea Dayton and I'm glad to say they have maintained their rep of putting out good references for the rest of us. Every time I open it I see something else I want to try or gives me ideas for new things. This book is well designed and written - not too techie for novices and chock full of great illustrations. If you dislike working your way through the effects menus, you'll love the pages that show all the fountain presets, bitmap filters, etc. I appreciate the authors remembering all of us who do not upgrade every year or who use more than one version (or Macs). Every CorelDRAW user, using any version, should get this book. You'll be glad you did.

I first bought coreldraw7 a couple of years ago, at student price.. and it didnt come with a manual. So I figured out a lot of techniques thru trial and error. But I missed out on a lot of the Coreldraw features, although I thought it was great software all the same, and did a lot of drawing with it.

Just last week I bought the Coreldraw Wow book, and ..at last! ..the tools and features of this software are revealed to me in an amazing compendium of techniques, tips and excellent information.

Shane Hunt's 'The Coreldraw Wow! Book' is clear, well written, and an inspiration. Full of useful techniques, it's an excellent book to really show the power and versatility of Coreldraw.

An amazing how to book for beginners and advanced users.

I've been following Shane Hunt's writings on graphics for a while, so I was sure to grab this one. He and the other authors show you some of the finer and more detailed aspects of Draw's abilities. I keep seeing things in other images and wonder how they did this or did that - now I know - and it isn't that hard when you know the tricks. It is written in easy to understand instructions and walks you through the difficult parts. I highly recommend it to anyone that is serious about increasing their Draw vocabulary and repetoire.

Very Biblically oriented -- not just a new fad on teaching, but a good balance of true Biblical discipleship and fresh, up-to-date ideas. WORTH READING!!! This is exactly what I had hoped for. Small footprint, plenty of capacity, no external power requirement and simple plug & play compatability for both XP and Vista.

I use this unit 3 different ways:
1.) As a backup device for a laptop running XP and a desktop running Vista
-- It's simple and very quick. I actually now backup my 2 computers now on a weekly basis. Prior to this I did it once a year if I thought about it!
-- Plus I keep this unit in my backpack which helps reduce the risk of losing everything if there were a fire/tornado or similar disaster.
2.) File transfer mechanism when the files are bigger than a USB memory stick holds
-- I don't always have a shared network I can use between computers so this is the next best thing.
3.) For programs I don't use on a regular basis at work. This would be demo stuff and large applications that I only use on a very infrequent basis.
-- This keeps my laptop hard drive free from some very large installs.

I also taught a class to homeschoolers using THE WAY LIFE WORKS (much cheaper) as the main text, but using many of the CD-ROM activites from ESSENTIAL BIOLOGY as class material. I especially liked the MendAliens for genetics problems! There are many useful activites, quizzes, and chapter tests, wonderful graphics. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to understand "essential" biology.

I was in the middle of extracating myself from a business relationship with a Difficult Person (DP) and remembered this slim volume. My sister took this author's psychology class while an undergrad at Bowling Green State U. and passed the book along to me. Dr. Tucker's assessments of common DP's, their behavior patterns, and most importantly, HOW TO DEAL WITH THEM really helped me through that situation, and many others. Lots of people you encounter in life are DP's and this book can help you get more from your dealings with them. I hope this gets put back in print soon.
