MEDIA, ARTS, AND LIFESTYLE covers the social, cultural and artistic history of contemporary German culture and is a pick for any college-level collection covering European modern culture. It joins others in the 'Popular Culture in the Contemporary World' series, exploring all aspects of modern German art, entertainment and film and blending history with cross-cultural observation in an easy reference focusing on developments from 1970 to modern times. A specialty item and excellent addition to any comprehensive collection.

Nothing complicated here but lots of good flavors and easy to make. Most of these are adaptable to prepare ahead and freeze using the once a month cook method. Lots of flavors from different ethnic cooking made a bit milder for the American family. Kids will love many of the recipes in this book. My kids love the Greek Pastitsio, the Chicken Tortilla Casserole and the Argentine Stuffed Steak Spirals. I usually only find a couple of recipes in a book to use regularly with my family I use 7 or 8 out of this book.

As with many, I saw the movie first. This is where there is a rift as to whether the book or movie is better. I will leave that to you. (See my review of the movie)
This is the story of a family that on the surface that seems different from most families. Later we see it is anything but. The lives of several generations of the Owens family are covered from major events to those thing that seem minor at the time. This book has a dark undertone and make you think the cat is going to jump off the refrigerator at any moment. Yet if you quit trying to anticipate the story, you find it rich in beautiful pose and people interaction. Contrarily, this story is interspersed with vulgar language and repugnant images (probably necessary to portray bad guys and bad times.)

I enjoyed reading this book. I suppose now I will have to read something else by Alice Hoffman to see if this is her style or a radical departure.
Throughout the story you are not sure if it is luck, logic, or just practical magic

Grace learns from her teacher that there is more to being a princess than pretty, pink dresses. The book covers princesses (both real and fictional) from Africa to Asia open Graces eyes to various things a princess might do (like being a spy!). There is a neat little historical page at the about princesses throughout history. The kids enjoyed this read and asked to hear it again. But then they love princesses and they fell in love with Grace in the story Amazing Grace.

This book contains many of the original pieces that are cited over and over in newer management texts. Nothing like going back to the original source material!

The pictures of puppies are great. Very colorful, all different breeds. There are 12 pictures, from Jan '02 to Jan '03. My personal favorite is Jan '03 (it's of the most adorable pug).

The Raccoon on the moon was great. It was the first book I ever read. Its kind of stupid for someone of my age to say this. I really looked up at the moon for a while, but I never saw a coon. Maybe you will.

The Rainbow in your Life talks about how different colours affect you and they way you think and act. There is a GREAT quiz that helps you decide what colours you should be wearing, eating, decorating with and more. Some of the questions in the quiz are "What is your favourite season?" "Review your wardrobe and list the three most predominant colours," and "List the three dominant colours in your bathroom."

These questions and more will help you see if your are surrounding yourself with the right colours. Once you figure out your colour(s), you can go to the appropriate section and see suggestions on lighting, food, fashion and how your colour(s) affect your family, career, health, relationships, friends and even vehicles.
