Practical approach to intimacy with God

This is an absolutely phenomenal book. If you have ever wondered things like "does God really care?" or "Can you really hear me?" or "How do I know you are there?" read this book!

Written in a conversational manner, Susan lays out a road map to paying attention to the little details of life that show that God does care, does hear and is here. In a truly practical fashion, this book cleans out your spiritual ears and allows you to relax and receive the presence of God in your life. From overcoming the obstacles of achieving that intimacy to watching for details, Closer Than Your Skin helps you find a new level in God that you probably never thought possible in this lifetime. In the 30 days since I finished the book, I'm 100% more aware and on fire once again!

Change your view of God ... for the better!

This book is a real life-changer! I got it last week and could barely put it down. For all the people out there who see God as distant, never satisfied with what we do, judgmental, please read this eye-opening book. Susan Hill tells stories and gives coincidences from her life ("Is it odd or is it God?" her husband says to explain the way God works) that reveal how God is just yearning for a relationship with me and with you! I have started to ask what God is going to do through me today, and to tentatively try to address him as "Abba" ("Daddy") in the intimate way that the Bible says He would like to be called. You will laugh, you will cry, you will yearn for that close relationship to a loving Father that Susan convinces us is possible. Enjoy this book -- it's a real delight and I bet it will turn out to be a classic.

A roadmap for a closer relationship with God

Susan D. Hill asks some of the same questions I've struggled with. Does God really care about me as a person? How can I grow closer to Him? Is it possible to really have a one on one relationship with Almighty God? Closer Than Your Skin answers those questions and more. It's filled with stories about people who found God in the most unlikely places.
Sometimes our churches seem like social centers, revolving around programs, methods, and organizations. We're so busy we forget the simplicity of a relationship with Jesus. Susan D. Hill stresses the importance of making time for God, for waiting for him to lead us, instead of running ahead, and she shows us how to just enjoy being with him. An excellent book that speaks to the heart.

Beautifully written story about one woman's path to God

Closer Than Your Skin by Susan D. Hill is a hard book to define in just a few words. It's not quite a devotional, but through it I see her devotion to God. It's not quite a biography, but I've learned so much about Hill, I see her as a friend. It's a book written with haunting lyricism about the God moments in Hill's life, and her gentle encouragement to seek your own. She tells her story with brutal honesty about her husband's adultery and alcoholism, as well as her own frequent separations from God. Stories like these abound in Christian bookstores, but Hill writes with such earnestness and heart it's impossible not to feel for her and want your own God moment as well. She describes it a bit like a sneeze: you know it's coming, you can feel it, and there's nothing you can do to stop it, it's out of your control. This is a book you'll read again and again as you travel down your own road to get closer to the Lord.

This is my favorite microelectronics textbook. (Out of the 5 or six that I've read.) It is very simple and straightforward material. When I need a microelectronics reference, this is the first book I look at.
The one improvement I would like to see is a better chapter written about SPICE modeling.

No other book gives a more effective treatment of the subject. A thorough explanation of the basics followed by a stepwise approach towards advanced topics. Thanks Kang and Leblebici for coming up with such a great book.

I own the book... in fact, I took the class Leblebici wrote the book for! Leblebici is a very good teacher and the book is a must for all EE students studying VLSI design. It teaches concepts well without wordy, hard to understand passages. The useless "paragraphs of eqations" found in other engineering books are replaced with meaningful examples.

The author has done a good job in explaining all the intricate details of synthesizing ASIC's in deep sub-micron realms. I would recommend this to every ASIC design engineer.

AVCA Coaching volleyball

I have been coaching volleyball for over 20 years and still consider this one of, if not THE, best comprehensive text for volleyball coaches - beginner and experienced alike.

...and I purchased it for less than I could have with my AVCA membership.

Great book for reference

This book is a revamped version of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Handbook. Like the title of the review suggests, it is a great reference. I find myself going to it a lot in order to refresh my memory about some technical aspects of the game.

If you wanted just one book to help you with your coaching or with your own game. This is probably the book for you. If you have a deep burning desire to delve into other aspects of coaching and the game of volleyball, this is a great way station. One of the many books that you need to keep in your library, but a very dog eared book due to the many times you will need to look into the book.

Like the previous reviewer said, an excellent book for beginning to intermediate players and coaches.

The book's material is useful for the beginning and intermediate volleyball coach. I have been feeling my way in coaching my team in small tournaments for some years now, but reading this book makes me feel like I've gone to a volleyball coaching clinic.

I especially like the way the book emphasizes the development of each of the skills and positions in a team. Also, therapy of the common injuries included at the end are a great plus.

On the whole it has a very well-rounded treatment of coaching, including not only the physical, but also psychological, medical and nutritional elements that have to be considered by a good volleyball coach. The book is overflowing with actual coaching experience of a number of people. I learned a lot from it.

Asher's approach of employing experts in each chapter to discuss their respective forte yields a thorough and insightful text. I have upwards of 12 coaching books and this one I think to be the most valuable.
