If you want to understand about Gas Dynamics, better read this book. It can be either used as a text book or as a reference. A must for a person dealing with thermo-fluid mechanics.

I used this book in Graduate School at Purdue in a Gas Dynamics class taught by the co-author, J.D. Hoffman. A excellent, in-depth text, that starts with the fundamentals and builds. The best and most comprehensive book on the subject I've seen.

I have been baking almost as long as Golde and hardly ever use any other book for cookie recipes. I will give this book as wedding present to all my grandchildren.

I've used this book numerous times and every recipe has been delicious. I baked some cream cheese brownies and lemon squares for my class and my students loved them! This is by far the best cookie book I have come across.

In this book Dr. Quick shares his heart for healing churches that have missed what Christ has been trying to tell them. As he illustrates from scripture and his own experience: if you don't learn what God is trying to tell you, he is going to keep telling you louder and louder (and probably through more and more pain).

So if your church is going through pain, and you don't understand why (or even if you do), I strongly encourage you to get this book, and begin the process of understanding what Christ is trying to say to your church!

We have had the privilege of going through the process laid out in healing the heart of your church, in our local assembly which was facing many of the issues that are talked about in his book. We have also had the great privilege of doing this with Dr. Ken Quick who happened to have come to Christ through our church 30 years ago. We are not done, but it has been amazing to see Christ at work in our church, and in the many relationships that have been damaged.

My life turned around when I finished this book. So much was revealed about alcohol--for my wife as well. We were in control with our drinking at the time, but Hoffman's book made us rethink where we were going with alcohol.

Joyce Hoffman is a good read. Her across-the-board approach to social drinking is a needed package for diverse groups--both in the workplace and out.

Words cannot explain how great this book is. It goes back and tells you about the great Mastiffs of the past, how they were bred, and how modern Mastiffs came to be. The photos alone are a marvel. This is a treasure that never should have been put out of print. It is the kind of book that Mastiff lovers and breeders will be reading forever.

The antihero of this novel tries to fill in - with ravenous eating - the abyss experienced as a child by the loss of his Jewish parents in the Holocaust and later as an adult of his two daughters, amidst the cracking and crumbling Iron Wall - rejecting the past, not finding a place in the present. Only Spinoza, another Dutch Jewish outcast in search for meaning, whose writings punctuate the novel along the food binges, will provide a glimmer of hope - whence "Hoffman"...

This novel, as well as the other one I read, Sionoco, deals with an alienated Jewish man searching for his father, as well as the strength and weight of the generations - of the individual in his family (Sionoco: Mayer repeating almost exactly the fault of his father) or in his people (Hoffman's quest echoing that of Spinoza's centuries before). Dark, brooding, deep: after the last page, the book continues to resonate.

A most amazing story about a insomniac diplomate. He spends his nights reading Spinoza and mourning about the loss of his children. His non-interest in his job and his affaire set up his downfall resulting in a fled. Make sure you start reading early in the day or you won't sleep at night, because you won't be able to put it away.

Okay, okay. I'm 41 years old and I have no children, so what am I doing reading children's fiction? The answer is simple---Alice Hoffman. Hoffman, who deftly blends forklore and fairy tale like qualities into her adult novels (HERE ON EARTH, THE RIVER KING, among many others) uses these skills to great advantage in HORSEFLY, and it translates effectively into children's fiction. HORSEFLY is the story of a timid little girl, Jewel, and her magical horse and is a delightful tale for both children and children at heart alike!

My six year old daughter lists "Horsefly" among her favorite books. We have owned this book for almost a year, and still read it frequently. A lover of horse stories since she first saw the movie "Spirit, Stallion of the Cimmaron", this book has set the stage for many nights of what we call dream building. We will continue to enjoy this book, and will add more by this author to our home library.
