Allen de Hart's The Trails of Virginia:Hiking the Old Dominionis a classic and exhaustive study of places to hike throughout
a statethat is known for its beauty and history but less acknowledged for its vast array of outdoor recreational opportunities.
The author doesn't just cover his personal favorites or the 50 best walks, but every trail in the state. He's included information
on distance, history, scenic features, degree of difficulty, and directions - every piece of information the hiker will need.
I've used this book countless times in not only planning a hike, but also in the process of researching and writing my own
outdoor guides. No matter where you plan to hike or what your level of fitness is, a well-worn copy of the Trails of Virginia
should sit on your bookshelf as it does on mine.

Growing up in Boston I heard this story of how I had a relative who was the first man to ever walk successfully accross Canada.
But since I didn't know any of my relatives back in Canada until recently and since my dad passed away when I was very young,
I never followed up on this bit family history. Recently I had an opportunity to visited my cousins Helen from Vancouver,
Joan from Toronto, Jean from Waltham and Malcolm and his wife Terri from Roslendale,Ma. It was at this meeting that I was
given this book the "Transcontinental Pedestrians" by my cousin Malcolm "right out of the blue"! I took it home, began reading
it and I couldn't put it down. I'm finished with the book now and I am in the process of letting all my family know about
how wonderful this adventure story about my cousin John Hugh Gillis's journey really was. I only wish I had been born at
the time this great story was happening and had a chance to meet this famous member of the Gillis clan. He must have been
quite an amazing fellow. I want to thank Mr George Edward Hart for writing this book about a truely remarkable event in Canadian
and Gillis family history.

This book is truly a down-to-earth and practical guide to help people work through hurt feelings and to learn forgiveness.
I have used this book many, many times for inspiration, for ideas on how to further my spiritual growth, and for remembering
that my soul has a purpose to fulfill on this planet. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is on a path to enlightenment.

excellent historical novel

Lenore Hart captures the midatlantic marshlands wonderfully in this novel of piracy, slavery, and adolescent dreams. Set shortly
after the Revolutionary War, when the British are still very much enemies, fifteen-year-old Molly Savage and Rafe, a runaway
slave, deal with lost treasure and attacking picaroons while confronting the very real limitations of their respective life
situations. The setting is very real, and the characters satisfyingly solid. Midway through, I wondered at how they would
find solutions to seemingly impossible problems, but the book resolved both realistically and hopefully. So many historical
novels for kids focus on New England; hurrah for this book set in one of the other former colonies.

"The Tree of Hope" is describing different difficulties that many of us may encounter in our lives. Even thou it is a personal
story, it's not exception, but rather situations and emotional consequences that are all-human, and could be felt by many
people. It is written in beautiful poetical style. Some express sadness, or frustration, other are filled with warmness, light
humor, self-respect, and confidence. And as the title states, has many poems which show optimism, strength, love for life,
and knowing that there is always hope. I like these short, not importunate lyrics, and highly recommend this book to all who
love and appreciate good poetry.

This excellent collection of international essays (England, Scotland, USA, Canada) was listed by Tolkien Library as one of
"The Best Tolkien Books of 2007" -- a year prolific in publications. The accessible material draws the reader back into Tolkien
for new adventures in familiar territory: you'll want to read the Trilogy all over again. The enjoyable chapters are quite
diverse, and are excellent material for provoking discussion, whether in the classroom or around the dinner (or pub!) table.
Some of the pieces should be required reading for students of this genre. While some of the essayists are new names, most
are well established in the field of Inklings and/or Literature & Theolgy: Colin Duriez, David L. Jeffrey, Ralph Wood, Trevor
Hart.

The book is well documented, which is good, we don't have to just take the authors word for what is stated. The book is
just short of 100 pages, so it doesn't take too long to read it, yet has enought information to discribe the subject and shed
a little light on it. I found it interesting and thought provoking. I would suggest it for anyone that hasn't already set
their opinions in concrete.

Desiring to better understand my Christian religion I purchased this book and found it better than other theology books.
Dr. Hart's ability to translate complex theological issues into something that is understandable is helpful. I also enjoy
how he connects modern day and historical church figures with various theological belief systems. The book is well written
and would be enjoyed and benificial for those who are novices or those who are theological trained. John B
