Like a breath of fresh air, this fun, ground breaking and innovative text explores the emergence of a human-technical evolutionary development - Hyper-Beings. The text is written in a common sense, accessable format which also manages to create a very personal educational experience ; ever read a book where your thought the author was writing the book personally for you ! It is a very hard book to put down. The author charts and projects HOW hyper-beings weld information superiority to gain both tactical and strategic advantage from their opponents. The text contains a treasure trove of nuggets and a prime thought stimulator.

Spread the word.

A Classic Text
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2005-07-04
This is a well-regarded, classic, treatment of the principles of hypersonic inviscid, external flow (primarily steady flow). While the book predates current CFD and experiments, it contains fundamental analysis and discussion useful to a scientist/engineer seeking an understanding of hypersonic flows around bodies in order to carry out such calculations and experiments. The clarity of presentation is superb and well-known for it. The authors are distinguished in the community for their large body of research work and have written/edited other texts such as the english translation of The Physics of Shock Waves and High-Temperature Hydrodynamic Phenomena by Zeldovich and Raizer- which is also a Dover book and of exceptional clarity and value and can be considered to be the unsteady-flow complement to the present book.
A reading of Hypersonic Inviscid Flow could be combined with readings of more recent texts or papers that include treatments of experiments/calculations with multi-reaction, chemical- kinetics coupling to the fluid flow, viscous flow consideration and current illustrative examples (for example the books written/edited by J. J. Bertin, amongst others )to get a comprehensive appreciation of the state-of the art in hypersonic flows.
The level of discussion is suitable for an advanced undergraduate or graduate in engineering/physics/applied math, or anyone with experience in undergraduate thermodynamics, fluid dynamics and vector calculus.

A book to get you excited about your role as Woman!
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 1998-10-05
I read this book about 10 years ago, and it really changed the way I thought about myself as a woman. It showed me that I was not a female by mistake, that it was really a priviledge to be called by God to fulfill a role as woman. I also learned to see submission in a totally different way to how the world portrays it, and suddenly I became excited about being a woman in God's Kingdom, ready to take on the responsibility of my role with joy. I loaned my copy to my mom, who read it, got excited and sent it to my sister, who read it and passed it on to a cousin, and from there, who knows where it got to, but I never got it back. I'm truly disappointed that it is out of print currently, as I think that every woman should read it. I hope somehow, that it will come back into print someday.

A finely crafted work of enduring literary merit

Review Date: 2008-09-03
The late Alfred Hayes (1911-1985) was a prolific and talented writer whose credits include seven novels and a series of screenplays and adaptations for television. Perhaps the very best of his novels is "In Love", a story set in Manhattan during the 1940s when a middle-aged man relates to a young stranger the story of a last love affair that was replete with lust, emotion, depression, and a dysfunctional relationship. A finely crafted work of enduring literary merit which was originally published in 1953, "In Love" is now once again available to a new generation of appreciative readers and is an especially recommended addition to both academic and community library collections.

Harmonic Foundations

Excellent book. Michael Hayes explores the common weave of an archeonumeric pattern code through a broadly encompassing sphere of ideological (religeous, scientific) structures. He traces the origins to the Hermetic Tradition of ancient Egypt (only briefly speculating on the factual hints of a pre-existing Atlantian origin), through Pythagorean schools of thought, Vedic, Chinese, Judaism, Christian, Genetics and more ... The commonality of the fundamental numeric (and musical) pattern is blatantly clear, and throughly backed up by grounded examples (although, in my opinion, Hayes does be stretch his theory a bit at times).

Personally, this has been one of the most crucial books i have read in my canon. Hayes offers a ground-base framework for my own work in extending and synthesizing the ancient Hermetic code into a new paradigm of integrated ideological expression ...

I highly recommend it for anyone who is into the dispersion of Hermetics and/or the synthesis of global ideological systems.

I am a big fan of books that actually include case studies of companies that implemented the techniques taught. This is one of those books. With the rise of blogs, wikis and social media, old school marketing is nowhere near what it used to be. No matter what industry you're in or size of business, this book offers gems of knowledge you can immediately apply. It may also have you re-consider your marketing budget.

Be careful! Amazon sent me the year old version! Do NOT use it. I got a current version from a pilot shop and sent the old one back. Amazon gave me a full refund.

If you get the correct version it is invaluable! I passed.

I wrote this for students

And my students have found it very helpful ever since. That said, there are much better products on the market now for them. That said, how to books are a strange breed. Some people are just good at resumes, interviews and the like and some need all the help imaginable. There are pirated PDF versions of this book circulating; this is not an entirely bad thing as the book's original purpose was to help students, not to make money.

His grandaughter

Review Date: 2007-09-05
I am obviously very biased in this review, but my grandfather was a wonderful, well humored man who loved to know the truth- a true old fashioned journalist who did not let commericalism or pressure lead his stories. That was the probably the norm for the time in pre WW2 small town Texas. I have fond memories of his stories both from him personally and from the areas he showed us where the stories revealed themselves. The stories my mother still tells me still bring tears and laughter as she saw it through a her youthful eyes. The only night my grandfather didn't come home was a night of tragedy for a school that exploded, killing several small children and their teachers from an boiler explosion. I can still see my mother's face when she describes her reaction to him sitting on her bed,teary-eyed at the end of the one of the hardest days of his life. He knew all in the great radius of East Texas and thoughly enjoyed his work. He had such depth in emotion and yet made those stories relavent to all. So please, if you get the chance to enjoy one of my grandfather's essays, please try to remember him with the same loving devotion he had to all things sacred- Texas, chidren, and the hunt for a good story.
