I actually bought this book for myself, because my dad and brother had both bought it and I couldn't stand not having my own
copy to spend loads of time mulling over. This book is a great retrospective book, full of pieces and images of pieces you
may not even know, shedding new light on an already amazing artist...It also has some really great critical essays.. enjoy...

I found this book to be delightful even at the age I am! I was raised in the forties and our trees were alway cut trees and
very simple,so I could relate to trees not being very beautiful in some peoples eye but these trees were beautiful to me and
I I enjoyed this little book since I could write down all those memories and pass them onto my children. I wrote some of
the stories and passed the book onto my daughter to write some of her own memories of trees at Christmas. Sometimes simple
books like "Christmas Trees" are the best. I would like to purchase two more books like this for gifts.

this story is about a girl who uses her head to help out her father who gets himself in trouble over a donkey. a man gave
katya's father a horse and that horse had a baby with the father's mare, so the guy who first gave the horse wanted the foal,
so he took the case to the tsar. the king gives out a riddle to the two men and says whoever answers the riddle gets the foal.
the riddle is 'what is the fastest thing in the world, what is the fattest thing in the world, what is the softest thing in
the world and what is the most precious?' the other guys asks a neighbour who owes him some money and the father asks katya.
i won't tell you the answer but i'll say that katya won. the tsar was interested in these answers and asked the father who
told them to him, to which he replied his daughter. so the king asked the father to bring katya to him, but he said that 'she
must come neither on horseback nor on foot, neither naked nor dressed and neither bringing a present nor empty handed.' so
she goes to him, and at the end of the book he marries her because she was the most clever person in the kingdom.
this was a nice story based on an old russian folktale. the pictures are beautiful and colourful with nice traditional, colourful borders surrounding them. i first heard this story in grade 3 or 4 and it was one of those that i remembered to this day. it's one of those odd books you'll find where the girl gets the guy because of her brain, not her beauty. a beautiful story. i recommend.

"...a treat for everyone who likes historicals and romantic suspense..."
Ceremony of Deception by Jannifer Hoffman is a wonderfully written historical romance. It has romance, mystery, suspense, and danger. And it will surely keep your attention from start to finish!
The story's about a girl named Jessie McGerrett who was raised by the Shoshone Indians after her parents were killed. She lived with them until Tim McGerrett took her to live with him and to learn the ways of the white man--to read and talk properly. They forged a strong bond, and Jessie soon called him "pa". Later, he was murdered by a scoundrel called Tom Keel who was after his money.
As Jessie sets out to find and punish Tim's killers, she meets Scott Cordell...a handsome man who is also out to find Tom Keel for selling guns to the Indians. She tricks Scott into an "Indian marriage" so that she can go with him and Buck Mallory to Cheyenne, Wyoming to find the murdering Tom.
Scott believes the young lady is nothing but an annoyance and wants to be rid of her...but he soon discovers there's more to her than meets the eye.
The story is full of wonderful surprises. Like Jessie's first time in a town and her first time wearing dresses. It's all very humorous that you'll truly love. I find this book a treat for everyone who likes historicals and romantic suspense, and I would highly recommend it for a wonderful read.
